It's Waffle House. They had more people visiting than they could support and the cooks and staff got in arguments over who's supporting which team and loudly arguing with each other over orders. The sole waitress tried her best to keep up and she was kind and helped my son and the food was exactly what you want from Waffle House. I really did enjoy the public argument. Waffle House has become an iconic presence on the culinary landscape here in the southeastern United States. It seems that their familiar logo beckons in all of its bright yellow neon glory road-weary travelers, partying college kids, parents with kids in tow, hungry workers seeking a casual and quick sit-down meal and just about everyone else from every walk of life. Since Waffle House opened its first location back on September 5, 1955 in Avondale Estates, Georgia, it quickly established itself by offering a consistent selection of food and by being open twenty-four hours a day. At this particular location, the service was friendly and professional. The property was well-maintained and only added to my overall experience. For me, the biggest appeal of Waffle House has always been their hash browns, which you can get basic or topped with a variety of toppings such as chili, white sausage gravy, cheese, ham, onions and so many more items and you can combine these toppings in a multitude of ways. For my main course, I have usually gone with their patty melts or one of their egg breakfast options. I myself can see the strangeness that I have never had a waffle in a business where waffle is in their very name, but I prefer a more savory breakfast than a sweet one. If you are in the southeast United States, odds are you have probably passed a Waffle House location. It seems that they are on almost every major highway exit ramp and strategically placed throughout most cities and towns in the southeast. If you see one, give them a try. read more

Nothing like a WH to acquire yourself a quick quality breakfast when you are on the road and pushing to make good time. My total time from entry to exit was 15 minutes in the 6 am hour. I ordered my usual two eggs medium, hash browns scattered with white toast and strawberry jelly topped off with an orange juice. The meal was perfect just like every WH I go to and what you would want and expect. Only con was several tables needed to be cleared and/or wiped down. However I was greeted per the WH custom and they were in the process of cleaning. Restroom was clean. read more

Since the original, vibrant, and welcoming crew left, it has changed. Now if you go in you're barely welcomed by the crew that is there, except maybe the manager when he comes out from back. Ordered a meal at counter, ask for to go box, then bag. Was given the box, but the to go bag was just thrown on counter and server just walked away. When you acknowledge your customer's, give them friendly service, and have some enjoyment, people will come. Take all that away, you will go somewhere else. Sad to know that old crew is gone. Will be missed. I don't live far from there, but I will go out of my way to another Waffle House. So long st. Augustine Waffle House. read more

It's great when the Waffle House crew gets it. This was a good visit and they were all over it this morning. No litter in the parking lot and while the restaurant was busy at 7am on Sunday morning, there were no dirty dishes on tables and the cook was not far behind on orders. I was immediately greeted when I sat down and was brought my coffee within one minute. This is a good start. I ordered the Fiesta Omelet and was asked if I wanted the jalapenos in it. I did and it was called out quickly. Sitting at the high counter in the center, I could see everything the cook was doing to prepare my meal and it was done properly. I had walked in at 7:16 am. My omelet was made fresh and in front of me at 7:23 am. It can't really get better than that. A ding because they were out of the Waffle House salsa but that's more on Waffle House corporate and the world supply chain than this particular restaurant. My waiter (shift manager?) was sincerely apologetic and offered 57 sauce (ick!) or ketchup (carbs!) so I went without. He also refilled my coffee twice. What a well manage location! My son-in-law came to pick up some breakfast for the family and take back home so we grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered three meals to go and we're taking care of nearly immediately. I've actually never seen a kitchen run so clean and neat and very little screaming and yelling like you typically hear. We ordered a mix of waffles scrambled eggs fried eggs lots of hashbrowns everything came out perfect as usual. We've all been to Waffle House , we know the food is good but kudos to this location for pulling it all together for a great meal fantastic service from a great team. Highly recommend!!! read more

This Waffle House was like most of the others, so we knew what type of food and service to expect when we entered here. The service here was quick and friendly and the food came to us hot and fast. The portion size was large and the food was all cooked and tasted as it should. It was a nice pit stop to cure that craving we had for a greasy spoon type of eatery. Well, you've seen the picture, so you know what is my usual; but, first some background. I had read about Waffle House the other day, because one of the founders had passed away, so in honor of that, my partner and I stopped in for dinner. I don't go to Waffle House enough to be a regular; but, I know what i like, a Waffle Topped and Smothered (Waffle with Ben's Chili and Onions.). I usually get a bad reaction; but, if they can put toppings on hash browns, why not a waffle. Every Waffle House I've been in has done it. The wait staff at this location were warm, friendly, quick with refills on coffee and lemonade. They cook staff were proud of what they put out; my excellent waffle "concoction" and my partner's exceptional omelette. Parking here was more than adequate, width easy access from the highway (I-75) down the main road. It is near gas and other conveniences for the road traveler. The only letdown, was the floor in the bathroom was sticky from being mopped with a cleaning solution; but, not rinse-mopped with clean water. That's a pet peeve of mine, from when I worked cleaning the restrooms in what was then Buccaneer Stadium, in Tampa. read more

I was hesitant coming in here with all the "not so good" reviews. Well, let me tell ya folks..there must have been a change in the whole staff here. Christopher, an employee, opened the door for us as we walked up and greeted us. Very friendly guy. We sat down in a booth immediately and was served immediately. The waitress was very nice and quick. The manager, denise was fun with the jukebox. Haha, What a great and fun experience so far!!! Wendy is a fun and enthusiastic and wore a fun and festive hat for the 4th of July...Cherron was our server....such a joy. Food came out fast and hot, as always. The manager, denise, was also cooking. The whole restaurant was singing "Family Tradition" by Hank Jr. Haha soooo fun!! What a great breakfast!!!! read more

I have a dream that anyone of any race, gender, or creed can receive Waffle House food within 10-15 minutes. But unfortunately today whilst on a road trip I stopped at this very Waffle House and did not receive food for 45 minutes. At this point I was forced to take my order to go and rush out of the door as I was on a schedule. My party and I also witnessed at least 3 or 4 other parties get seated after us, but receive their food before our order had been taken. Why was this? Well, amidst the chaos behind the counter one can hear the waitstaff holler about who is down some number of waffles. For 45 minutes I heard people say "Wendy's down 4 waffles", yet no one decided to give the waffles to Wendy's guests. As a result several other guests received their food before my party and I. This system is incredibly dysfunctional. Instead of a fair and timely procedure of distributing waffles in the order they were ordered, the waitstaff is forced into a battle royale style of first come first serve with no regards to the guests or the chronological order of the orders. I propose that a system that even the most basic minds can comprehend. Simply place the yellow order slips on some wire in the order that people ordered. Naturally some orders will be placed within seconds of others, so while this system is not flawless it provides an astronomical improvement of the aforementioned abhorrent system. read more

Had to send back my plate twice and my friend's plate was wrong but she let it go, on top of that she had an eggshell in her eggs. Sat inside the restarting for 20 mins and never received any service. On the way out of the door they sarcastically said "thank you for coming". Ended up going to the one on Baytree instead and glad-fully so. Received service immediately and Kid Rock was playing when I walked in. Go to the one on Baytree instead it's much cleaner and offers an overall better dining experience. read more

I usually enjoy eating at Waffle Houses but this one was a disappointment. Service was slow & cook was slow. Coffee tasted stale & the syrup was flavorless. Oh & of all things it was discovered that the waffle machines were on the fritz as mine & another patron's waffles had mushy uncooked batter in the center. They did, however remove the cost of the waffle. I won't be stopping at this Waffle House again. read more
