Says open 24/7 and they always tell us it's closed !! don't bother coming at night ! Morning shift is good though !

It says 24/7 open and I don't know why they don't want to serve people ! We've came a couple a times at night just to see them on the phone and send us back home this time we took pics! Might as well be closed at night. Just saying

Have visited several times since opening. Service was just finally getting better. Still couldn't get the prices right. But was slowly improving overall. This time, it makes me wonder why "Waffle House" never closes. Most of the restaurant was closed. Someone had been washing windows. But did not finish (maybe cooking?), and floor, seats, etc. All were wet. Thank you that you didn't let us sit in it. But just lost 7 hungry customers tonight... Maybe $70+

Our friends have been here before and wanted us to try it out since it's been around since 1955 --…read morethat alone made me curious! It's located right in the heart of downtown Tucker, with plenty of parking on the side and a spacious interior, including a private dining room for large parties. We came around 2:30 PM, after the lunch rush, so it wasn't too busy. The setup is cafeteria-style -- you grab a tray, walk down the line, and let the servers know what you'd like. Everything is à la carte, with entrées around $6-$8 and sides about $2.50-$3, so you're looking at roughly $15 per person for a full meal -- not bad at all. Everyday they have a different set menu of what they serve so you get a mixture. We ordered a bit of everything. I'm a big meatloaf fan, so I had to try it -- but unfortunately, it didn't live up to my hopes. It didn't look very appetizing and the texture was overly ground and slightly gritty because it was a bit dry. It comes with your choice of gravy or marinara sauce, but honestly, I would've preferred some classic ketchup on top instead. The fried fish was mostly batter with very thin fillets, so there wasn't much substance there either. The country fried chicken, however, was the highlight -- large portion, well-cooked, and flavorful. Just note that once you add the gravy, it loses that crispy texture and becomes soggy. The sides were decent but nothing memorable, and the bread and hush puppies were pretty dry. Since everything is counter-service, there isn't much staff interaction. You pay upfront, find your own seat, and when you're done, you just leave your tray -- there aren't any trash cans to clear your own table. Overall, the experience was just okay. It's a neat place with history and friendly vibes, but the food didn't quite hit the "soul" level I was hoping for. There are definitely other country-style spots I'd try before coming back.

Our first attempt to visit Old Hickory House on Monday didn't work out because they're closed on…read moreMondays. Fortunately, we were still in the area and made it back today. Old Hickory House traces its roots back to 1955, and the Tucker location, which opened in 1974, is now the last remaining Old Hickory House restaurant. The place still has that classic Southern barbecue feel with wood-paneled walls, comfortable booths, and decades of history around every corner. Fans of Smokey and the Bandit will also recognize the famous Diablo Sandwich connection. According to restaurant lore, Jackie Gleason ad-libbed the line, "Give me a Diablo sandwich and a Dr Pepper, and make it fast. I'm in a hurry!" during the movie. The line became one of the film's most memorable quotes, and Old Hickory House proudly keeps the Diablo Sandwich on the menu today. After hearing how spicy it is, I decided to leave that challenge for someone else. I ordered the sliced pork platter with collard greens and a bowl of Brunswick stew. Most of the pulled pork I eat is shredded, so I decided to try sliced pork for a change. I enjoyed the different texture, and it actually changed the way the barbecue sauce interacted with the meat. The pork was tender and smoky with some excellent bark mixed throughout. The barbecue sauce was different from both the Carolina-style sauces and the thicker sauces I'm used to back home in Ohio. It wasn't overly thick, had a flavor all its own, and complemented the pork well. Our server made sure we never ran short, bringing out extra sauce whenever we needed it. The collard greens were very good. The leaves seemed larger and darker than many collard greens I've had elsewhere, and they were flavorful enough that I enjoyed eating them just as they were without adding anything extra. I've now had Brunswick stew at three different Georgia barbecue restaurants during this trip, and Old Hickory House's version was the most stew-like of the three. It was thicker, chunkier, and loaded with visible tomatoes, corn, and meat. The menu describes it as "zesty," and that's an accurate description. It had a little more kick than the other versions I've tried this week and was clearly a recipe they take pride in. The service was excellent. Our server was attentive throughout the meal and took care of all the little things that make a difference. She checked on us regularly, brought out extra sauces without hesitation, and even offered to-go beverages before we left. Nothing felt rushed, and she made us feel welcome from start to finish. One final note: the portions were generous. In fact, I couldn't even finish all of the sliced pork, so part of it came home with me for later. Old Hickory House isn't trying to be trendy or reinvent barbecue. It's simply continuing a tradition that has been serving the Atlanta area for more than seventy years, and there's something refreshing about that. If you're looking for classic Southern barbecue, homemade Brunswick stew, and a restaurant with a genuine sense of history, Old Hickory House is well worth a visit. As soon as you walk in, you smell the amazing barbecue aromas that are baked into the wood over the years. The restaurant looks just like it did back in the 70s when they filmed the smoky and the bandit there. That was greeted promptly by my server on my last visit as well as previous visits and they always do a good job checking up on you while you're eating to make sure you don't need anything else. I've eaten here three or four times in the last month. I just can't get enough of it!

