We went for breakfast on a Thursday morning. The place wasn't busy at all and we were seated right away in one of their booths. The hostess/server asked us if we wanted anything to drink and I asked for water and coffee. I was surprised that she came out with a carafe of coffee!! All for me!! I guess it saves them time from going around the room refilling eveyones cup. We took a little time to look over their extensive breakfast offerings. They do offer senior items but it didn't say what age qualifies as 'senior'. Maybe 55? 60? Not sure. I ordered a pancake and my daughter ordered a vegetarian omelette with hash browns. We just decided to share our food. The omelette was packed with onions, mushrooms, bell peppers and cheese and was very good. The hash browns were crispy, just the way I like it. The meal also came with your choice of toast, biscuit or sourdough and my daughter chose the sourdough. She said it tasted old so she didn't take a second bite of it. The pancake was yummy. Really no complaints about it. The exterior and interior of the restaurant lives up to its name. The building is a big red barn. The interior is all wood and I think they only have booths. Oh wow! What can I say! I got the chicken fried chicken and it was def chicken fried!!! Plus they gave me a whole damn chicken!!! The breast, thigh, leg and wing!!!! I couldn't eat it all! I even got a delicious tomato basil soup beforehand that I gobbled down! I wish I had seconds!!!! The mashed potato's were on point too! I really enjoyed my meal. It also came with a pie! This was my husband and I's third time visiting this place and first time for our friends who we brought along to breakfast. Overall, it's a great breakfast spot with lots to choose from and really good food, it's just hit or miss with some of the menu items in terms of portion and quality. Wait time is always going to be a bit unless you get there early (however, they have their wonderful bakery case at the front so you can stare at their gigantic cinnamon rolls while you wait haha). The staff have been pretty friendly and pleasant to interact with. Their coffee is alright, just your average diner coffee that's not exactly the greatest but helps wake you up just enough. I will say I was a little more on the cautious side with this last visit just because the one before their creamy was expired; thankfully, I discovered this as I was pouring them into my coffee and didn't ingest it. The food was good, The Squatch was something I wanted to try this time around and I appreciated the portion size and flavor. My husband and his brother ordered the Wagon Wheel which they also really enjoyed. Our friend got the Country Mish Mash which looked rather lacking in portion size (he seemed a little disappointed when comparing the amount to the price), but otherwise he said it was good. The friend I mentioned received a Burnt - Liver & Onions meal? They've always gotten some parts of my orders wrong, but correct it soon. We got two Shirley Temples. Our family went to the Homestead for Easter yesterday. Most of us ordered breakfast items and they were all cooked perfectly and tasted really good. The only thing that wasn't perfect was the burger. The patty was thin and the bun was a little soggy, but it still tasted good. We will definitely be coming back for more breakfast items. The mozzarella sticks were also really good. Kudos to the chefs/cooks yesterday! I will say I wasn't impressed with the cinnamon roll. It actually tasted microwaved. I would skip those calories and save the money on that item. read more

Homestead is located in Lakewood and situated in a homestyle barn-like structure that is convenient to the road When you first walk in, there is a counter of desserts and pies that looks fabulous. We bought cinnamon rolls to take home and they were tasty. We had a very sweet waitress and ordered homestyle comfort food that was quite good and reasonably priced. My chicken pot pie was flavorful and too large to finish. The decor is also very cute. It almost looks like you're in barn stalls. See photo. The outside of this restaurant is shabby, so everytime I drove past it, I thought yuck. But when we finally stopped by for breakfast, it was a nice surprise. It's very down home. Think Cracker Barrel, but without the shopping. When you come inside they have church pews in the lobby in case you have to wait. We didn't and were seated quickly. I was tempted to buy the can bread, but breakfast was so filling that we'll try it next time. I liked the little ipad type tablets showing pictures of some of the menu items and the music was great. The food? Meh. It was okay. No one ordered anything that made us want to come back, and the service wasn't friendly, but it wasn't off-putting either. After I got home saw on the receipt that they already charged 20% gratuity for having a party of 5 or more! My 2 year old that shared off my plate counted for a party of 5! Waitress didn't even tell us. So I tipped 20% on an already 20% total tab (my fault for not reading the receipt I know) went back and saw a tiny ass sign way above eye level about it. SO had a French Dip and Jo Jo's and was really pleased with the in house made hoagie and the dipping sauce. The service was excellent and the food served hot.
