    Chicken fried steak and waffles
    Thornton A.

Some down home Americana, i had the chicken fried steak and waffles it was pretty good, though the Nashville hot gravy fell short, it wasn't very spicy. I will have to go back and try something else someday. This place is kitschy with all the old American iconic down home stuff. The staff are friendly and my food came super quick. I will try them out again

Oh wow! What can I say! I got the chicken fried chicken and it was def chicken fried!!! Plus they gave me a whole damn chicken!!! The breast, thigh, leg and wing!!!! I couldn't eat it all! I even got a delicious tomato basil soup beforehand that I gobbled down! I wish I had seconds!!!! The mashed potato's were on point too! I really enjoyed my meal. It also came with a pie! I really was hoping for an apple pie but because of Thanksgiving they are out of a lot of pies so I got chocolate creme. It was alright. Service was ok. The restaurant is pretty nice and you feel like you are secluded enough in your area. Highly recommend the tomato basil soup!!!

2 orders of the Wagon Wheel, 1 Country Mish Mash and 1 The Squatch

This was my husband and I's third time visiting this place and first time for our friends who we brought along to breakfast. Overall, it's a great breakfast spot with lots to choose from and really good food, it's just hit or miss with some of the menu items in terms of portion and quality. Wait time is always going to be a bit unless you get there early (however, they have their wonderful bakery case at the front so you can stare at their gigantic cinnamon rolls while you wait haha). The staff have been pretty friendly and pleasant to interact with. Their coffee is alright, just your average diner coffee that's not exactly the greatest but helps wake you up just enough. I will say I was a little more on the cautious side with this last visit just because the one before their creamy was expired; thankfully, I discovered this as I was pouring them into my coffee and didn't ingest it. The food was good, The Squatch was something I wanted to try this time around and I appreciated the portion size and flavor. My husband and his brother ordered the Wagon Wheel which they also really enjoyed. Our friend got the Country Mish Mash which looked rather lacking in portion size (he seemed a little disappointed when comparing the amount to the price), but otherwise he said it was good. This place is great to return to if you stick with the items you're already familiar with and know will be good. I'm certain we'll return again in the future!

    Taco Omelette

Not familiar with the area, decided to take a look at Yelp and see what's around. Saw this place and looked like it was going to provide a good ole fashion breakfast. Service was friendly and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Ordered the Taco Omelette and though it looked small, it was very filling. Each night had the perfect amount of ingredients.

We visited on a weekend when they were busy but we still got seated quickly. I ordered a ham and cheese omelette. That thing came out piping hot! I mean this in the best way because eggs cool down so fast. Why only 4 stars? I didn't get my toast until I was halfway done eating and it was lukewarm bread that tasted off. It was not remotely toasted and was completely white. But again it was "toast" so I was very pleased that the main parts of my meal was hot and delicious.

Came in for breakfast before our flight back home. There was a little bit of a wait but there's lots of seating in the waiting area. Server kept it short and sweet but no complaints, everyone came out fast & everything was delicious. This place has a rustic vibe to it & they serve breakfast lunch and dinner all day. We will definitely be back next time we're in town!

    Liver & Onions

My friend ordered the Liver & Onions while I got Medium Rare New York Steak. They did not properly cook mine on their first try. (Well done steak) However, our lovely server took it back and we heard their discussion about that in the kitchen later. It was absolutely delicious once done right. The friend I mentioned received a Burnt - Liver & Onions meal? They've always gotten some parts of my orders wrong, but correct it soon. We got two Shirley Temples. Those ended up with absolutely no carbonation and tasted horrible the second round. That was also fixed eventually. Their ambiance has a very rustic feel to it. It's a nice refresher.

Cute decor. Temping menu. Great old blues playing.

Homestead is located in Lakewood and situated in a homestyle barn-like structure that is convenient to the road When you first walk in, there is a counter of desserts and pies that looks fabulous. We bought cinnamon rolls to take home and they were tasty. We had a very sweet waitress and ordered homestyle comfort food that was quite good and reasonably priced. My chicken pot pie was flavorful and too large to finish. The decor is also very cute. It almost looks like you're in barn stalls. See photo. It's almost like this place was the inspiration for the interior decor of Cracker Barrel except that this place is real and not Corporate. I'd like to come back and have breakfast here sometime. The menu looks quite interesting.

