    Hot pot

We go there for hotpot experience, especially for their halal menu which is limited. It always a good idea to let them know hike reserving the table that you will be going for the halal menu, and when you're there, the servers will help you pick what all you can eat. I love their "all you can eat" and the servers keep coming to check on you when you need more. They also help you pick which soups you can enjoy that has seafood or vegetarian broth on it if you're going for halal. The ambiance is perfect, with such a nice interior. Highly recommended for all my halal peeps out there who would enjoy all the meat!

This is an appreciation post for their happy hour! The deals are such a steal for the Chicago area! Love their $7 for a beer + a shot! If you're not big on beer/liquor, they also have the prettiest and tastiest mocktails! Friendly staff. The bar area is a great, casual place, and they have TVs for sport watching!

My cousin treated us to an all-you-can-eat yakiniku dinner, and all three of us chose the Silver Wagyu set which you have to order the same in the table. To start, we ordered the fried gyoza, tempura shrimp, and seared salmon nigiri, which were all great choices. The quality of the meats really stood out--everything was tender, flavorful, and cooked beautifully on the grill. The bone marrow was a favorite at our table and definitely a must-order. We wrapped up the meal with ice cream, which was the perfect sweet ending. The service was friendly, attentive, and efficient throughout our visit. The restaurant itself is spacious with plenty of seating, making it a comfortable spot for groups or special occasions.

The futuristic, sheer black interior with tall walls feels upscale and immediately impressive when you walk in. We came here for my husband's birthday, and it did not disappoint! This all-you-can-eat concept offers two options: wagyu hot pot or wagyu grill. We chose the hot pot (shabu shabu), which felt like the better fit for a slower, cozy meal. You build your own sauce at the sauce bar and can grab your own vegetables, while meats and appetizers are brought to the table. There are several tiers of membership-style pricing. We opted for the Diamond tier and were able to try a wide range of items beyond just wagyu. The sweet shrimp in particular was exceptional, and the wagyu tartare was also a standout. For broth, we went with the golden chicken base, which was rich without being overpowering. In addition to wagyu and vegetables, you can also order a seafood platter or individual seafood items. We tried the scallops and abalone, and both were were fresh and delicious. Vegetables include mushrooms, napa cabbage, bok choy, tofu, and other fresh selections that you can self-select at the bar. Service was excellent! The server was fast, attentive, and consistently checked in without being intrusive. No complaints there. The meal ended with ice cream delivered to the table (chocolate, strawberry, or vanilla), and there is also a self-serve fruit station with watermelon and pineapple. The chocolate ice cream is TO DIE FOR!!! A little background on this place~ Wagyu House is part of the Chubby Cattle group, a modern hot pot and wagyu dining concept known for immersive dining experiences and premium meats. Overall, this was another solid Chubby Cattle concept restaurant that delivers on both food and experience.

Surprisingly good takeout. We tried: - Chicken Karaage - Shabu-Shabu Szechuan Spicy - Shabu-Shabu Sukiyaki I will say different apps have different menus, so you may see something ordered on one that doesn't appear on the other. Either way, the food arrived warm, flavorful, and you could taste the quality. I will order again!

First time coming to Wagyu House! I was definitely impressed on their extensive halal options! Everything was so flavorful, however I will say service was not the best. Our server hardly came to the table which made it difficult to order anything the second or third time. We received wrong items 3 times than what we ordered and the restaurant wasn't even that busy. Overall I would come back for the food and the ambiance but customer service especially for paying that much could have been better.

Beautiful restaurant with very modern decor that feels grand and full of flair. Our server was fantastic and checked on us regularly and gave great recommendations on what to order. We opted for the shabu-shabu only and went with the Diamond Set, which comes with unlimited specialty dishes like sweet shrimp, wagyu tartare, and bone marrow. The appetizers alone were a huge highlight for me. I got several plates of the bone marrow and sweet shrimp, which would have run up a huge tab at most other restaurants, but here were included in the set. The wagyu cuts were phenomenal - rich, tender, and perfectly marbled. I went with the golden chicken broth, which had amazing depth of flavor and paired perfectly with the vegetables and meat. Would definitely come back although I'll probably go for the yakiniku next time since i've already had the shabu experience.

