Finally, a decent place to eat in the area!!!!!!! I've struggled for years to find a place that wasn't touristy, fried food, or seafood. I've also struggled to find a place with vegetarian options. This place is it! Plentyyyy of vegetarian options. Huge wine list. Great cocktail list. Can't beat the ocean view! The food was fresh and great for the area (everything lacked a bit of flavor though). But definitely the best place I've had in this area ! Sat at the bar with my sister. Only cocktails for us at Whistling Duck. Elena made me a delicious Margarita in a tall glass. Jane had an extra Dirty Martini with 3 olives. Solid visit here- views are gorgeous, service is fairly prompt, and boards are large for sharing. We got both cocktails and wine and they had a decent amount of wine options. The rose by the glass was nice and they use beautiful glassware. We tried the bruschetta with the mushroom one and the gouda one, we enjoyed that the bread was soft and toppings were plentiful. The Irish cheese board was good but for $34 I do wish they had a little more bread or crackers and a tiny bit mor meat for the price. Dirty martini was quite dirty and espresso martini was pretty good but could be a bit more foamy, it was a bit watery for my liking. When we wanted more bread we did not see the waitress for a bit to ask and by that time, our dinner reservation was waiting. Will come back more to try other things in the future! read more

Great location, great View and great staff! We were here on vacation and some friends took us to this new place. It overlooks the ocean and it's right on the pier. We had the infamous Italian Stallion charcuterie and a glass of wine. A charcuterie was enough for all four of us to share and we didn't even need to have dinner after. Great wine list also. Whistling Duck is a welcome alternative to all the large seafood oriented restaurants in this area. We are from California and we love wine and small plates and this place did not disappoint. The bruschettas (pick 3 of 5 - great to be able to try a few) and the artichokes with lemon aioli were fantastic. We also had a nice arugula salad. We almost ordered the southern oriented charcuterie - but we couldn't eat any more. We were able to view it and it was huge - would easily serve 3-4 people. The wine list was nice. A little bit pricey but worth it for the pairing with the food and the view, with the restaurant sitting right on the Surfside pier. We also enjoyed the ambience of a smaller quieter place after having sat through a raucous dinner at one of the Murrell's Inlet bit restaurants. The staff we attentive and the head of the kitchen even came out and chatted with us for awhile. We strongly recommend this place for a peaceful and delicious change of pace. read more

We were 5 ladies celebrating 2 birthdays and ordered a variety of shareable plates and it was all delicious! The dates with feta and hot honey, to die for. The crispy artichokes, so good. A super nice place with a beautiful array of delicious, different offerings. It's a bit more upscale than the normal beach Surfside restaurants offering all the same kind of food. We were greeted and sat immediately. We started with the bruschetta pictured, 5 was our favorite but all were tasty. I got the chicken herb sandwich which tasted amazing. We have now been here 3X in the 3 weeks thats how much we LOVE this place. Wine and drink selections are very good. Food and small plates were all so delicious. Today was my sisters birthday so We went for lunch. Perfect place to spend an afternoon with my family. The food was amazing and incredible. The Owner came over to our table. Husband and I are in town for our son's 21st birthday on Monday. Tonight we were looking for something different from the normal Surfside/Myrtle Beach fare. We settled on this lovely wine bar on the Surfside pier. The view is truly spectacular and we would have enjoyed even a lunchable with that view. But, the Whistling Duck delivered in every way tonight! Our server was just delightful - friendly, but not overbearing and she made some tasty recommendations without pressure. The wine list is impeccable and extremely reasonable for the wines offered. I enjoyed an Italian Pinot Grigio and my husband really loved his Tempranillo/Rioja. For our first small plate, we split three bruschetta, and they were beautiful, creative and delicious. For me, my half of the bruschetta was pretty much dinner. We saw servers walking by with their charcuterie plates and we quickly decided it was way more food than we needed for 2 people. We settled on the stuffed speck appetizer and it was another creative, delicious small dish. We also ordered a grilled veggie sandwich to split, but we were full after the speck and now we have lunch for tomorrow. I highly recommend this elegant, but still beach-vibe wine bar. read more

In regards to my visit to Hot Fish, I'd say I was most impressed with the bartenders at the establishment, who did a great job under pressure. Even though the place was packed, and especially the bar area, they did a great job of remaining calm, and even got our drinks out in a relatively quick period of time. They also made some awesome blue Gatorade shots, which were some of the best shots I've ever had! I didn't necessarily love that there were cops standing guard at the entrance, but the bar's own security staff and bouncers were really nice, which isn't something you see at every one of these places. The only downsides to the Hot Fish Club were that many of the plastic chairs in the outside area were broken and cracked, making it kind of hard to sit a large-sized group like ours (they had a lot of wooden tables, but they were all taken), and that the restroom situation was awful. According to the girls in our group, the actual, physical restrooms were disgusting, forcing them to use the giant line of porta potties. This isn't a huge deal for guys, but it was a little uncomfortable for the ladies. Other than that, Hot Fish was great, and I'd highly recommend stopping by!

They have a full gluten free menu. The kids menu also includes seafood which I appreciate for my seafood loving crew. I ordered the Fry Basket with Shrimp and Oysters. My mom ordered the same but also had flounder with it. My son ordered a Caesar salad with a side of fried flounder. Everyone was very impressed with the amount and quality of the food. I honestly didn't take great pictures because we were too busy eating! It was a very busy day the day we were there bc of the Kentucky derby party but we were still seated quickly and our food came out fairly quickly. They take a lot of precautions when dealing with allergies and it was appreciated. They even identify that it is gluten free when they deliver the food as well. I can't wait to return and try the short rib macaroni and cheese. The ambiance is booths and tables around a bar. They also have a great outdoor space due kids to run around and play.