Was in the area getting my car serviced and stumbled across this cute red barn restaurant. They have various options whether you want breakfast lunch or dinner. I got the chicken fried steak with eggs and hash browns and this was hands down one of the best version ive had! The customer service was absolutely amazing as well!!

Prices went up and portion size went down
    Yasmin M.

What happened? They bought fancy plates, upped prices, and decreased portion size. They created a fake wait and started seating ppl once they lobby looked full. When we got seated, there were so many open booths! 2 stars because our waitress was nice and food tasted good. But I won't be going back anytime soon.

Yup dropped off our truck for an oil change and came here for breaky. Of course we devoured the cinnamon roll. Had to cut it in half so we each didn't have to complain of not getting that lat bite lol!! Our waitress is awesome ( gotta get her name). Carafe of coffee & iced tea... woo hoo. Drinks when we want it.. YES please. I had the eggs your way which has no meat. I wanted poached Yumm. Hubby wanted corned beef hash. It was canned ( prob industrial size can) but good. Ambiance was great. Same busy busy Sat morning. Love this place. And it's been around forever. So glad old owner family took it back over!! Win win.

Are they open for dining yet and if so are they doing anything special for Easter?

Yes they are open with limited seating. I'm sure they will have Easter goodies. Best dinners from the crispy chicken to my favorite turkey dinner. With free slice of pie with dinner meal.

Does anyone finish those cinnamon rolls? They looked HUGE!

Usually takes 2 people, but I have seen some big boys kill it.. haha

Bowl of Chorizo, home fries, egg over medium, cheddar cheese, sausage gravy. It really hit the spot. I went with the biscuit on the side instead of toast. Again, glad I did. Flakey and buttery. Next day I came back for lunch. Had the BLTA on sourdough with a side of fries and a Bloody Mary. The sandwich had perfectly portioned bacon and produce ratio. Silly metric, I know but a sandwich with too much tomato or mayo or avocado can spoil the meal with a mess. Fries were great too. Had a bit of an onion ting taste to it which wasn't unpleasant at all. Bloody Mary was mid. Came with skewer of jack cheese, olive, pepper round chunk, pickled asparagus, and celery.

I literally ate everything on my plate. Then we came back on a Saturday early evening. And the food tasted old. I noticed when I was checking my receipts on Saturday. The guy has said oh you don't have to tip because you're a huge party. When a party of six your tip is automatically included which is the 18%. and I was like oh wow we had six on Tuesday and I left a $25 cash tip. And he said although waiter should've told you it's automatically taken out and the 18% was already taken care of. And I was like no I handed the waitress $25 cash and she never said 18% was taken out and I didn't pay attention to my receipt cause I had children with me but then when I looked back in my car on Saturday night from Tuesday, I realize that she double charged me. So on Tuesday she got over a $50 tip. The waitress on Tuesday she was a Hispanic lady with dark black hair. She robbed me. So please be aware you're going with the party of six or more. They automatically take out 18% gratuity. And I did not like that because she should've told me that you don't have to leave cash. She knew my kids were crying and I was trying to yo leave and not distract the other guest. But on the positive note, the place is nicely decorated. And service is good. I just felt robbed, so for that fact I will never ever be coming back. If you were looking to try this place for the first time come early if you want hot fresh food. If you come later in the evening, the food does taste old.

