We always like to hit a Waffle House when we're in FL. Happy we hit the one on Sandy Creek because we had the BEST server named Precious. She was hysterical! If you met her you would think she was shy - but noooo. Everything she said was so funny. All the employees there seem to really love working there and it was a very "welcome to the family" type vibe. It's a small location but that made the experience great. We were in the mood for omelettes and Precious gave us 3 different ways they could make them. Who does that?! We went with the "fluffy" option and they were really good. They didn't taste like a chain store omelette - but more like Aunt Betty's. Turns out it was a happy, polite young man that made them and we were sure to personally thank him. Super food. We were on our way back from Orlando to Jacksonville. We were hungry and decided to stop at this waffle house. The place was small and the tables were also small. The place seemed clean. The servers were nice. But there was one server that was not professional to myself and my family. We are an American mixed family we speak other languages than English. My aunt doesn't speak English well and we try to talk to her in Spanish. One of the workers said loud enough for us to hear..we are in America and speak English. That made us feel bad and my aunt felt bad as well. We respect other options but at work you need to be professional.The food was ok. The food made my stomach hurt. I would give it 0 stars I had hair in the syrup bottle I bet the worker took the hair out and gave me the same exact one. There was hair in my friend and sisters food. They got half off but I didn't. Very busy, but we were seated quickly. Two cons: I asked for my scrambled eggs to be made wet, they were very dry. I would have asked our waitress about it, but she didn't come back around until we were ready to leave, and I caught her attention to ask for a box to go for my hash browns, which btw, were supposed to be smothered, but had maybe three onion bits in them. And as noted above, once our food was delivered, we didn't see our waitress again. She literally passed us by at least half a dozen times, en route to the back room, or to grab her drink, and she did so very fast, and we couldn't seem to get her attention. Mrs. Ellen was an old school waitress. Very friendly, fast and efficient. We stopped at Waffle House for a quick breakfast before heading out to start our day. John ordered the Pecan Waffle with Oj. I ordered the Original Waffle with a Hot Chocolate. It's 46 degrees outside and I needed to be warmed from the inside out. Both waffles were hot and hit the spot. We will definitely stop here again. My cousin and I split an order of steak, scrambled eggs, wheat toast & double order of grits. The steak we requested medium since given an option, but was well-cooked and still surprisingly good. I loved that they had apple butter for my toast, not even close to Cracker Barrel's, which is hard to compare to, but still a good option with lots of cinnamon that I can't seem to get enough of these days. The location is the best one I've been to between here, Jax and others. My boyfriend and I come here often. We even came in on a few of the holidays in this past year ... I think Christmas too. As we all know these places can get real crowded quick but it's something about this one. I've seen the team that works together here and that's exactly what they are a team. See this is why I like this location. They offer great service and know how to work together even in crowded chaotic rushes. I like that. Before I begin the only reason this is 2 stars is because of one particular waitress! I wish I remembered her name or took it down because she was the only reason I left somewhat satisfied . The place was filthy. The waffle maker looked like it hadn't been cleaned in days, a table that hadn't been waited on sat behind us before we got there the table had trash and dirty dishes all over it, u could tell the people left. So we thought ok they will clean it, didn't really care but when we are leaving about 20 minutes later, it was unsettling to see that even with 3 people working one who kept walking past the table and starting up conversations or going to the back for 5 minutes or more at a time. The cook was fast , and seemed like he knew what he was doing . Food came in less than 10 minutes which makes it awesome when you are already hungry, cause that's what Waffle House is for ! Being really hungry and not knowing what to eat .. anyways back on the point of it wasn't done . My hash browns were cold , the eggs tasted weird and like cold jello rather than... eggs ‍ the bacon was good and the toast but the waffle was burnt . I was already hungry so of course I started to eat but of course as usual, I didn't finish. This time, rather quickly ,the fork was put down because of how wrong the food tasted! That's when my waitress comes in and makes us feel more comfortable. She had this happy