Grumpy's absolutely delivered. I had the fried chicken Benedict with pancakes on the side, and whew... you're gonna need to be rolled out of there when you're done. The fried chicken was crispy, the Benedict was packed with flavor, and the pancakes were the size of hubcaps. The hash browns were excellent too. Service was friendly and fast, and the atmosphere had that classic hometown breakfast spot feel where everyone seems happy to be there. This location has the Grumpy's name but does not have the Grumpy's taste and it RUINED my mother-daughter outing. Walking into the restaurant it has that welcome back feeling of being inside in a Grumpy's spot. The decor is modern farmhouse. The lollipop bouquet is the cutest and WARMEST invite into this spot. As all Grumpy's, the menu is full of American classics. My daughter and I had a short-stack. I couldn't resist adding the Roasted Turkey plate. My drink choice was hot chocolate. I knew something was OFF when I received the hot chocolate..."where's the chocolate drizzle? why does it taste like it's water based?" The waiter let me know it's the waiters choice on how it is served. *INSERT EYE ROLL* When the meal came it was easy to see the Turkey plate was MISSING items and looked like it had been sitting (I mean sitting gravy has look of non-movement). The waiter tried to COMFORT me by saying it was under a warm plate but after I questioned where were the cranberries and stuffing...she then responded with an OH! The Kitchen manager offered to bring out a different dish. Now for the pancake, at FIRST BITE my daughter says "I taste the batter" *insert the disappointed DEEP SIGH* The owner asked if he could remake our meals. Truthfully, this was the THIRD complaint so it was a big NO THANK YOU! He then offered to comp the hot chocolate and one of the meals. Wow! In at 10 am Sat and place was jamming. Located in well kept plaza with multitude of shops and covered sidewalk area you could walk around while you wait. On wait list for party of 2. They provided coffee while you wait and there's some seating outside restaurant while you're waiting. Wait was maybe 15-20 min not bad. Seated at table, clean and inside was modern and well kept. Greeted promptly by Kylie and drink orders takes and specials provided. Went with big boy breakfast- with hashbrowns as sub for one of the meats and it was a big portion of hashbrowns. Delicious breakfast close to my friend's house who lives in Saint Augustine. When I looked up on Yelp grumpy came up as one of the top spots for breakfast and we were not disappointed. The choices were perfect, and everybody enjoyed their Dish. One of our friends got the western omelette, somebody else got the biscuits and gravy and my friend and I split the huge seafood omelette and it was brought on two plates already split for us. We came here for breakfast during the week. It's been a minute since I've been here and was excited to have breakfast at Grumpy's again. When we arrived we were shown our table. We were able to score the large round table with the lazy Susan in the middle. Our server was super nice, friendly, and was quick to grab our drink orders. I wound up ordering a hot cocoa with whipped cream. Our drink orders came out quickly and my hot cocoa was piping hot. It hit the spot. Onto food orders. I decided to order a short stack of pancakes. BTW their pancakes are HUGE with a side of bacon. My pancakes came out hot and delicious. They were HUGE and you get two of them. I wound up being able to only eat about 1.5 of the pancakes. Visited here on the recommendation of someone local, and we were very pleased we did! The style of the restaurant is like modern warehouse, and it's cute--maybe a bit loud. We were in the front and it was hard to hear the excellent music. There is also outside dining for when the weather is nice. Our server was MJ. She was very helpful in making our selection. She was efficient, and very attentive. I ordered the corned beef hash with home fried potatoes and everything was cooked just as I requested. My cranberry mimosa was excellent as well. The whole family went for a pre- Fathers day breakfast since I have to work on Fathers day. It was a very mellowing experience. We all sat at the community table which seats 10 people. I arrived a 9:30 am since Grumpys does not accept reservations. The hostess accomodated us when the entire party was present. It was good conversation and we all had mixed reviews about the food. Chicken and waffles were the star! On the hand the cheese grits had weevils present. The grits were not a not a good look. Our server was ok. The surf and turf omelet was not a fan favorite either but edible. Nice atmosphere and kid friendly with coloring plates mates and crayon Also, while waiting, a mini coffee and water hole is there for the taking. Ordered a Philly Steak w/fries and partner got a veg omelette. When delivered it had tomatoes in and cooked, which he immediately noticed and offered another to be made, but due to fact how busy place was, decided to opt for some fresh on side be brought out. My Philly, mind you I was not expecting a huge sub like at a sub shop, but will say was a lil disappointed when it came out, on a roll not much larger than a standard size like of a hot dog roll, I will say was a lil disappointed"underwhelmed". It was a proper sub roll style, just a bit smaller than expected. When