My last review was honest but a 1star- now they could have ignored it, denied it or even got rude about it- after all others have (see aspen house) But no, they reached out and asked to open up dialogue- they asked what could be done and they APOLOGIZED- ownership and accountability! The communication was on point and the definitely made good on everything! So we set out to give it another go- and seriously- I may have a new place to hang out! As a non drinker your average joint has water juice or soda- not here The selection of non alcoholic beers and the DELICIOUS MOCKTAILS!!!! A place that doesn't get upset when you order a fancy non alcoholic drink- and you get the feel of being a part of it all not just sippin a soda! Loooved ! Personally hooked on the sweet n tangy- (Sweet & Tangy DHOS Orange, lemon & lime juice, simple, & raspberry puree ) ---delicious! My partner tried a couple non alcoholic beers he didn't even know existed- excellent variety to make everyone feel a part of the crowd!! And if you love a good drink?? They only carry high end liquor and make their drinks definitely top notch! The kind of place that values quality!!! While keeping the prices competitive and honest! Now the food- BRIE- ohhhh the Brie dishes!!! Not many places create food art- creative delicious classic combos with a unique twist! Absolutely the place to check out and try a new dish! Unique items that I'm dying to go back for!!! One definitely to try-- "Apple Brie Grilled Cheese Apple chutney with caramelized onions, granny smith apple slices, brie & cheddar cheese, melted between parmesan crusted 3 Hearts Bread" yummmmmmm The best part though- the people- friendly outgoing crew that you can tell genuinely care about each other and also care about making sure that the people stopping by have a wonderful experience!!! If you're in the area or live near there- check them out- definitely the kinda place to stop in on the regular and make it a thing!!!! Can be smidge hard to find due to construction that should end soon but worth the hunt!!! A total Gem!! Good quality food, excellent service, and a 10/10 place to stop in! After what I believe to have been 2 years of saying that, that day has finally come. First, parking near the restaurant was limited, however finding parking in the residential area was fine. We found parking about 2 minutes away from the restaurant. As we came with my best friend, who, by the way, was the reason why I finally stepped foot here, wait time wasn't long as she came about 5 minutes earlier than I. We came for brunch and it was busy but the wait was not bad at all. The both of us ordered the same items on the menu from both the drinks, the main and dessert - a sangria, Shakshuka with lamb, and beignets. We also brought our daughters with us. They ordered a cheeseburger with a side of caesar salad and a mac n cheese dish from the kids menu. Our orders were delicious, although I was expecting the shakshuka dish to be heftier. For the price - $17. xx with an additional $4 to add lamb - it was a little disappointing, to be honest, especially since it was lacking in the lamb department. I was still hungry but thankfully I had my 4 year old's leftover cheeseburger and salad to fill me right up. As for the beignets, it was good. I don't have anything to compare it to since I don't know what an actual beignet tastes like. Would I return? Sure.

Finally got a chance to try it at noon today, and it was a great experience! Environment: The overall vibe is very American. There were TVs on the walls constantly playing various ball games, like today's playoff game between the Thunder and the Lakers. It was pretty busy on the weekend, especially the outdoor seating area, which was almost full. The building is an old structure dating back to the 1900s. Though it shows its age, it's very clean both inside and out--you can tell the owner really cares. Service: Our waitress was very, very friendly and professional. She gave us great recommendations, always served with a smile, checked in on us during the meal, and refilled our water. Very satisfied! Taste: Pizza: There's a funny little story: supposedly, Marco Polo went to China and saw pies, but didn't know how to wrap the filling inside, so he just put it on top--and thus the pizza was born. Personally, I think this is a myth, or many people have started fantasizing about Marco Polo because they think he was too great. But according to various unearthed historical records in China, Marco Polo never actually went to China. In fact, around 2010, more than 20 scholars organized an event called "Retracing Marco Polo's Route." After completing the journey and comparing it to what Marco Polo himself recorded, most of them concluded that he probably never made it to China. Sorry, I have a strong urge to share--went off on a long tangent about Marco Polo. But the pizza was really delicious. It should be truly fire‑baked, not oven‑baked. The sauce was well‑balanced, and the toppings were generous and fresh. My wife and I ate more than half of it! Salad: The dressing and cheese were very generously applied, and the greens were fresh. Chicken wings: They had a pleasant sweet‑savory taste, just right. Unlike most American restaurants where they're too salty or too sweet, these were perfectly balanced. All the dipping sauces were good. Overall, highly recommended!
