We stopped there on our way to an Orioles baseball game. It was pretty busy on a Saturday morning, but we quickly got a spot at the counter. I had my usual senior citizens, pecan waffle with bacon and iced tea. Everything was great as usual. Love me a pecan waffle! Hubby had loaded hashbrowns with two eggs on top! He gobbled it right up! What can I say about Waffle House that hasn't been said by countless others? Waffle House is a familiar sight down here in the southeastern United States. It's bright yellow neon sign has drawn in countless people across the generations to enjoy their food and perhaps even the old school diner vibe of the place. My favorite item at Waffle House is by far their hash browns and it really sets them apart. This particular location is just off the highway and was across the street from my hotel. Good food fast Waffle House restaurants have been serving up good food fast for a long time, my visit today for breakfast definitely fit that slogan. This Waffle House is always open, very convenient for travelers along I-75 and for anyone hungry. I stopped in just after 6, there were only a few customers. This was my first Waffle House experience and I absolutely loved it. We sat at the counter and I was able to watch the orchestra of orders coming in and being prepared. It was truly impressive. I knew ahead of time that everyone has their own favorite way to top their hash browns. I went plain and loved them! So buttery and crisp. Huge fan. It's busy and bustling, so not a place to come for a quiet, intimate conversation ;) Standard WH menu that comes out blazing fast and accurate. Coffee is sufficient. Waffles tasty as ever. No real vegan options, few vegetarian, but enough. Only critique here - the entry door squeaks every time it's opening REALLY LOUDLY such that it startles every single time. Ha! The waffles are great and come in different flavors. Recently I noticed they even had a healthy choice menu that includes grilled chicken. The service is always great as you a greeted with a smile. There is never an issue when you want to modify a menu item. Your food arrives in a timely manner. The manager is usually in close proximity if you require assistance. The prices are reasonable and haven't increased in a few years. There is also a value menu available with prices starting at $2. This is one of my favorite breakfast spots. read more

Let me start by saying I NEVER have any high expectations when I decide to grab breakfast at a Waffle House location. However, the least of my expectations is to be able to sit at a table and not have spilled milk on the seats. When I brought the issue to the attention of the waitress, her response was "It's clean, I just wiped it down ". I had to literally ask her to clean the milk off the seating area. Of course she couldn't reach so I had to grab the dirty rag and wipe the milk off myself then hand it back to her (I guess walking around the counter to see what I was referring to was not an option for the waitress). I placed my order, which was a very simple order (2 eggs over medium, side of white toast and waffle). She completely missed my toast and looked at me as if it were something new I was now adding to my order. Needless to say, the experience at this location was horrible in addition to the flies and disgusting food preparations area (see photos). I wouldn't recommend this location to anyone unless you are partaking in some medical/penicillin trial and want really put it to the test. The owner(s) of this location should be cited for the unsanitary conditions they are serving the public food. read more

I wasn't expecting much, but just wanted to step in and see what this place is all about, since they seem to be ubiquitous here in the southern states. Damn, I can't believe I've been deprived all these years; Californians has yet to be blessed with its greasy, glutonous goodness. My god! I never knew hash browns could be so good, and prepared so many ways - scattered, smothered, covered, mothered... as long as they're in my mouth I was happy. They were so greasy, I didn't expect them to be so good. I also had a jalapeno biscuit with egg, bacon, and cheese. Hard to mess up a fried egg and bacon, but that jalapeno biscuit was slap-your-own ass good, and also kind of greasy. Was a little confused by the mayo packet that came with my breakfast. Is that a southern thing? A Waffle House thing? A good thing I should have tried? So damn cheap too. Now I'm thinking maybe it's a good thing I don't have easy access, or I'd be waddling for damn sure. This place will make you appreciate grease, butter, and pork products. Fast breakfast, nothing fancy, but always a delicious waffle. When in doubt, not in the mood to get dressed up, this spot is the southern diner. No matter what time, late or early, Waffle House is a save spot to catch a cheap eats. The staff has been there a while and get to know you. Waffle House used to be known for 24 hours dine in. I frequent often and tipped $20 every time regardless of the poor service. Richelle and a gentleman probably 70+ tonight had chairs blocking the entire dine in area claiming the dine in area was closed. I am often here on third shift with two workers but these two lazy workers decided to close down the lobby. Contacted corporate and will not ever visit this location again but thought you should know that Waffle House (at least in Sarasota FL) is not what it used to be. May want to find a respectful location where cashiers and cooks aren't running the place. read more

Walked in - not greeting, no one would even make eye contact with me, then once another couple came in they decided to acknowledge I was there. This is for the servers. They were the sort of old, sassy, I-don't-give-a-_____-about-you-or-anything-else type of servers. It was like something out of a movie . . . and for the time, place, and context, I loved it. That is, when I go to a place like WH, I want a cheap waffle, a glass of OJ, and some cheap hashbrowns (and cheap they were--the mushroom add-on contained mushrooms out of a can, so they were soggy, disgusting things). I don't want someone pretending to be my best friend. Maybe I have a different sense of "service" than others, but I'd rather have someone take my order, give me my food, fill my water, and move on. When I'm pounding waffles before a trip to the beach I don't need to tell you where I'm from or hear about your life story. I don't need you to flatter me.