opened to add pepper, that's when was surprised to see, maybe 1-2oz of Philly steak inside, very little and way overcooked pepper/onion adding and a little cheese, barely. The side of fries, usually a decent amount, was like a child size, pics added. The flavor was good, just light on everything. The sub/fries was a $15 plate, and for that much I was expecting a much better portion than what was delivered, sadly, left there not really satisfied for what was paid for what was delivered. Have always had a great experience at all three of the Grumpy's I have been to, this just wasn't a great food experience. Place is very open, bright and welcoming as well as all workers very attentive and always smiling, that makes for a great dining experience. Eva was an amazing waitress! The kitchen could follow instructions that she writes on the ticket like when you say well done hashbrowns, and they are still raw in the middle. There are not well done. Poor Eva went back to them twice about these hashbrowns and they were still raw in the middle. Yeah, avocado toast is mostly toast with very little avocado. I would recommend that you skip that. The food is generally really good. Despite us going during a busy time, their method for keeping guests queued was fairly put together! Keep in mind, their intercom only projects to the breezeway outside the front door, so if you're waiting inside, keep an eye on the hostess stand. Drinks will help that, though, and the Cold Brew Cocktails were wonderful and not overly sweet with our request of light whipped cream (: Once everything came together, it was ready set go! This was my first visit to any Grumpy's location and boy was I sold! The vegetable medley was so surprisingly refreshing with the addition of cooked cabbage. As the spice hound that I am, the Fried Chicken Benedict was a light heat, but ever so pleasant. The green bean side sang to my southern heart with the addition of a savory bacon presence and note. If you're all about sauce, maybe request more of the Spicy Hollandaise, as that did seem to be on the lighter side. The French dip was an absolute winner for me though! The Au Jus was absolutely DRINKABLE; the perfect blend of bold and comforting for this sandwich. Finally tried Grumpy's on a Sunday morning. Super busy and people lined up inside and outside even with the pouring rain. The wait wasn't too bad for two people. Got seated at their outside covered patio. Even with it busy, our server was attentive and checked in multiple times and refilled my coffee at least 3 times. I ordered Grumpy's big breakfast with pumpkin pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage links and grits with cheese. It came with coffee. The pumpkin pancakes were delicious without all the stuff they topped it with. I don't like candy corn and didn't think it was necessary so I scraped it off. The eggs were decent and the grits were tasty. I added salt and pepper to both. Sausages were just ok, nothing special. Love the diner vibes and menu options. Third time is a charm!! Went with the family for a late lunch Sunday after church. The kids had the kids chicken and waffles and chocolate chip pancakes... they loved every single bite of their food!! Typically they have a long wait on the weekend but they usually get you in faster than the time they give. I give it 4 stars instead of 5 because of the price. It's a bit pricey for breakfast food. Look to spend at least $50 for a family of 4 with 2 kids eating off the kids menu. A few dollars less per item and we'd go a lot more often. read more

I cannot believe this was my first time eating at Grumpys! Breakfast is possibly my favorite day and I have been missing out! Went on a Friday late morning. It was pretty busy which surprised me! But we were sat quickly. French toast is normally my go-to but I spotted a cinnamon roll on the menu and I am so glad I did. Often at restaurants it seems to me like they came out of a tin tray and were warmed up in a microwave. Absolutely not the case here. This cinnamon roll tasted fresh! And it was slathered in icing. Warm and gooey and absolute perfection. No notes. I also got a side of bacon so I could finish on a salty note and it was juuuust the right side of crispy and it was A LOT of bacon for a side. The coffee was also a perfect diner coffee and a great pairing with this breakfast. My friend went more of a lunch route with a Grumpys BLT. It was an excellent BLT. Also a side of potato salad (which of course I sampled) and that tasted like they made it pretty fresh as well. The exact right amount of mustard. Firstly, the windows need blinds. Scorching sunlight will bake you if you sit in the wrong spot. We were on the wait list, got called and then the guy admitted he'd made a mistake and had a further 20 minute wait. Inside the restaurant there were a bunch of flies doing their thing. There's nothing visible to take care of them and patrons typically prop the front door open when they're waiting to be seated or to put themselves down in the wait list. We were a party of 4 who had a below average server and lackluster food. My whole party either had over or undercooked food. We had to send more than one plate back. Drinks soon ran empty, top-ups were of myth and legend. If the server had been attentive and frequent, some of this could have been avoided. I've been to several other Grumpy's.
