Stumbled upon Keke's when in Tampa the other month, & am so glad that I did! This cute breakfast cafe is the perfect way to start off your day! It gives homey vibes & the service is super friendly. This is a go to place for a quality (& filling) classic breakfast with some fun twists! I went with the scrambler bowl & it was delicious! I liked how you could customize whatever you wanted in it & the portion size was massive! The French toast looked amazing & they have some great breakfast cocktail options as well! I ordered the Western omelette and considered chicken and waffles as they sounded good. Husband got keke breakfast and was not impressed. The Hash browns were really greasy and weird tasting. The Omelet I ordered was mostly veges and barely any egg. The Pancakes were a little "gummy" (not cooked throughly) My daughter Asked for over medium eggs and got over easy. Very runny and cold. Food was ok. Kind of pricey considering... We had a table of 6. Our server kept saying they were busy so our food was going to be a while but there was no line and half the tables were empty. We were given plastic utensils but were eating there... At a table. I got coffee and a water to start. Coffee was brought to me in a regular coffee mug but the water was brought to me in a to-go coffee cup. The napkin quality was so bad that pieces of it stuck to my lips when using it... Reminded me of cheap toilet paper. I got a turkey club with an egg. It was huge and super tasty. But it's frustrating that the standard side is kettle chips and they aren't even made in house. After running some quick errands that morning, we found ourselves at Keke's in the Carrollwood area. We were totally unaware of the Keke's franchise and thought that it was going to be a local cafe. We discovered almost immediately that it was not the case. Keke's Breakfast Cafe can be compared to an IHops or Denny's, hosting, in most part, the same sort dining ambiance and atmosphere. In comparison, however, Keke's appears to offer more healthy and less greasy options. Don't be disappointed - you won't necessarily be able to take any "-gram worthy" photos here. The food is presented and plated in rather simple and straightforward fashion. However, the reason that you are here is to eat, no? The food does just that in satiating your appetite, without making you hate life; the portions are perfect. The service at this specific Keke's was good. The waitress and server had great attitudes and was incredibly pleasant with our young daughters. Visited here with my mom the other day and our stomachs were definitely growling. Thankfully our waitress's was super quick and helped us with our orders making sure they came out asap! I always love a yummy omelette but keke's doesn't play about their portions, they are the opposite of stingy. The coffee options are just plain black coffee which was decent but i'm definitely a latte person. It's always nice to sit and talk while enjoying the vibes of the restaurant. read more

Came here on Father's Day and this was by far the worst experience. We arrived about 1230, it took about 15 mins to get seated which was fine. However, after that it was just bad. We placed our drink order and that was fine, got the drinks quickly. Then we placed our food order just before 1 o'clock. About 30 mins later the waiter said the kitchen was running behind. We asked how much longer, he said he would go check and came back with some of the food. I don't know if it was the kitchen or the wait staff that was the issue. I say this because the first orders that came out was the kids food which one order was the banana and Nutella stuffed French toast. When it came the the table it was cold and hard like it had been sitting in the window for about 15 mins or so. I ordered the scrambled bowl with peppers, spinach and tomatoes. It came out with onions on it. The waiter said it was a mistake and asked if I would be ok with it. I do not care for onions, we had already been waiting 30 mins, and didn't want to just settle for something I didn't order. I told the waiter that would not be ok and to just take it back and remove it off the bill. I didn't order anything else due to the time it had already taken. Then my boyfriend's food came out and he ordered cheesy grits and again it was cold and the cheese had hardened, again making me believe it had been sitting in the window for a while. We tried to put some butter and mix it up but it was just cold and pasty at that point. Very disappointed at how much the food and service has gone down as this used to be a place we enjoyed coming too. Then to see a bill for $70 for 3 breakfast meals was insane. This is just a normal little breakfast place, eggs pancakes, grits, nothing fancy. I understand inflation has been hitting everyone, but again a year ago we came here and it was closer to $50 for 4 meals, which wouldn't be so bad. However the prices here are way off balance for the service and food quality. Then as I went to use the restroom Im looking at jelly packets and empty straw wrappers on the floor where the wait staff gets the supplies. I don't see us returning here anymore. read more

Kekes is such a go to when it comes to breakfast. I'm a little sad that the closest one from Miami is all the way in Boca Raton. I ordered is the five egg whites combo. I like it because it was very filling and it is also healthy. You're getting a nice breakfast without feeling guilty. The service was really good as well. There was no line when we went, but it was starting to pick up the pace. Our waitress always came back to check on us. This location in particular is a prime one because not only is it close to the Petstore, it is also close to Sprouts. This is a perfect place for a one stop shop. read more

