Ordered the rise and shine burger. Bun had large mold ring on top of it, about the size of a nickel...green and fuzzy. Ruined the appetite of me and other members of my party. The waitress was nice about it and took it away and offered something else but again, appetite was ruined at that point. The food here is always terrific. Huge portions, delicious and made with care. The coffee is amazing, It's my go-to morning spot almost every day. Never had an error on any order. Staff is, with one or two exceptions, very attentive and friendly. Highly recommend breakfast burrito, chicken fried steak, any of the huge skillets. Hollandaise on the eggs benedict could be brighter with more acid or lemon juice. read more

No sign anywhere in the restaurant and a fee for credit card use. Used my debit card to pay for breakfast and saw a fee on the receipt. I proceeded to the front of the store and no signs were up front nor was I notified by the server of the fee. Dishonest and extra charges should be brought to the consumers attention prior to ordering. read more

Nice place - great food. How long has this been here? However don't get the pork chops and eggs breakfast as it's so good and such a large portion you'll be sleeping in the couch later in the day and totally unproductive. Clean, yummy, and modern! My boyfriend and I stopped here as a brunch spot before our movie started and we are so happy to have found this place. Food: We ordered the peanut butter and chocolate waffle and country fried steak. Both were delicious! The gravy on the steak was unique and different from the diner norms. The waffle is SO light, it has a nice crisp and is very airy. Also used their delicious butter generously, I couldn't get enough! Ordered carry out. Told it would be 15-20 minutes. Arrived at 20 minute mark. Told it would be another minute. After 10 more minutes and still no food, they finally realized my order was never entered. When I asked the hostess why she told me originally it would be only one minute, when the order didn't even exist, she admitted she didn't actually look she just assumed. Very weak apologies. This was my first time coming to Waffles Kafé. We were greeted immediately. Very welcoming environment. Food was incredible and very tasty. Pancakes are just big and perfect fluff, and i actually ate them all for once! I never finish my pancakes anywhere else. Steak skillet was everything you would want. I would suggest getting jalapeños if you like a nice kick of spice. The baja benedict was the best eggs benedict i've ever had. the chorizo was seasoned well. Hashbrowns were cooked nicely too. I will never give this place my business again. I eat here all the time and I get the same skillet every time I come and have never had an issue until I came on Mother's Day and then today. I get the veggie skillet and it's always been cooked perfectly, however the last 2 times I came the vegetables were completely raw when the skillet came out. On Mother's Day they fixed it and it was great. Today, however, I told our server the vegetables were barely cooked and she said they'd fix it. She brings it back, and the entire thing is burnt. Including the eggs. I asked for new eggs at first not realizing that everything under the cheese was black and hard. The eggs she brought out were still burnt, but had egg yolk running out of them. The replacements the brought me looked disgusting. I asked them to just make me the skillet the right way to go since my family was now done eating at this point, and the manager tells me no. I have to take that skillet because that's how I asked for it. I said I asked them to cook it a little more because the veggies were raw and then I asked for my eggs to not be burnt and you brought me burnt and undercooked food and now I can't have a skillet to go so I can still eat? She refused and I made her take it off the bill and then she charged me full price for the pancakes that came with the skillet that I gave to my son. Worst customer service. I've never experienced anything like this at this place and it's disgusting how they treat people when they mess up. read more

Let's start with the food seemed fresh and I thought the service was very attentive. The problem was the cup of vanilla latte - IT MADE ME SICK. I thought it tasted "different@ while I was drinking it and I stopped after 1/2 a cup. Nonetheless, I started getting nauseous sitting in the booth finishing my breakfast. And I kept the sick feeling for 1 1/2 days thereafter. I called the restaurant and left a message for the manager that something is wrong with either the mix, milk or latte machine and that he should stop serving them until it gets checked out. While I asked for a call back I never received one. I'm not sure what else to say, my stomach cringes every time I think of that breakfast. Not good. :(. read more

A pleasant surprise! We've gone out to breakfast a couple of times in the past two months and have found in the two "breakfast" restaurants we've gone to have dropped in quality. Waffles Kate had both excellent service and food. Our server was attentive and speedy. The skillets were loaded with veggies and proteins. My husband's skillet had an overly generous 4 eggs over easy on top. My dtr said her skillet was delicious. My Denver omelette was very good. Pancakes were tender and delish, not tough and rubbery as with our last breakfast spot. The portions are so large I said I need to order from a children's menu. The acoustics were great with no overwhelming resonance. Very clean. Breakfast was always my favorite meal to have out. I was really ready to give up until Waffles Kafe. Where do I start. Food is not of good quality, cheap breakfast ham you can tell its not off the bone. It's processed deli ham. Double yolk eggs not there is no such thing. They just use small pigeon eggs instead of xl or jumbo eggs. Those pigeon eggs barely have any yolk in them. It's typical Les Brothers style cheap ingredients dressed up a little bit more. Food, service, and ambiance are all amazing. It's been our family favorite place to go for breakfast. And though we love the food and ambiance, the one thing that messes it up is the bathroom. I don't know about the men's bathroom, but the woman's smells disgusting like sewage all the time. I know we are there to eat, but sometimes you have to use the restroom in the middle of a meal or even to wash up beforehand. It just doesn't make me wanna eat if I have to go in there because the smell is so bad. I usually try not to use the bathroom if I can help it. Please fix this issue or put some essential oil diffusers in there to dissipate the smell. Using regular air freshener makes it worse. Other than that - it's a great establishment! read more

Ok first things first, COFFEE! Not brown brewed water, but real coffee, it smells like it should, and it actually tastes like COFFEE. Now the rest. I found this establishment because I was hungry and I'm on a bus trip and need a place to park the big yellow beast. (Walmart behind restaurant). It's open and airy inside, clean and bright. The staff very friendly and accommodating. Did I mention the coffee? I ordered pancakes and sausage The menu has quite a variety, but I have to get back to my bus. Cakes were very good, massive in size, light and fluffy. (I ordered a full stack, next time short stack) They have warm syrup. The sausage was moist and had good flavor. All in all the best breakfast and COFFEE, I have been able to post about in a long time. So many places have changed and cut corners. It's very refreshing to find a local stop that is keeping a high standard. I don't review food places often......came here a short while ago, ordered my little ones some kid meals, I got the dublin's skillet. Hostesses were kind.....my main biggest issue was hearing (what sounded like) the boss from the kitchen yelling at all of his staff!...we sat close to the kitchen doors and could hear commotion when they opened and closed for a short time.....not a good look at all in my opinion. Super good food, serving sizes were fairly large for a breakfast place, which was great. They had an assortment of different teas as well as seasonal kinds which is unique compared to places nearby. Been here a few times and it's always been non relevant. Just another breakfast place. However, today upon entry we were greeted by the lovely aroma of sewage smells. Hostess' were very friendly and seated us right away. Server was friendly but not very good at her job. She was clunky in her execution. Never brought enough water glasses. Didn't bring butter for the pancakes. Then when asked brought honey butter. Food was all over cooked. Eggs are from a carton and they are pulling back the good stuff. Example...had 6 mushroom pieces in my omelette. I understand the reviews are good bc the place is priced on the cheaper side and after living in new Lenox for 8 years I know that is what residents here desire. If you like good food stay away from this place. And waffles...fix your plumbing. We couldn't use the bathroom bc of the smell. read more
