As a Wisconsinite taking my travel companion for her first time, it couldn't have been a better Waffle House experience! We went twice within 3 days! Day 1- ordered eggs, grits, cheesesteak sand-which w/ onions, hash browns with cheese and the LTO STRAWBERRY WAFFLE! Ask for the sugar free syrup! Fran was our server. Joey the cook served us our food FRESH and refreshed our beverages when Fran was busy. Joey also made fantastic recommendations to local watering holes, per Wisconsinite's request! Shout out to the Salty Pickle! Day 2- ordered cheesesteak sand-which with onions and BACON, more hash browns with CHEESE and onions (smothered), and sausage breakfast sandwich! Bon Bon (Bonnie) was our server and a cook we did not have the pleasure of meeting. However, we were greeted like family. Joey was there and checked in on our adventure and provided more recommendations! Fran was also working and chatted with us. Not very busy but service was slow. Manager seemed to be more interested in visiting with friend and smoking cigarettes than setting a good example and training a new waitress. Extra Clean and Staff were Extra Polite on Day Shift and Night Shift. It was cool they had a Waffle House greeter during the day. And at night the girl waitress and guy cook were really hustling and from the counter we saw everyone was enjoying their meals. read more

Honestly this place gets 2 starts just for the comedy and food. The staff members are terrible and we're "slammed" with only 5 customers in the restaurant. We walked in and being the servers that we are, we cleaned off a table to help them at and sit at because every single table in there was dirty with plates. We were told "ma'am don't sit at a dirty table, go sit over there until we seat you" we sat for 20 minutes waiting for an "open table" when only 2 were full. We witnessed the cook yell at a customer because they were trying to correct his order being yelled at by the server. They are incredibly rude and disrespectful toward paying customers. Honestly the worst Waffle House experience I've ever had. read more

Fucking trash. Walked in met some friends order waiter says about an hour. Ok that will work. that was fine. Folks come in after us get their food and leave before we get ours. I asked Justin how much long he says two more in fort of us. How could that be. We had been the longest ones waiting in the whole damn restaurant. Our family of four visited the Waffle House on Wednesday and we were totally overwhelmed at how delicious the breakfast tasted! My husband and I got the big breakfast which was more than enough for two people. We were amazed when they said the chef just started 3 days ago! The service was great and the manager stop by and asked was everything ok! We would like to give recognition to the super team that made our experience at the Waffle House an amazing one! To name the 7 wonders of the south one would have to factor in Waffle House. I'm not saying they are the best, they are just iconic. A symbol of breakfast and lunch (unknown to some) done simple and reasonable. The laminated, two side menu offers a limited menu of breakfast bowls, hash browns, eggs, sides and yes, waffles. Just don't be asking for pancakes. Lunch offers even less with a few Angus burgers and/or Texas melts. Some locations are known to serve T-bone steaks, pork chops and country ham, but I have to find one. I guess my quest is yet to be completed. Most seating is wrapped around the cooking area so servers can sling your order right to you from the grill. Otherwise, booth seating lines the walls. Even though it was lunchtime, I found myself ordering the Sausage, Egg & Cheese Hash brown Bowl. First a layer of hash browns fried to perfection with crispy edges, topped with 2 scrambled eggs, 2 Jimmy Dean Patties crumbled and 2 slices of melted American cheese. If I could give this 0 stars I would the waitress had an awful attitude towards everyone eating I think her name was tami not sure waited 30 minutes for jelly, and two waffles that were forgot about when our meals were brought out! And my bacon was burnt to a crisp so I asked for another order because I didn't want burnt bacon and she says "well how do you want it then" obviously not burnt and the poor cook was trying to keep up with the order and trying to fix mistakes! You know, waffle house catches a lot of negativity (Jim Gaffigan ;), and the prices seemed to have gone up over the years, but there is simple simplicity to a breakfast sandwich or a waffle. Waffle house has managed to stay consistent, what with the jukebox and the greeting when you walk in the door, like McDees, it doesn't really matter where you are, it's the same place anywhere and sometimes there is comfort to be had in that. Visiting while on vacation at Myrtle Beach, SC. The wait was LONGGG, the host wasn't the best & wasn't telling people to give their name so some just waited in line while others walked by to put their name down. The staff is very friendly & sang while cooking & serving breakfast. Our waitress was the happiest woman on this planet, big smile, ready to serve... loved her (I'm sorry to say I can't remember her name, my mind is terrible w names), she even offered me a to-go coffee. There are sooooo many restaurants on the South Strand, sometimes the food/service is great and sometimes its not. However,,,,the Waffle House never fails. Time after time my food is prepared to order, the servers are on top of their game. This crew always has a smile even on holidays. I think all the restaurants should set up a training seminar through Waffle House for their staff. read more

Would have given this place 1 star but Tyler our server bumped it up a little. This was only my second time at a Waffle House and I was kind of disappointed. The food was good, but the way the younger chef was treating our server Tyler was really sad and unfortunate. The place was super busy and the younger chef was visibly agitated with our server and was slamming dishes around. We could hear the younger chef talking about our server and complaining when he walked into the back. I almost feel as if this dude intentionally messed up Tyler's tables orders. Tyler was awesome and the other lady who was serving was super encouraging and helpful towards him. 10/10 for Tyler -10/10 for the younger chef bullying him. read more

I love Waffle House butthe staff here really needs a lesson in food handling hygiene. Waitress couldn't stop rubbing her nose and scratching her arms every five minutes. It really was gross to watch. Honestly the best Waffle House I've ever been too. The service was outstanding to say the least. We were able to get good "old fashioned southern hospitality" at a chain restaurant. Our waitress, Sabrina was so sweet and my drink never got below half empty. They even offered us a free waffle because they had made an extra one. As we were walking out this elderly couple was walking in and the staff already had to hot cups of coffee waiting for them in a booth. If you're near Surfside Beach, you must stop here for breakfast. read more

Small space but great service. C.J (our server)was AWESOME!!! He was helpful, funny and attentive. Refilled our drinks before empty and helped make our breakfast enjoyable. The competitor around the way took over an hour to not bring us our food that had already taken thirty plus minutes to place the order so we left. Our total time at Waffle House was less than 30 minutes waiting for a seat , ordering and eating. Food was better than good. Definitely recommend and ask for C.J as your server. read more

We have eaten here the last two mornings. The food is very good, well prepared. The cook was very accommodating with our special requests. The cook (I think his name was James) was SUPER friendly & really takes pride in his job! They were incredibly busy both mornings & James made it a point to thank everyone for waiting as well as apologizing for the wait. He explained they were currently short staffed. The staff that was there worked together like a well-oiled machine. So if you go anytime soon--BE PATIENT & offer some grace!! Our waitresses, Carla & Linsie, were both awesome ! Carla & Linsie were both very friendly, kept our glasses full, & got our food to the table hot. Everyone was busting their butts & did it with a smile & MOST EXCELLENT customer service!! Restaurant was clean and staff was courteous. They keep it so cold inside that your first cup of coffee is cool due to the mugs being so cold. I asked for the one dollar ad on orange juice and they gave me the large and in charge me accordingly. But the one main reason I won't be going back it's because every time I go to waffle house I wind up in a bathroom with explosive diarrhea within 15 minutes of leaving. read more