Wanted to find a place that offered breakfast after 1 and we got lucky to find Kekes open til 2:30 on Sundays. There wasn't a wait at all and we were seated promptly. There was a weird vibe between the hostesses at the front counter and that's the reason for 1 less star. On to the food- The hot chocolate was very good. Definitely worth it on this cold rainy day. A good place for brunch especially if you like sweet stuff! I got the banana split waffle and my partner got the raspberry stuffed french toast. My meal was pretty yummy, I really loved the addition of pineapple and despite all the crazy stuff on it, it wasn't so sweet to give me a toothache. The waffle itself was good, but it kinda had a funny consistency; very chewy and almost hard to cut like an Eggos waffle. I prefer waffles to be just a little crispy, so it was a little weird but EH. I also got a plain iced coffee, and I was surprised by how much I liked the brew they use, it has a very roasted flavor to it. Overall I thought the food was good, but I think we both wished everything was a little warmer. Experience was good for the most part, inside was nice and clean, art on the walls is cute, and if you like booths pretty much every table here is one. We ended up visiting this Keke's location twice while we were nearby in Tampa due to seeing they were listed as one of the top three breakfast places in the Tampa area in 2022. The first time I got the apple cinnamon stuffed French Toast that was very good, but could use a little more filling. C got the banana granola waffle that was tasty! The coffee was good and plentiful. The second visit I got the Florida waffle which came with the equivalent of about 20 bananas, fresh strawberries, and blueberries. It was fantastic. C got banana walnut pancakes that were DELICIOUS and way too much!! They'll be breakfast tomorrow too!! A got an egg bowl with home fries and toast and the highlight was the home fries - not the usual dried potato cubes you get some places. These were amazing. Service was excellent both times and plenty of seating and no waiting on a weekday morning. Definitely recommend. read more

Arrived about 1:30 on Sunday. Issues I encountered were: Asked for unsweetened iced tea - received sweet tea. Replacement was very weak tea, so I asked for coffee. No regular coffee, and no more was going to be made. They had decaf, which I declined. Food was ok but omlette was not real meaty. Grits were very stiff. No dedicated server. Each one left except the last one. No one came for my check so I went up front. Person there verified I was.checking out, then promptly left. Second employee did the same. Then my last server checked me out and turned away without saying thank you or anything else. This is my nearest KeKe's, but I won't be returning. I'm a fan of Keke's restaurant. They have a large menu and are open for breakfast and lunch. Upon entering this location of Keke's we were greeted by the sweetest hostess, I think her name was Kamara?? She showed us to our table where our server Immediately approached our table. She offered a drink or coffee while we looked over the menu. Again, our server was the sweet young lady named Shayla who had a bubbly personality and a smile. I decided on a combination breakfast which was eggs, bacon, home fries and a waffle. My husband chose to create his own omelette. Everything was delicious and arrived to our table quickly. This restaurant is in a center with many stores so there is a huge parking lot. read more

I ordered a build your own omelet and told her I didn't want any sides, she responded with "well it comes with a side, I can bring you some fruit." Then charges $3.50 for the said fruit. Something that I didn't want. 50 cent add on for each colored pepper and $1.50 for bacon. $22.49 for an omelet. Want chocolate chips on your kids pancakes? That'll be an additional 50 cents. I've been wanting to try KeKe's for some time. Of all days that we decided to visit, it was the first day that restaurants could be open at 100% capacity. To say that they were slammed was an understatement. Every table was filled, which is something that I haven't seen in awhile. I'll admit, it was unnerving, but the restaurant was overall clean. Social distancing guidelines may be out the window, but masks are still required. I've been craving waffles for some time, so I ordered the Banana Nut Caramel Waffle. Yes, the waffle was delicious, I just wish that I could have enjoyed more of the flavor. With only 6 sparsely populated pieces of banana atop my waffle, I was hugely disappointed. By comparison, my youngest daughter ordered the Florida Waffle. It was littered with mounds of fruit. So much so that she could not eat it entirely. My wife ordered the Bacon Tomato and Cheese Panini with an added egg requested to be cooked over easy. Unfortunately, the egg came fully cooked and was not the oozing yolk that she was anticipating. My older daughter ordered the Turkey Club Sandwich. Here is where KeKe's made some redemption. The sandwich was enormous, so much so, that you would need to unhinge your jaw to eat a full bite. A plate of chips engulfed the remainder of her plate. Other side notes are that the coffee supply is endless and they offer flavored creamer by the plateful if you are so inclined. The Apple Juice was ENORMOUSLY sized (and priced) for a young child. A smaller size should have been noted. The service was exceptional and Joshua made sure that we had everything that we needed once the food came to the table. Unfortunately, I doubt we will be back any time soon because of the hit and miss proportions in the kitchen. For as much as we paid for a breakfast meal, I shouldn't be leaving hungry. read more