It's an…read moreeasy spot to take guests from out of town or just swing by for a casual weeknight dinner. The drinks are strong, the menu is varied, and the service pretty consistent. Occasionally when seated out on the patio my partner and I have waited a while for food or to see our server, but the food is always tasty. I don't fault the servers for this, they're all really accommodating, sometimes it's just that busy! The drinks are also consistently strong & delicious, our favorites are the Mason Jar Margarita and the Tucker Tea (bourbon & sweet tea). The prices for cocktails are excellent and I hope that doesn't change any time soon. For eats, my partner gets the Steak and Frites, and would like people to know that if you tell this kitchen you want it rare, it'll be very rare bordering on bloody, so if you want on the rare side without it mooing, order medium rare. The Fish & Chips are good, but I usually go for the chicken tenders because they're tender and well-seasoned, and the fries are really good too. I get it with the delicious house-made ranch. When I indulge in an appetizer it's the basket of fried jalapeños that pair great with the aforementioned ranch and is a great portion to share with friends. If you aren't into the spicy vibe you can get a basket that's half jalapeños, half pickles which is equally tasty. I've brought plenty of people here and from the salads to the burgers, they've been consistently happy with the food. For desserts, they change daily- check the big chalkboard on the wall for the day's offerings. They source them from Southern Sweets Bakery so you know they're delicious. Parking is a little iffy but not terrible, you have the options of Main St, the parking lot around back, or the strip of parking across the street and between those options it tends to be fairly easy to find a free spot. Give them a shot!

My husband got wings which were listed as jumbo. They were an ok size, but definitely not jumbo. He did like the taste of the hot wings. I got the southwestern quesadilla which was ok. The quesadilla was not completely filled to capacity. I wouldn't order it again though. The chips and salsa that came with it were terrible. The chips tasted like those fried chip things you put in your won ton soup at a Chinese restaurant and the salsa was inedible. It tasted like it had gone bad or they just make a gross salsa. The best part was the fried basket with pickles and jalapeños. Those were very good except $10 seemed a bit high for this appetizer. $7 or $8 would make more sense. If we ever go back I would try a hamburger as I hear they are huge. But, then again, the wings weren't jumbo.

We quickly found a spot up front and entered. Nobody was at the host podium for a minute and then someone came around and greeted us warmly. We let him know we would like a table for three outside. He said that would not be a problem, handed us menus and said head outside to pick our table. After a few minutes our very friendly server, Patricia, came out to greet us. We quickly reviewed the beverages.. I was happy to see they had an extensive beer selection. I ordered a Creature Comfort Bigger Dreams, Wifey ordered a Mango Cart and my daughter ordered a Kingston Peach frozen drink. The drinks came out quickly and then we were pretty much ready to order our food. Wifey ordered Barbecue Nachos with turkey. I ordered 10 wings, all drums, with a mixture of 2 flavors: the Peach BBQ and Pineapple Chipotle. I picked Tatter Tots as my side. My daughter ordered the Sweet Heat Salmon bowl. She said they had her at "Coconut Rice" in the dish description. We sat outside and I noticed there were TVs everywhere. Perfect set up for a warm afternoon. Before we knew it, the food was coming out. I loved my wings and was happy with the flavors I chose. Wifey commented her nachos could've been a little warmer, but she really enjoyed them. I tasted a corner and agreed they were very good. My daughter could not stop raving about her Salmon Bowl. The coconut rice lived up to her expectations and brought everything together. We were finishing up our food and were ready to close out the bill. The problem was our server was nowhere to be found. We waited and waited, I eventually had to wave down another server to find her and let her know we were ready for the bill. We still waited and waited and then I had to go inside and wave her down myself to let her know we wanted a couple togo boxes and the check. This place was a solid 4 to 4.5 before all the trouble chasing down our server. Even though service fell off at the end of our visit, Patricia was nice when she was around and my daughter was still raving about that bowl hours later. She ate the whole thing. She thought she was gonna have enough to pack it up, but while waiting for our server she kept picking at it and next thing we knew it was all gone. Overall a mixed bag but more good than bad and I would return when in the area. 3.5 Rating
