Awful experience. Still can't believe the experience we had here, and that Dr Wagner took no action at all to even respond. That speaks volumes about the lack of professionalism here and how they don't take client care as seriously as they should. I'm not the only one pointing out the lack of professionalism by the coordinators at this facility. It should be made known and the team should do something about it. I was reminded today about the terrible experience when experiencing EXACTLY the opposite experience from a similar business, where we had to call and say that someone had tested positive for covid and that we were exposed. I received not only a rescheduling and a thank you, but a CALL BACK from the team saying they appreciated me caring for their health, and not just my own. This is the exact opposite of the Wagner team, who cared more about a $65 deposit than employee health. I was so terribly disappointed after a first call where I was reassured and excited about signing my family up for dentistry with an experienced team that cares. I had appointments set up and everything was looking wonderful, and in a way I was really looking forward to it. Woke up morning of the appt and I had gotten sick, and thought ethically it didn't make sense to continue with the appointment because I could get the staff sick, so I called promptly in the morning and cancelled and was told if I wanted to reschedule I would have to pay a $65 fee for less than 24hrs and that it was non-negotiable. Totally get it. When trying to state the case for being caring for the team's health and hoping that the fee could be wrapped into the next appt or any options at all considering we were new patients the front desk person stopped me from talking, by talking over me saying "I'm not going to waste your time here. It's a non-negotiable fee". Even though I was disappointed with the outcome and understood the rule, even though I thought it made total sense to not get staff sick. I tried to reschedule the missed appt but at that point the clerk told me they would not reschedule me. They told me they would call me back after 5-10 minutes after thinking about if I was a good fit, called me back and refused to schedule us, and unscheduled my daughter's appointment, stating that we should find care elsewhere. I asked the clerks name and they said "I don't think I'm gonna give that to you". They could have had clients for years, but they lost it over a $65 policy, lack of patience, and professionalism. Patience, kindness, listening and extra care even though there is a "policy" could go a long way. The coordinators are to blame for terrible conduct. For someone who struggles with dental anxiety this is a shocking experience, to say the least, and I'm still blown away that it happened. read more

Good staff. Just be careful with your insurance details. The scheduling department is not looking out for your best interests. They will schedule you for visits beyond what is covered by your insurance. And if you have any billing issues... Worst customer service I've ever experienced at a medical (dental) facility. I had my first visit to Wagner Dental today, and after two pretty miserable trips to previous dentists in Portland, I can say I've found my regular dentist. I was told I needed a crown. I asked for my cost estimate, after insurance. The amount seemed high, but I paid it and had the crown applied. Then I received a huge bill (hundreds of dolars) afterwards. When I called to discuss, they said they only guess at amounts and that I owe them the extra money. If I'd known the full amount upfront, I'd have shopped around or postponed. Now I'm stuck with a giant surprise bill and zero empathy or apology from Wagner Dental. I feel deceived and taken. I'm going elsewhere for future care. Bad customer service and misleading communication. read more

Dr Waggs is one of the nicest and most generous people I've ever met. People don't always see what happens behind the scenes, but let me tell you these guys care so deeply about people, and they have put so much back into the community and to their patients. **UPDATE**...took the x-rays for my youngest daughter to another dentist for a second opinion. They recommended two fillings and they want to "keep an eye" on two other areas! MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THE 14 FILLINGS DR WAGNER WANTED MY MINOR CHILD TO SCHEDULE IMMEDIATELY WITHOUT CONSULTING HER PARENTS FIRST!! Only one explanation...GREED! My Daughters (17 and 22) recently went to see Dr Wagner for the first time. They had been seeing my family dentist since they were toddlers and my entire family had used the same dentist since the 1970's. No cavities for either girl to date. No pain, no issues. Now miraculously, after a little over a year since their last dental visit, Dr Wagner says they have 22 cavities between the two of them! Wanted to schedule multiple sessions for fillings. This defies logic and reason, and I suspect this is 100% insurance fraud. No changes in health, eating habits, or brushing frequency for either girl. ALWAYS GET A SECOND OPINION! Dentists are in SALES! Dentists are not regulated and can charge whatever they want. I will follow up and report back here with diagnosis from other dentists. read more

