Interesting, eclectic, fun, and good food! This place is a 'find' in the literal food desert among the scrub brush in Needles, right at the California-Arizona border. The place has been around awhile and very down to earth and unpretentious. I especially appreciated that there were several local folks eating here, so it's not just a tourist stop off the highway. The menu is quite extensive, and I chose the pot roast melt for a late lunch. I got it with a side of potato salad. The sandwich was tasty, fresh, and well prepared. They didn't skimp on anything, and the bread, toasted, was perfect to hold it all together. The potato salad tasted homemade and was exceptional. Overall, it was an excellent meal. I had an iced with it, and it came in an oversized tumbler. The wait staff was very friendly and professional and on top of everything. I was amazed at how well organized they were with it seeming effortless. Plus, they seemed to enjoy their jobs. You may not be staying in the area, but I highly recommend this place for a meal if you're passing through... you might not find better for a couple hundred miles, either direction! read more

Overall the ambiance was really neat and service was good as well. If you like sweet barbecue sauce, then you would love the meatloaf skillet. For us however, the sauce was just way too sweet for us. A fun place to stop in for breakfast, which is served all day. Omlette was was good and the special--pecan pancakes--was really good. It's an old timey place, so be prepared for that. Was busy on a Sunday, but the staff were attentive and the food came quickly. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is the water tasted "funny" like a filter needed to be replaced. The coffee tasted that way too. Be prepared to pay $50 for the breakfast for two, as that seems to be the way it is all over the country and this place is no exception. Great place for anytime food. It's right off the freeway between CA and AZ. Food was delicious and they give large portion. Serving time was quick for even large group of people. My steak and eggs was very nice but the steak was cooked medium rare instead of medium well I ordered. They also served the wrong side but they corrected it immediately after I requested. If you're passing through Needles, this is the place to stop and eat. The restaurant is very rustic with antics and Route 66 memorabilia. The service average. They were very busy so our drinks weren't refilled as quickly or as often as we'd like. I ordered the cornbeef hash with eggs, hash brown, and biscuits with gravy. The meal was super enjoyable! The gravy for the biscuits was very savory, my main critique was that I wish the biscuits were softer. It seemed that the outside of the biscuits had hardened. This little "dive" restaurant is popping. The pot roast is excellent along with their cheddar biscuits. The staff is extremely friendly and the ambiance is rustic. The rest of my family got salads and they said they were excellent. The place is known for their breakfast with hand cut steaks on the chicken fried steak and steak and eggs are the staff recommendation. The breading on the chicken fried chicken is perfect - not too hard or soft. It has a very good flavor. It surprisingly reminds me of Southern Kentucky chicken fried chicken - that's how good it was! The green beans that same with the chicken were cooked well. They are cooked with grilled onions, so it gave the green beans a nice flavor. The baked potato was baked just right. Stopped here on a recent trip while passing through Needles and I'm glad I did! I love these old Route 66 landmarks and this place had gotten good reviews so I decided to give it a try. Visited 10/26/2022 A nice Historic Eating establishment in a small town. Renowned by the locals to be the Best Restaurant in Needles. Lots of homemade food to choose from on the menu. We tried a Patty Melt sadly not great but ok. Had almost no onions so not what a Patty Melt is all about but the ground beef was very tasty. The French Fries we're Excellent. I had the homemade meatloaf dinner. A large serving but I've had better. All the same it's worth a stop if in the area and a nice place to grab a bite. read more

Horrible customer service. Passing by the town on our family trip, we stopped by for lunch. Waitress didn't acknowledge us none of the employees greeted us. We were standing for a good minute. Waitress passed by but did not bother seating us down. We were actually greeted by customers there and seated by them. We sat down pregnant waitress finally approaches us and her demeanor was way off, just the everything about her customer service gave us an uncomfortable feeling. We ordered drinks this place made us feel very unwelcome. We didn't want to stay any longer we left and paid 15 dollars for drinks we didn't even touch. Absolutely the worst pork chop of our lives. The waitress was very nice and smiled a lot. When I complain she smiled and said she was down a cook. Is that my problem. I was considering it for breakfast but after this terrible experience I would go for McDonald's instead. You can fill up at McDonalds for 5 bucks and this place is $20.00. That's crazy.
