The people who give Waffle House less than 4-5 stars just don't know what they are doing. Haha! Waffle House just HITS every time. It's cheap, it's greasy and it's filling. You either NEED this type of food really late at night or super early in the morning. And if you don't get a waffle every single time, why would you come? I almost always get the All Star Breakfast, IYKYK. It's the quintessential Waffle House go to. Today I got a bowl with sausage, eggs, and grits with jalapeno, mushrooms, cheese and onions. That's advanced Waffle House for the uninitiated. The pecan waffle (essential!) was dessert and it was delicious. GET THE PECANS. If you are from up North, pecans are southern and the pecan is OURS! Waffle House is SOUTHERN and I will pit it against any diner serving this kind of food in the country. I happen to love the Waffle House near me. It's a perfect distance in case of emergency. Today the place was a well oiled machine. I recommend coming when it's packed and on the weekends. That seems to be the time when it's at its best. This place is clean enough and well lit on the latest of evenings. Don't get me wrong, the freaks are here when it's late late but during the day, it's great for the family! We sat down at a semi clean table and waited for 10 minutes. It wasn't that busy as there were at least 5 empty tables. The staff was relatively young. As we waited, ungreeted, we heard the table next to call their server and then overheard then point out a hair in their covered hash browns. Every time I come to Georgia, friends and/or family wants to take me to some trendy place for breakfast. HELLO! I'm from San Diego. The land of trendy breakfasts and breakfast chains luring you in with the latest diet craze specialty items and sugary toppings for those who need them yet. I just want Mamma's "Eat this and gone out to school now" food. Made quick and with stick to your belly goodness. I walk in and seat myself and my mamma, if she were a small framed white lady, walks to my table and asks, "What do you wanna eat Honey?" I knew right then I was gonna leave a fat tip. I asked for time to look at the menu because I didn't know. I normally ask the server but the place was starting to fill up and I didn't wanna make her mad. What? I've seen the YouTube videos. When ready I ordered what you see in the photo. Two Egg Breakfast with Hash Browns and your choice of sausage or bacon. I asked for scrambled eggs and to substitute the hash browns for grits and she said, "Sure Honey. Would you like cheese in those eggs?" DING! DING! DING! DING! I almost cried. "Yes Ma'am." I said almost whimpering. Everything and I mean everything was well seasoned. The grits were already salted. I only needed to add pepper. The eggs were already seasoned and just cheesy enough. Too much cheese doesn't work. I'm on keto so I didn't eat the bread and even the grits were a stretch but I was gonna have some grits dammit. You know how hard it is to find grits in San Diego eateries? Only a few in the East County desert and mountains and they're never seasoned. $10. All this for $10. By all this I mean..... Being called Honey with a southern drawl.... Made to feel like I was catered to... Made it feel like I was special..... Unbelievably delicious simple, easy, perfectly cooked food. Yeah. Our fav inexpensive date is Sun am bfast at the Waffle House (92&575 Woodstock). We live on a small fixed income so we split the AllStar, add 1 extra egg, double hash browns Cost is under $10 w/ senior discount & we give generous tip. Like most restaurants food & service is not always 100% ... so I give it 97% because more often than not we leave satisfied. Recently my 1 egg was too cooked, waitress saw it grab the dish back, returned with 2 eggs cooked perfect. That's Customer Service. Staff is what makes our Sun date awesome. When we walk in everyone treats us like family. Place is clean. Only complaint ...having to walk thru smoking crowd to get to the door (husband highly allergic to smoke). Highly recommend this WH. I'm gonna give them a 3 star review! Yes, they are A-OK! I have to say that their hash brown options are are freakin fantastic! Not only the hash browns, but the omelets are some of the fluffiest I have ever eaten! Not to mention the waffles! The issue that most of us have is that they tend to be on the dirty side. Well, my visit today showed me that this location on highway 92 proved the majority wrong. Servers were neat and clean, tables were neat and clean (although a bit wet from the recent wipe down). The down side was the floor was pretty yukky. Also, even though our server was very polite, we did have to ask her to remove napkins, plates, etc. from the table. Here's the sitch, there are not many breakfast choices in this area, and this chick is a HUGE breakfast fan! My daughter and I have been regulars (at irregular hours) for about three years. The staff is usually friendly because we've been coming in long enough to know most of them by name (and they know us as well.) The place is kept clean and has good Health Department scores. Went in for lunch today. Not