The kids and I have tried to come here for breakfast on the weekend, but it's always too packed. We finally made it happen a few weekends ago when Papi was out of town. At the time this was the closest Waffle House to my neighborhood...It looked like the brand new one on Waters was open yesterday when I drove by! I guess Waffle House is nostalgic for me. In my high school and college days a Pecan Waffle or patty melt always hit the spot after dancing all night at the club. It was also a good place for me and the boyfriend at the time to come for breakfast...no need to get all fancy and show up with bed head. Back then they had a special menu where you can pick all you can eat items made to order. If always get teased by the roommate for not eating bacon or not putting enough syrup on my waffle. LOL memories. Since I'm not a frequent diner I notice the menu options are always different. Same food...just presented in different value deals. The food is just basic diner food. I like it better than Denny's or IHOP. It's small, but you can see how everything is being cooked and the service seems to be consistent across all waffle houses in every state I've tried one in. I love Waffle House waffles and they did not disappoint. The waffle was so good! Our server Trish was very kind. She kept telling us to order this and it would be cheaper. She kept trying to give us the best value for our money. I wanted a waffle, hash browns, and one scrambled egg. She said if I got two eggs( that came with the meal, and meat we would save $2. ) I let my husband choose the meat since I don't eat it. Service was lighting fast. Worst customer service! They Never answer the phone. I live 3 blocks away, try to call in my order... no answer. I drive there and the place is empty while the workers are smoking out back. Waffle House was a loved little divvy place my family used to stop at every year when we would travel south until they just fell off and became known as AWFUL HOUSE! This chain of restaurants became nasty, full of filth with bad greasy food. When you got a good one the place was a gem but if you got a bad one then you better go get yourself checked out for poisoning. I was thrilled to see they were building a new location on Hillsborough Avenue. It was not far but in a good location I could get to especially if the food and service was good. I went a week after the Grand opening and it was packed. Cars were turning around because there was no parking. My sister and I came back the following day and got in. Breakfast was awesome! The service was great, food was good, place was clean and the staff was working together like a well-oiled machine. I think I get a little beyond myself and decided to come back the next day because I didn't want to cook and had a patty melt. Well I must sadly report is was dry, tough, stale and burnt. The night crew was not cooking, flipping and frying like the day crew. Another thing that I noticed was that the spilling's from the waffle iron station was not cleaned. This place is too new to be slipping already. Someone put a lot of time and effort into building this location for it to flop already. Well...I had to make sure it wasn't a fluke..so I tried going 3x for them to redeem themselves BUT....my final conclusion? The night crew SUCKS!! I've NEVER had an issue with the day crew...EVER...and I've eaten here lots of times....but 3 out of the 4x I've eaten at night...I've gotten a regular cheeseburger when I paid for chili bacon...got the wrong order....and had to ask for the drink, chili and pancake that I paid for on separate occasions... That's just ridiculous...I do notice it's a younger crew at night...but that shouldn't be an excuse...I'll just stick to the day crew from now on and go to McDonald's if I get off work late and need something quick to eat at night...never again will I spend money here at night read more

I hadn't been to a Waffle House in about 8 years before stopping into this location and it was exactly how I remembered it: Good, cheap and quick. I sat down, ordered my meal, scarfed it down, and was in and out of there in 15 minutes. Not many places that aren't fast food can do that nowadays. My server was efficient and got me everything I needed and my meal tasted just fine. The value for what you get is impressive. My check was under $6 and I felt like I had just eaten like a king. While most places are charging $3-$4 for just a breakfast sandwich, there is no doubt that Waffle House has better value. There's a new restaurant in town that opened up just last week. It's something you're all familiar with, the Waffle House . The new location is on the corner of Hillsborough Avenue West & Hesperdies. Some have been excitedly waiting for this arrival. There are fast food restaurants and then there's the iconic fast food restaurants that we grew up with. To mention to crystals and waffle house. I'm not going to say either one of them have terrific food or better better better than that but they should serve their purpose. Whether it's the middle of the night or first thing in the morning always a great gathering spot. Whether it's a place to meet your friends or grab a quick meal have a cup of coffee it's always a place that takes you back to a certain time in your life. They do have great breakfasts. Waffle House is of course famous for their waffles but I don't even eat waffles. They do have great breakfast , sandwiches burgers salad soups chili just about anything you could want. The thing I like about these what I call iconic fast food restaurants is you feel like you're in the middle of the action. You have a staff that cooks and the servers talking back and forth to each other about orders on what needs to go down then how about eggs should be and hash browns scattered or smothered or however you would order them. That's just the dynamic different feeling, I get, rather than being in a typical fast food restaurant it's kind of a cross between a diner and a fast food restaurant. I think their food is a good value and well done. It's nice to have the hash browns all different kinds of ways as well as perfect eggs anyway you order them. Or whatever you decide to choose off the menu to eat for that time of day or morning or wee hours of the morning. I just have to say I've got a lot of fond memories of Waffle House as a young adult & it's nice to have one close by so that it can fill the void from time to time. What's a girl to do? I just made a $29.00 mistake of dining here. A large portion of the staff were in training to work at another site currently being erected on W. Waters Ave. near my home. I ordered eggs fried HARD ( first and second orders were runny). My smothered hashbrowns had no onions. My guest's eggs were runny as well. I spoke with the manager and informed him that even though the cooks were in training didn't excuse them from putting out a quality product. If i am given training food i should pay with training money! Definitely won't be dining at the new site. read more

The staff here is great, but my experience at all the other WH has always been great. Food is a bit greasy, but I mean is WH, I don't go in expecting anything healthy. My bf loves their grilled chicken, and the chocolate chip pancakes are delicious! I don't really have any complaints about this location. Maybe the only thing I would have to complain about is that this location is way too close to my house. Seriously, getting out of the gym at night and not stopping by here has been harder than my A&P class in college. I've eaten at this location twice so far because it is close to a local car audio group hangout up the street. Each visit was after midnight on a Saturday-Sunday. I had the same waitress each visit. Altho she is friendly and cordial, she is also very forgetful. She forgot drinks, a whole order and a side order. I attributed it to how busy they were. This time, it wasn't the case. My friend and i placed our order and started to talk, then about 5min later as she was serving our other friends their food she asked if we wanted to change our egg order to omelets like out friend was served because she did not place our order yet.... 5 min! She also needed a second reminder of my friends drink order. The kitchen is literally in front of us. She stood their another 2min just chatting with her coworkers before placing our order. Meanwhile, the people that walked in about 10min after us were getting their food served to them. So we get our food. The orders were correct with no errors, except for the mustard packet buried in my scrambled eggs..... It's not like it was a bandaid so inlet it slide. The food is always delicious, and our server was very polite, but forgetting an order a few seconds afterwards.... Come on. Then it just comes off as rude when you have to remind them.