I am writing this review in hopes of the management team reviewing their reviews as they should care about their business. Not sure if this location is considered a franchise or is part of their 8 company-owned restaurants. Nevertheless, I placed a to-go order back on 10/27 @ their Carrollwood location and the front counter hostess, Anna was beyond rude. It was like she was mad that she had to work in fast food and displayed such a negative energy from the time I walked in the door. Long story short, we had an exchange of words regarding her attitude as I immediately brought it to her attention. She proceeded to be confrontational after being called out about her poor attitude. I reminded her that she chose to work in this type of customer-focused environment and that she could always find another place to work, if she didn't want to interact with people. I requested to speak with the manager on duty. A young man by the name of Nick came out and spoke with me regarding my concerns. He immediately sent Anna back to the kitchen area and out of the front of the lobby where other guest could hear her vent. Extremely pleasant young man that handled the situation very professionally. If you want my opinion, I would highly recommend that you keep her away from the guests as much as possible until she can get a grip of her emotions and understand that customers is what aids in her receiving a paycheck and the business being viable. Not certain I would entrust in her to work in the kitchen and not be tempted to tamper with the food out of frustration as her maturity level just isn't there. Perhaps washing dishes, wiping down tables, sweeping and keeping the restrooms tidy would be the best place for her in the interim. She's pretty young so I'm pretty certain she doesn't connect the dots on many things about life and business. However, as an owner or General Manager of this location, I am pretty sure you care about customer retention. The food was decent so I rate the service an overall 2 star, instead of a 1 star for that reason. Kudos to Nick for displaying great customer service and leadership skills! read more

Keke's is favorite of mine when I am visiting the Tampa area. The menu and service are always good --- and I never leave hungry (larger portions). You can't go wrong with their omelets or just basic egg entrees. Do note that not all the entree's come with meat -- so be sure to add some on. I have found their 'ham' to be the best. read more

Just went here for breakfast with my 90 year old momma. The air was on 70 and all fans running. I had a jeans jacket on and it was still cold. I asked the server if they could just turn down the fan. He said two different times that he had asked the manager and he wouldn't answer him either time. SO my suggestion is just speak truth. SAY- if you can't - no worries. So I paid for the coffees (which I shouldn't have, I did not take a drink) and we left. That's the last $8.50 that they will get from me. I'm not mad- just tired of confusion. Andrew served us with excellence and care. My 95-year-old mother-in-law ordered oatmeal with bananas and an English muffin. When her bowl of oatmeal was not as hot as she likes Andrew brought her another bowl that was STEAMING hot! She was SO happy! I was delighted to find out that I could get GLUTEN FREE FRENCH TOAST! It was Amazing; some of the best I've ever had...anywhere! I added two scrambled eggs and cheese grits. I know, that's a lot of carbs but I'm always ready for grits if they are on the menu, especially cheese grits! The eggs were cooked well, just the way I love them. Keke's is a nice, quiet place to eat where you can actually hear your table partner speaking. This is so helpful for my MIL. There are fewer and fewer quiet places to eat in Tampa. Despite the current construction and renovation of the shopping center with a new Barnes and Noble coming, we found a handicap parking please easily and made it safely inside walking under the scaffolding. We ordered the scramble bowl and 2 orders of chocolate chip pancakes off of the kids menu to pick up. The portions are very large, but the food lacked flavor. The rye toast did have something on it (not butter), unsure if it was margarine or oil-the menu didn't state it would have anything either. The pancakes were not chocolate chip at all but banana. I didn't pick the order up, but when it came back noticed. The kids are allergic to banana and couldn't eat them (and if you've ever had 2 kids looking forward to chocolate chip pancakes only to now have no breakfast....not a good way to start the morning). The pancakes came with smuckers syrup, no butter. There was silverware in the bag. With so many other options in Tampa, I'd probably try something else before going back, or would dine in. read more