sure how my order was called to the cook but it came out on four plates!! Server had trouble comprehending what I ordered and kept asking for clarification. I am surprised it came out cooked correctly even though it was not a special order. While waiting for my food I noticed how dirty the area I was sitting in was - they wiped tables off but no one had taken the time to move the condiment racks or napkin holders in a while. I saw oozy sticky stuff under the ketchup and mustard bottles. Should have been my clue to leave. Next time I'll listen. My server walked by my table to server other customers or wiped tables - he ignored my empty glass (multiple servers walked by my empty glass). I finally asked him for a refill on tea. He gave me more tea but didn't add any ice. I was so thirsty I didn't ask him to fix it until the next time I got refills. He actually asked if I wanted more even though I was clearly still eating and my glass was empty. Again he brought more tea with out adding ice. I asked for a cup of ice and he took my drink, poured out some of the tea and added very little ice. He was obviously clueless since he continued to help other customers and cleaned tables while ignoring me. Needless to say he got a very small tip on a $18 tip. Went to dinner last night. Ordered the Texas bacon chicken melt plate with chili on the hash browns. The place was empty. Only other person at the counter was an off duty employee. My sandwich came burnt. Both sides of the toast were not just well done but burnt. I asked to have it fixed. The cook took the top piece of toast off and put on a new piece. Served it to me. Didn't bother to check the other side. The bottom piece was still the same burnt piece I had been served the first time. This time I was so upset I just got up and left. The waitress was new or something and couldn't seem to understand that my sandwich was BURNT...black...overdone...ruined...not edible. The rest of my family finished their meals and brought my food in a to go box. It had finally been made correctly. I just don't get it...this is what you do all day and night. Why would you even consider serving burnt food to a customer. If a piece of bread is BLACK don't even bring it over, I'd rather wait a minute or two than be served something like that. I have never experienced the place being dirty nor staff being rude. That being said I cannot speak to what happens in the evenings. WORST experience EVER. Tried calling for over 30 minutes and no one answered. Went in and proceeded to wait 20 mins to place a to go order. In the 20 mins of waiting NOT ONE PERSON ACKNOWLEDGED ME. No good morning no be with you shortly...NOTHING. A customer walked up to pay and was immediately seen. Audrey asks if I've been helped and I told her no and that I've been calling and waiting a total of one hour. Audrey then said they were busy and with all the people she didn't see me. I pointed out that i had been waiting alone at the register for 20 mins and that I was also the only person of color in there so it was hard not to see me. Audrey proceeded to want to argue back and forth with me, at which point I simply asked for the managers phone number. She pointed to the grill and said he was too busy to speak with me-he turned looked at me then turned away. HANDS DOWN THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE EVER!!!! The 2 male employees (1 cook, 1 server) argued the entire time I was there. Never received my food that I asked Togo because I could take there antics toward one another. Ordered a carryout on Saturday April 25, 2015. Called the order in 20 minutes early and when I arrived the waitress explained that they didn't take call ahead orders because they recieve too many prank callers. This didn't work in their favor, because I decided to wait until my food was prepared and while waiting I notice a roach crawling accross the bar. I'm not a roach expert but I know these are the type of roaches that comes in numbers and hard to get rid of. At this point the complex needs to be destroyed and rebuilt, it's to far gone! The staff is rude and inconsiderate, they were making fun of a diner that was there, a young girl, who heard them and got up and left. 3/25/18. My husband and 2 sons (age 17) walked into this Woodstock Waffle House at 6:15 a.m. for breakfast. As soon as we came in, the waitress yelled to someone on her staff (I couldn't see who) that she would NOT serve our table and that someone else was supposed to come in at 6:30 and could take our table then. There was only 1 other customer in the place and he was sitting at the counter already served. There was another female staff member sitting at another counter counting receipts or doing some kind of work. We sat there another 10 minutes while I listened to the waitress mumble and groan about not serving our table. I assume there was some kind of internal staff argument going on. After 10 minutes of being ignored, we got up and took our business down the road to IHOP where our service was stellar and we tipped the waitress a $20! I will never go to this Waffle House again.