Been here a few times for both shabu and bbq, and truthfully never been too impressed. For shabu, the spicy Sichuan Wagyu broth is pretty decent and flavorful, the golden chicken broth was a little bland. I'd say the spicy sichuan is more flavorful than Happy Lamb's, but the golden chicken here is not similar to happy lamb's golden cabbage broth whatsoever so don't get that idea!! The meat seems like good quality but the veggies and other sides are very limited compared to other hot pot places. No fish balls, pumpkin, watercress, etc.. it's nice to have nigiri and everything but for the price, I think I'd go to happy lamb instead for shabu/hot pot. Great quality of meat for bbq, no complaints. I love the handrolls and sushi! Although some items are not quite as flavorful as other places, like the corn cheese. The ice cream is great though lol I'd give the food 4 stars but the service is usually veryyy slow. Even if the restaurant is empty, there's always a wait to be seated lol. Ordered a soda refill, finally got it after following up a third time. Meats come out slow and you end up getting full waiting for it. The restaurant itself is very clean and on the fancier side, the ambiance is nice. But not my go-to for bbq or shabu/hot pot, I really want to like this place but I think there are better options for the price you pay.

Excellent service from Eric! We sat at the bar for happy hour and we loved our experience. Such a great happy hour! 3 appetizers for $15 and then a choice of 3 sushi items for $25. Happy hour is Monday thru Thursday 6-8pm. Friday 5-7pm. Delicious food and cocktails. Crispy fries, and excellent nigiri. Tasty gyoza, and crunchy fried spring rolls. We also tried the wagyu nigiri off the regular menu and wow!!! Phenomenal!!!! Gorgeous restaurant!!! So cool, modern, sleek, and inviting. I definitely want to return for a hot pot dinner. I'll definitely be a regular at happy hour too.

I want to reiterate other comments I've seen. We've been here a handful of times and even got membership but I must say and both my husband and I feel that the time you REORDER the Jap A5 Wagyu? They no longer give you Japanese version. The taste is different. Like you are being given lower tier meat since there's no way for customers to really differentiate but believe me the taste is different. And even the meats look different! There's an after taste. I've tasted it before my husband said the same thing the next time we went which gave me the reason to write this. I've cancelled My membership because of this. Membership are automatic by the way. I had to email 3x to get my money back. I'd never go back. 3 stars for the servers and other food we ate.

If you ever find yourself unable to decide what to eat, Wagyu House is the perfect solution. Having sushi, hot pot, and barbecue all in one spot makes it ideal for groups or anyone who wants a little bit of everything. Service was extremely attentive and fast. Plates were cleared quickly and drinks were always refilled. The atmosphere is lively and great for a night out. The food was good but not quite at the level of a restaurant that focuses only on sushi or hot pot. Still, the variety, quality of the meats, and overall experience make this place worth visiting.

    Mia M.

Good service, staff is great and knowledgeable on their Wagyu and how to prep you for cooking it. They don't rush you and they check on you often. I love that you get unlimited meat for a great price. To me, it's a bargain here. I tried both silver hotpot and gold barbecue and both were great but I prefer barbecue. I absolutely LOVE Wagyu so I was excited to see the A5 and Wagyu from not just Japan but also Australia. I felt like I was getting pretty decent meat for the States considering every time I come back from Europe or Africa the meat here tastes like rubber to me. Kudos to good quality meat. Only main downside is the fact that you can't make reservations for barbecue and it can be a long wait. You can wait at the bar and have a drink but it's easy to go over the 2 hour parking limit (for free parking) in the garage when waiting on barbecue, so try to go during the week versus weekends so you can take advantage of some of the happy hour specials and less crowded days/nights if you're into the discount thing. Seniors get 15% discount. Chubby Club for discount is worth it IF you plan on returning, but it also even pays for itself really. I'll be back.

In Chicago for vacation was was craving meat Service was really efficient! We came with only 1 hour left of food call and I promise you we had way too much to eat (they have a 90 min time limit). We chose silver just because of the time limit and we have 0 regrets. Everything was fresh and seasoned well (not drenched in sauce) The grill was great charocoal We also got their wagyu bimbimbap which was pretty good not too filling and their spicy miso soup for end of meal. OKAY BUT ALSO THE WAGYU CURRY WAS SOO GOOD Also don't sleep on the bone marrow!! Ambiance: clean. I wish there was a little bit better ventilation though! Only thing I wished they had were bonchons! They had kimchi and an app and sauce bar though!

Yes, everyone at the table needs to choose the same package.

No this place is not Halal

    Are reservations required?

