The food was great. My parents and I stopped for dinner on our drive from S. Carolina back to Michigan. Loud sports, but food and service was great! I ordered chicken nachos, my mom ordered a chicken sandwich with wag's chips and my dad ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Large portions and everything had a lot of flavor! Stopped by this establishment by pure coincidence and absolutely love it! Nice size local diner with full bar. The prices are excellent. My premium drink was $5.50 for a Honey Tennessee and Coke. There are a lot of great little dives in Chillicothe where you can get a good meal, and Wagner's may be the best of all of them. A trip to Wag's is becoming a weekly ritual for my husband and me. Neither of us has yet to try anything here that we don't like. The pulled pork, which is smoked on site, is my favorite. Also, if you appreciate a creamy Cole slaw that's on the sweeter side, this is the place for you. Plenty of seating is available for lunch and the tiny bar is usually occupied by at least a few colorful locals. I recently ran into the vice president of my senior-year high school class. I hadn't seen him since graduation day in the 1980s! So far, all of our visits have been during the day, but we are planning to try Karaoke Night soon! We're also looking forward to warmer weather so we can sit on the patio and take in some live music. read more

Was passing thru coming home from buying a truck in West Alexandria headed back to NC. We'd been up for 30 hours at this point and starving and this was on our GPS. I thought it was a steakhouse, then when we pulled up I thought it was a country diner, then I realized it was a straight up bar in the middle of nowhere! We walked in and it felt like a scene from a movie where the music stops and everyone knows you're not from around there. Couple of guys sitting down eating would not even acknowledge me when I said hello and have a nod, some ladies at the bar were the same. Pretty typical of Ohio people, certainly the most unfriendly state I've ever been to. Anyway, the bar tender must have been 11 months pregnant, and she was doing it all! Bar tending, taking orders, cooking the food and cleaning up. All by herself. She was so nice to us, she did a fantastic job and the food was fantastic. The locals were dickheads but this employee made up for it and I would stop here again if I ever have to pass thru the dreadful state of Ohio again. read more

We almost drove by the place thinking they were closed. We were pretty close to 4:00 so the crowds hadn't started yet. So glad we stopped! We had pretzel bites with beer cheese for an appetizer and they were absolutely fantastic! My husband got the special tenderloin sandwich and fries and I got the club sandwich and onion rings. The best part of a road trip is all the podunk little towns you can hit on your way. We stopped in here via a Yelp search. Only 4 reviews, the newest one over a year, but when a place gets 4.5 stars, I'm down! Wagner's Roadhouse does not disappoint. Unbeknownst to us, we got in 10 minutes before the kitchen closed. The bartender/server/hostess with the mostest greeted us warmly, made a little chitchat, gave us our menus and recommended the Roadhouse Burger and the Pulled Pork sandwich and the chicken wings "Hell, everything is awesome!" and brought our drinks right quick. We went for the burger and the pulled pork. They were both outstanding and the coleslaw was the best I've ever had. The service is great, the food is great, the ambiance very much what you'd expect from a roadhouse frequented by locals. No one looked at us sideways so that's a plus! The next road trip we take will definitely make this place a stop. read more

Ever since the new people took it over this year (2014) not only does it look a million times better but the good is absolutely amazing! They really know what they're doing with their food. Ate lunch here a few days ago. Restaurant was pretty empty. I was greeted as soon as I walked in. Server was friendly and was attentive for the majority of my dining experience. I found it a lite odd that my burger and tots came out before my appetizer of wings. Burger was good and hot. Tots were also cooked nicely and served hot. Spicy BBQ wings were not very spicy in my opinion but they were huge so I had to take some home with me. They do warm up well as the waitress had noted.
