I think that, in the last 10 to 20 years, I've probably eaten at this Denny's at least 3 times. Its performance is consistent. The restaurant, updated to the chain-wide boilerplate look, is clean and reasonably appealing. Sitting out by the front windows is always preferable to me. This way, you can keep an eye on your rented sled in the parking lot. However, note that that is optional ... this is a fairly nice area with retail and offices and the parking lot is amply sized. I've typically been to this Denny's in the evening to get a quick dinner and some coffee. They have a good slate of comfort food entrees with a few sides as well as burgers and sandwiches. Realistically, you can eat anything you want from the menu at any time. Not only that, I'm usually getting a text or other reminder to stop in for some deal, so there's always something going on that brings a small discount with it. The service has always been effective. However, in obtaining service, you may have a female server (that would be a waitress) who tends to overshare a little bit, which sort of happens in Florida because people are from so many places and they openly talk about life. But, sometimes, I just want affable service and my meal in a reasonable time - something they do deliver on - and not material for lyrics for a Bonnie Raitt song. When I had to pick a Denny's here years ago, I landed on this one on Dale Mabry. I couldn't forget that name because a friend of mine went for training in Tampa Bay and said the training site was off of Dale Mabry. Also, I like this name because it has both a twangy vibe and seems like the name of a televangelist who could keep company with Tammy Faye. (I'm going to feel bad if this is or was a person of import in Tampa's or Florida's history.) If that's not enough for you, the name of the next exit on I-275 is Lois Ave. That these exits would be adjacent to each other in Tampa's Westshore area is a little trippy. read more

Denny's has been around for years but did you know the restaurant has a rewards program. You can discounts and free breakfast on your birthday. I got the Everyday Slam which included buttermilk pancakes, bacon and scrambled eggs. It was so good. The wait staff is so nice and friendly. I took the last flight from Atlanta to Tampa and after picking up my rental car I decided to get some food. I was going to go to another food spot that's opened late other than fast food off of Hillsborough but instead I stopped at Denny's nearby by the airport instead. When I walked in a gentleman who ended up being my actual server was assisting other customers who were checking out. instead of waiting I just grabbed a menu and utensils and sat myself in a booth. On my way to a table I was greeted with a smile by a woman who I now know as Yanette G. After I sat down I looked at the menu and the gentleman server came by to take my drink request. When I saw Yanette again I waved her down to get her attention and she walked over to my table. I asked "Are you gonna be my server? 'cause I thought it would be you." She asked why would you think? And I told her because you greeted me with a smile when I walked in and that caught my attention but the gentleman is the one who took my order. She mentioned to me that they take turns and she didn't want to take me away as his customer. I told her I understand and respect that but thanks anyway. She complimented my neatly manicured fingernails and I said thank you. As the night went on the male waiter brought out my food in a timely manner so I didn't have to wait long. I ordered extra marinara sauce for my mozzarella sticks which is a go to appetizer for anyone who personally knows me. Food was at a great temperature and the food quality was also good. After receiving my final bill Yanette was the one who checked me out and asked about my overall food experience and I told her that I enjoyed myself. She then shared with me that a previous customer didn't pay for their soup and that she would have to cover the cost on her own. I told her that I would cover it and she was so grateful that I did such a kind gesture. I simply told her to pay it forward when it's your turn to help the next person when the opportunity presents itself. She also complimented the hat I was wearing that said "spiritually hungry" and I said it's one of my favorites. I'm a frequent flyer now primarily for leisure and sometimes for work coming down to Tampa bi-weekly or at least once a month so when I come back to the city I used to live in it's a great feeling receiving exceptional customer experience. It was superb customer service overall especially from Yanette and I'll definitely come again the next time I'm back in town. read more

Visited for breakfast with the in-laws and our server Summer, or as I called her June 21, was amazing. Even though they were slammed and short staffed, she kept drinks refilled and checked on us. It is your typical Denny's, but service was good and food was quick. Maybe when I came the chef was tailoring some menu items, but someone loved to slather on the butter. Bite of scrambled eggs, full of butter. English muffin, drowning in butter. I had to scrape off the part not melted in. It looked like a slice of cheese because there was so much butter. I came back next time and said light butter and it was fine. I think that should go without saying though. Butter is good but sometimes less is more. read more