Not required but i would recommend

    Is this good for kids?

for sure, the table next to us had a brought 5 kids between the age of 5-10, running around, screaming, I would say the establishment is very kids friendly. Don't be intimidated by the upscale appeal, the actual experience is quite similar to…

it's the same throughout the week, $68 per person with limited options or $88 per person without limitations. water and drinks are separate charge

Are there lamb and chicken options too? And which soup bases of yours don't have any beef used in preparation?

Hi Simran, thanks for your question! We do have lamb and chicken options, and these soup bases do not use beef in preparation: earthy mushroom pot, tomato vegan, and sukiyaki. The chicken soup base does not use beef, but it does come with pork. Here…

Is the bar open for walk-ins?

Yes, but highly recommend a reservation as this place is very popular and high demand right now.

If you order the dancing noodles you get a little show!

    Good for kids?

When I find myself thinking of a return trip while still there, you know for sure Offset BBQ delivers! I ordered the All Beef Platter, and got the Brisket Chili (upgrade) as my side. The sausage was fantastic! It had a snap which made all the Chicago Hot Dogs within a 20 mile radius jealous. Inside was a maximally savory, salty but not over-salted filling. The kind of meat that needs no sauce. Then comes the brisket! A lovely piece of meat that was so tender, looking at it and licking my lips caused the meat to start falling apart. I also loved that it was a good balance of meaty and fatty bits. However, there is a small 'but' here. For my taste, the brisket needed a very light sprinkle of salt. No matter, with the help of the sauces the brisket leveled up enough to take on any boss battle thrown at it. Speaking of sauces: The KC Style and Hawaiian were both good. Both were sweet, and had some tang, though, it seemed the KC had a slight edge in the bold department between the two. A sauce I loved though was the Chicago White, a fantastic Horseradish and Mustard sauce that was unique, interesting, savory, fresh, and a little spicy. The kind of sauce I want to buy a container of and take home! For my side, I upgraded to the bowl of brisket chili. I loved this so much, I may just order this as a main on a return visit. The chili did not at all skimp on the meat, which was tender and flavorful. The use of beans, corn, and veggies were there to help accent everything else, and were themselves cooked perfectly. Kudos also for the inclusion of a couple pickled jalapeno slices. My heat tolerance may be too high to feel a burn, but the crispness of acid did wonders! The included coleslaw was one thing I did not love. I appreciated that they were not heavy handed on the mayo, and the dressing overall was light in quantity and consistency. However, the cabbage was sliced as if by a sleep deprived stagiaire who has yet to master knife skills. The slicing was terribly inconsistent, with some pieces being way too large. For dessert, I ordered the Blueberry Handpie. This was so much better than expected! The crust was flaky and wonderful, and the filling had plentiful sweet blueberries. This dish also excelled in its execution. The cast iron pan kept the pie warm, and the ice cream was such that didn't melt right away. I also loved that the blueberries weren't screaming hot and exploding with lava. When it comes to the service, the bar-server was fantastic. She was kind, friendly, and attentive. Food came out pretty fast, too, considering how fresh everything was. Finally, while I did not make laps around the entire establishment, the vibe has just the right intersection between BBQ and Rock & Roll, with the music playing at the perfect volume to be appreciated while being not at all intrusive. Final verdict: There are many who sing the praises of Smoque BBQ, which is a great spot. However, between the two, I prefer Offset. Other than a sloppy-chopped Coleslaw, the experience was fantastic not only in the food, but in the execution and the thought put into the experience.

We got the pork katsu, shrimp, and fried chicken plates. The katsu was very crispy and paired well with a nice tangy sauce. The shrimp was banging and paired so well with the lemon and rice. And lastly, the fried chicken (chicken karaage) was so crispy and juicy but had such good flavor to it. The rice and mac paired so well with the proteins too. The service was nice; they have a kiosk where you order all your food and then a robot brings your food to the table. The ambiance had a nice Hawaiian decor to it and was full of color. Additionally, there's a decent amount of seating if you want to eat there. I'd definitely come back again and give this place a try.

We grabbed a menu as we had some time to review their offerings before the last person in our group arrived. When it was time to order, we went for variety and got Kaleb, garlic chicken / lemongrass pork and the Hawaiian breakfast. We ordered enough to receive 2 spam musubis. Everyone was happy with their food and compared it to another well known Hawaiian place in the city - but here with better prices! We had plenty leftover for our party of 3 and pretty much could fill up 1 container! We will definitely be back and look forward to trying other items!

The pork was juicy and the KC style bbq sauce was good (other options were Chicago, Memphis, Carolina(?)). The mac and cheese was really tasty, I found myself scraping the bowl for more. It had a really nice crust on top. The service was quick and friendly.