On two occasions I was told I had 11 cavities I urgently needed to fill and would cost me several thousand dollars. I got a second opinion from another dentist in Portland who informed me I had only one potential problem area and that we will watchfully wait to see if it progresses. No other pressing concerns. Five years ago I landed in the hospital for three days following a botched wisdom tooth extraction. I hadn't been particularly nervous about dentists prior to that, but after? well, let's just say that four multi-state moves since then have provided me with MORE than reasonable excuses not to get to a dentist. I know, gross, but there it is. And you know how it is... the longer you go, the worse it gets. "crap, it's been so long. what will they find? I bet I've got like broken stuff and recessed gums and will need oral surgery and it'll probably cause some kind of weird blood disease and I'll die like within a year... crap. Hey, isn't it happy hour?" Two recommendations from coworkers (coupled with the great location) finally pushed me to call Dr. Wagner and his fabulous team. Stammering apologies from the first, I held my breath and waited for the bad news: "You need to floss more." "uh, I'm sorry, what? don't we need to schedule some kind of appointment to do something radical and painful? y'know, kind of like my penance for putting this off for so long?" (pause) "well um... you really should floss more. It's important you know." Dr. Wagner and his staff are terrific. They offer free cookies as you leave which frankly is pretty strange, (or is it maniacally genius?) but a great experience all around. read more

Dr. Brady and assistant Rachel have such an attention to detail and care for understanding my needs at every visit. They are also very understanding and comforting when I am nervous about a procedure. Dr. Wagner's entire staff is professional and warm - I recommend them to anyone. A word of advice for new comers, be aware that google maps has this location incorrect in its system and will direct you to across the street at Fire on the Mountain wings place. From my consultation and teeth impressions to check ups and adjustments Dr. Wagner and his team are professional, helpful, and knowledgeable. I could not recommend seeing Dr. Wagner for whatever it is you need help with. The office is clean and very pleasant with coffee, tea, cookies, and some nice chapstick. Fantastic, friendly, expert family dental care. I was referred to Dr Wagner by a friend after relocating to Portland, and I am glad I was. From setting the appointment to check in, through the cleaning and even the fresh baked cookies upon checkout that they were offering that day, (honestly ...and that part was particularly awesome) everything was top-notch. Sally did a great job with with cleaning, very thorough, and avoided a lot of the aggressive scraping with the manual tool that I was accustomed to with other dentists. She uses an ultrasonic and water tool that gets the teeth even cleaner than the old way alone. My favorite part of the cleaning was being able to catch up on the news while I was getting my teeth cleaned! You have a flat screen mounted right next to the overhead light that I became so accustomed to stating at during dental visits When Dr Wagner came in, he used some pretty slick imaging technology to identify some areas in my molars that didn't hurt yet, but I could see easily that if I didn't start flossing soon, I would be in for a world of hurt. He's a fantastic young guy who is up on all of the latest and greatest in diagnostic and advanced dental care. Icing on the cake was that they took my insurance, which is so appreciated. Dr Wagner is an outstanding dentist! He has really gone above and beyond for me on more than one occasion. When I had a painful issue with a filling he insisted on squeezing me in and taking care of it before I left the country. He came up with a solution that completely eliminated the pain and saved our vacation! When I started seeing Dr Wagner I had spaces between several back teeth that were left from other dentists that didn't take care to properly size crowns and fillings. It made eating most things very uncomfortable and I was constantly flossing. It was such a treat when he fixed them for me! I had forgotten what it was like to eat a meal without running for the flossers. Dr Wagner and everyone I've met in the office are all very friendly and caring and I love that I can zone out and catch up on TV during procedures. My wife and I have been patients of Dr. Wagner and his team for around 10 years. They do a fabulous job on everything from "cleaning to crowns." We are older and we have both had to have extensive work done especially dental crowns that were put in decades ago and eventually needed replacement. The professional quality of the work is outstanding. The pricing is fair, and the customer service/ interpersonal experience is great- they are truly nice people. Dr. Bobby, as my four kids call him, is a super star. Back when my twins were going to their first dentist appointment, I was a nervous first time mom and made an appointment with a dentist who does JUST pediatric dentistry. I didn't love her, so we thought we'd try Dr. Wagner since my husband and I both already went to him. Best decision we made. The staff, from receptionists to hygienists to Dr. Wagner himself are awesome. They make my kids so comfortable that they don't mind going to the dentist!