personality while taking out order and bringing fresh drinks whenever it looked like we needed it, she came and took the dirty dishes at once without overdoing it and even played Christmas songs on the juke box cause it was too "sad" in there.... Anyways if you want some food fast stop here. But don't expect it to taste like Olive Garden or IHOP. It'll taste like what u pay for... cheap! We used to visit this outlet frequently specially during weekends and holidays. We had a terrible experience about a month back at the Waffle House on I-95 and County road 210. When my family and I entered, there was no welcoming us, an elderly waitress stared at us and "shouted " to sit anywhere since they were not so busy. We didn't liked her attitude but refrained from reacting, as we had our weekend planned and did want to spoil our day over her attitude. It was clear she didn't like our faces. She turned out to be our server, she came and literally threw the knifes and forks startling and unnerving my kids sitting at the table. We tried to ignore it. Then after a long wait, she came to take the order. My 6-year old asked for hot Coco, to which she shouted to him in a very loud voice that they don't serve it and he should know better!!! She then "told us" to get our order set by the time she comes back to our table next. That was more than what we could take, we got up and walked out not wanting to creat a bigger scene. Other waitresses also appeared shocked at her behavior but didn't intervene so I assume she was their supervisor. If she was was not, then I don't know what the supervisor was doing when this was going on? On getting back in our van, my kid still wanted to have breakfast with Coco milk so we looked up another Waffle House further down south on I 95 and went there. There, we were properly greeted by a friendly server. She showed us the table, gently put the cutlery and came back for our order. Again my 6 year old asked for the hot coco, to which she politely told him "I am sorry, but we don't serve that anymore, can I get you a cold coco instead? To which he replied sure. What a world of difference, between the two franchises, which are just about 15 min apart. It's tourist season, restaurants are busy and most likely understaffed. I get it. But none of these are reasons for a waitress or anyone for that matter to be rude! I waited for approximately 15 minutes for a place to open up. Several couples and a large party came in after me. A group in a booth was clearly finishing their meals. I prefer sitting in a booth but not wanting to make anyone wait longer than necessary I opted for the counter. Someone had just left so I took their place. The waitress I think her name was Ann (she wasn't wearing a name tag like the other employees) made a rude remark to a customer who was paying his tab about me sitting at a dirty spot. She went about her business, ignoring me for several minutes then returned to clean my spot at the counter. Again telling me I needed to wait to order because she was busy. She returned to take my order. I haven't seen a menu yet. I ordered my drink which was brought by another employee along with a menu. She takes my order. I told her how I wanted my eggs and the type of meat but she insisted on asking me these same questions I had already given the answer to. The meal came with a waffle and toast I did not want toast. I indicated the waffle was good enough. She insisted on getting the type of toast I wanted. I told her that she was being rude and has been rude since I sat down. Again she belittles me for sitting at a dirty spot. Honestly, the cup and plate didn't bother me. Another employee brought my drink and food, refilled my coffee. When Ann returned with the check she was syrupy sweet, calling me baby and asking if she can do anything else for me. The 2 servers behind the counter (a middle aged woman with glasses and a younger girl) looked at us with the most rude stares ever. This is a small litter corner diner off of the 95 across from a Pilot and a TA travel center. My husband and I decided to try it out since we see Waffle Houses all over the south. It was a great decision! Although this place is TINY inside, it is very welcoming! We sat down and were brought drinks right away. My husband and I opted for cherry Sprite and for a limited time the cherry flavor is free. I got the bacon, egg and cheese Texas melt with my hashbrowns capped and smothered meaning they add grilled mushrooms and melted cheese on top, and my husband went out of his comfort zone of regularly ordering chicken strips and got the Texas cheesesteak melt. The kitchen has a huge window so u can see the chef prepare the food. The place was very clean so we sat in ease as we watched the chef do his thing. About 10 min later we were served! The food was hot and fresh and as we devoured our meal, we were quite entertained by the conversations of the locals who were very funny! It added to the welcoming experience!