I am pleased to report that Blackwood BBQ is somewhere between "good" and "very good". It won't knock your socks off, but it is nowhere close to "bad." It's perfect for what it is, that being: a spot for a bite during the lunch hour. On both visits, I ordered the two meat platter, with brisket and sausage. Both were flavorful and savory, with the brisket being balanced in terms of meaty vs fatty (as requested). Now, that said, the prices at Blackwood are on the high side. On the one hand, I know the price of a pound of ground beef is greater than the minimum wage (as of this writing). However, I also can't help but feel the punch to the wallet when two meats and one side, where one of those is brisket, and a soda comes to somewhere between $20-25 (I think it's close to $25, but don't want to misspeak). Half a pound of meat is not a lot, making the wallet punch even worse. Then there comes the service. Most of the folks working here are professional and welcome. There is this one person, though, whose level of gruffness seems a bit high. It wasn't so much a lack of pleasantries for the sake of efficiency as it was annoyance that customers exist? Final verdict: If you're working in the loop, and craving BBQ, Blackwood is a rock-solid spot, but the high prices mean it likely isn't practical for a regular spot. If it's a weekend, there are better options out there.

There are a couple of ways to order. There is a kiosk or a QR code to order and pay or if you are using the "InKind" app you will order from the counter. Once ordered there is table delivery. The counter staff was very helpful. There is a large comfortable indoor seating area and also outside seating both with views of the North Branch of the Chicago River. Tips I recommend the In Kind app and so does Soul & Smoke. If you're in a group share to experience the various offerings.

This women-led restaurant in Chicago is renowned for its mouthwatering barbecue, brisket, and soul food sides, making it the ideal spot for a meal on Juneteenth. Once I realized it was the closest to me and offered a plant-based option, I knew exactly where I wanted to order from. I ended up ordering the smokey joe sandwich (vegan sloppy joe sandwich), with a side of mac + cheese, and a sprecher soda. Whether I'm using Grubhub or Uber Eats, I love ordering online because it's so convenient. I also want to praise my delivery driver for arriving at a reasonable time with my order and meeting me right in front of my residence. Grateful to have had a smooth online ordering experience because the likelihood of me ordering online again is very high. As for my order, my first response after my first bite of the vegan sloppy joe was, "Mmm, that is good!" If you are a foodie like me, then you know what the next few minutes--or, better yet, seconds--consisted of. Yes, I pretty much devoured that vegan sloppy joe, leaving nothing behind but what was left on my fingertips. The last time I had a vegan sloppy Joe was a few years ago in celebration of my birthday, and trust me, it wasn't as good as this one at Soul & Smoke. It could easily be confused with real meat if you aren't aware that it is vegan. I saved the side order for last, which was that delicious-looking mac and cheese. Mmm... "Oh my God!" was my initial response after my first forkful, which was lightly seasoned with a delightful taste. I must say it was the perfect side for the vegan sloppy joe. After my last bites, I had the slightest grin on my face, and the only thing on my mind was that I will definitely have it again in the future. The sprecher soda - cherry cola was the perfect complement to my meal. Introduced to me by Soul & Smoke, I am so pleased with this award-winning craft soda from Milwaukee's oldest craft brewery that I will be on the lookout for it in the future. I would gladly order from Soul & Smoke Avondale again, whether online or whenever I am in the area. With that, I am happy to share my endorsement of it with you all here on Yelp. Everyone is always smiling, very knowledgeable of the menu and the "Master Bartenders" make the best cocktails. They are extremely knowledgeable of their extensive bourbon collection. Up until four years ago, I used to visit at least five or six times every single year. Last night was my first time back since then, and I was deeply disappointed by how much the standards have slipped. The entire evening felt incredibly rushed. The person taking our order seemed to be in a massive hurry, acting short and dismissive with us. To make matters worse, an automatic gratuity was added to the bill. While I understand this is becoming a common industry practice, a gratuity should ultimately be an option based on service. The server did mention at the end that we could have it removed if we wanted to, but customers shouldn't be forced into that awkward position in the first place. Unfortunately, the quality of the food has also gone downhill. I always used to order the ribs and frequently took extra food home because it was so good. Last night, the food left a lot to be desired. The barbecue simply isn't what it once was. When my uncle graduated in the 90s we went to your previous downtown location. He loved the restaurant as well; the food, the exceptional service, and the warm atmosphere. I went there year after year. While I respect that they have managed to stay in business for 30 years, there were just too many issues with both the service and the food for me to return.