Bingo! Finally found a place that has the perfect combination of waitstaff and cooks. My wife and I ate here while visiting Tampa last week. We were seated right away and our server, Cheryl, was absolutely Top Tier. The food was still hot and fresh long after we started eating. With the sounds of Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer" blasting, I walked in to Denny's knowing that the place may be the ultimate death of me. My daughter, who loves Denny's, coaxed me in for breakfast before school. The restaurant was nearly desolate, unlike the many drunken nights that I spent in that very restaurant during my college days. As we were led to our table, the floor was so slippery and greasy that I was able to emulate the feeling of being on ice skates, so we skated on to our table. We were sat at a table that was sticky from previous diners and we had to ask for it to be cleaned. COVID-19 be damned, right? I wondered how long the table sat that way, or if that was just the film that covered the room. This restaurant did not feel clean. At all... The service was not exactly quick either, especially considering there were hardly any other diners eating at the time. The staff seems to just be going through the motions on another slow day. I ordered the Biscuits and gravy - ehhh. It was obviously made from the microwave. The gravy was cold and lumpy, the biscuits seemed gelatinous. I found myself wishing I had ordered something else. The eggs and hash browns were slightly a notch above, but hardly redeeming. My daughter fared a little better by ordering the Double Berry Pancakes which were loaded with strawberries, blueberries and bananas high atop a stack of pancakes. She loved it. Our server was great! I really wish I'd noticed her name. She was very attentive & efficient, in spite of the bustle & late hour. We dined here around midnight on a Friday night, and the restaurant was quite busy. When ordering, I didn't want onions or peppers in my skillet, and our server said that was no problem. My skillet was served right off the grill & very hot. Greasy, yes, but I knew what I'd ordered. Hubs' meal must have sat for a few minutes because his sausage links were quite cold. However, our server brought him fresh, hot sausage links almost immediately after he waved her down. He complained to me later about something else being cold on his plate, but didn't bother speaking up because the restaurant was so hectic. Unfortunately during our visit, we spotted both a roach and a centipede/worm-thing from our table. The roach was not far from the kitchen; I probably wouldn't have mentioned it because this is Florida. I'm not new here. But then we spotted the worm thing with lots of legs on the floor by the booth next to us. So I was just grossed out at that point. On top of hubs' cold food, these insect issues (what is a centipede?!) added up to a barely mediocre experience. Who doesn't love Denny's? No matter what I get there I love it. Took my 2 year old granddaughter for her first time. She ate all of her food. That right there tells me it's Goood!! Lol. The lady making the balloons for the kids is a great touch. For a last minute go to place one will always appreciate the Denny's on Dale Mabry. Back again!! Yep. Denny's is becoming a definite go to place. No matter how busy they are on a Saturday, you still get to enjoy the experience and treated great. We were sat pretty quick. Nice hot coffee was brought to us. My husband loves their coffee. He recommends every adult should have one cup. Lol. I enjoyed the meat lovers slam. As did my husband. I stopped into Denny's for breakfast at 2004 Dale Mabry in Tampa and Brian greeted me very enthusiastically. He seated me right away and provided drinks and a menu. He checked on me throughout my visit there. The food was really good. I asked for the hash browns to be EXTRA brown and the chef did a great job!! I ordered a Philly cheesesteak omelet, one I had never had before, and it was cooked beautifully. Once you've been to one Denny's you've practically been to them all. This one is no exception. Your typical 24 hour diner style franchise right here. Me and my wife went in after a movie screening and we were seated right away. That's about where the fast service ended though. There were only a few other parties there before us but fifteen to twenty minutes after being seated, those other groups were being served. It just took a really long time (almost 30 minutes) for them to make a breakfast sandwich and pancake special with hash browns. Don't get me wrong, the food was hot when it came out and it tasted good. The hash browns had a crunchy outside and soft inner layer that mixed well with the sausage and bacon. Everything mixed well with the fluff pancakes. If you're looking for that diner style breakfast you can't go wrong with Denny's and if you don't mind the wait you can check this one out. read more

We didn't have a set waiter so ordering food and drinks got a little confusing. I ordered the cali club sandwich which was pretty good. My boyfriend ordered the dulce de leche pancakes with sunny side up eggs but they gave him cinnamon roll pancakes and scrambled eggs.
