Not sure what I was expecting at this restaurant. My friend and I came in for brunch one Sunday morning, it was pretty busy but tables were rotating quickly so we got seated relatively fast. Since we had not eaten here before we decided to get a couple different things to share. I ordered the High Flyer Breakfast which is your basic 2 eggs, sausage or bacon, grits and biscuit and Belgian waffle or buttermilk pancake. The "creamy dreamy grits" were more like cream of wheat and even more bland. The "fluffy biscuit" was slightly softer than a hockey puck, definitely not fluffy and sure wasn't flying. The sage sausage I'm not sure where the sage part came in unless they mixed the sausage with a sagebrush that was blowing in from the desert, it was gritty and burned. I got the Belgian waffle which was cold and hard. I used my knife to scratch the butter across the top and doused it in their "syrup" which tasted like pure sugar reduced in water and coloring added. The eggs were supposed to be over medium...they were under done. My friend had the mini bowl which she enjoyed and we shared some French toast which was very good. I'm thinking maybe it was a bad day, it's really hard to mess up a basic breakfast so I will return, but the service was slow and sporadic, coffee was cold and we had to wait for refills just to get warm coffee. We got immediate service and they were waiting on us hand and foot basically. They did a really good job and making sure that we knew that they were there. The food was solid as well. They weren't very busy and it was pretty steady and I went on a Thursday morning. I tried out a couple different things one of the items was a monthly special that they had, the blueberry crunch pancakes. The pancakes were huge, and they had a blueberry compote with a granola on top as well, and the pancakes were made from oatmeal. I didn't think I was gonna like them, but I really did enjoy those pancakes. I also got the Piedmont omelette. My go to breakfast item is always an omelette and this one was really good. Wish it was a bit a little cheesier but all in all pretty good. I also got the shrimp and grits. The shrimp to grits proportion was off a little bit to me. I understand that you're not going to get a whole other shrimp, but I wish I would've been a little bit something more with it. Like if they had it a little more of the sauce on top or maybe like some bell pepper onions. And me saying all this is not saying that the shrimp and grits were not good. They were delicious. Just wanted a little bit more to the dish. I have the pancake tacos with the start of the show for me. I was not expecting them to be so large, I was able to have, of course lots of leftovers and ate the tacos over the course of a couple days. It's gone down over the years. The personality of the waitress was dry, but her was polite. The Belgium Waffle is still a favorite... but we came for the biscuits and grits! Both of which were subpar at best. Some of our grits were soupy, others were clumpy-- all were unseasoned. The biscuits were hard and dry. My BFF from high school and I decided to come here for Sunday brunch to meet another close friend of ours from high school. I had not been to Flying Biscuit Cafe since I lived in Atlanta many years ago, so was looking forward to trying it again after such a long absence. The ambiance is very unique and colorful just like I remembered the café many years ago. The designs and paintings on the walls have their own character and unique style that brings warmth to the café. The service was wonderful and delightful. The hostess and the server were very professional and friendly. They took very good care of us, and made sure we had everything for our meals. The food was absolutely delicious! I ordered the Hollywood Scramble with a side of fresh fruit. The Hollywood Scramble is an egg White omelette with spinach, mushrooms, and red onions topped with a tomato au joulis sauce and served with grits. The grits were amazing as I had remembered them to be from my last experience. The omelette was cooked perfectly and the fresh fruit was very fresh. A local favorite - they're in Kennesaw now since 2019. This location sits in a strip mall like the others throughout Atlanta. It's on the end/corner with space for outdoor seating. Today was an unusually chilly morning so patio seating wasn't an option so we waited for first available. That turned out to be 30 minutes. The layout of this location is odd - it's like an L shape with a small counter/bar at the bottom of the L and tables on the long end. The door is right at the front nearest the bar and you can look straight into the kitchen. This is where there's a shelf for takeout, mobile orders, Doordash, etc. It was rather distracting as delivery people stood there, over diners waiting for their orders. There was little rhyme or reason - just search for your order ticket. We swore someone's order was taken as we overheard - the kitchen had no record & once it leaves that shelf well...at one point there were like 5 ppl just bunched up waiting by this shelf. Food: Always top tier. Biscuits, jam, coffee and your favorite breakfast items. Service: Underwhelming. The servers are young, students maybe. Just running back & forth from kitchen. Not a lot of time to be personable. The hostess was great, everyone else was meh. Atmosphere: The layout needs help. Maybe move digital orders to the corner behind the hostess? This location is located in Kennesaw in an awkward shopping center. You have to drive past the restaurant, go behind the restaurant, and cut through the Senior Living Housing parking to get to it. There is parking but can be limited depending on business of surrounding businesses. We had a wait which was expected. Employees wore masks. There was hand sanitizer available. Employees were friendly. We were given a buzzer so we could wait in our car as outside waiting was limited. This was a busy Saturday. Everyone ordered either the Waffle Breakfast or FL Sunshine breakfast. They ran out of chicken sage sausage patties. We opted for turkey bacon instead. The bacon was overcooked on all orders. My son's Waffle never came. We ended up getting it to go instead. Thankful didn't take long to prepare. She removed from the tab since it was forgotten. The Latte was good. I wanted to add sugar but delay in us getting silverware. It came out right before our food. We got our drinks quily so my Latte was cold. Again, they were busy. I ordered take out from here on 5/10/24. When I went back in to pick up my food I noticed dead roaches by the hostess station and the front door. I let the waitress at the front know I wanted to cancel my order. I informed them that they had roaches at the entry way and that's not a good look for a restaurant. They refunded me my money with no issue but did not apologize or say they were going to take care of the bug issue. I had stopped going here due to the quality of food declining.
