    New CHIPOTLE SALAD
    Christian Vincent M.

The best thing about the place is the service. The food is okay but it's good and quick when you need something simple and consistent. I've been coming to this location now and then for about 10 years. The lady does offer me like 6 things I don't want when I try and order lol, I'm like nah I just want this.

Another great meal! Awesome fish tacos, super chill decor and a great staff. I hope the manager appreciates his crew because they're awesome.

Chicken taco Plate 1988 super tasty!

Fantastic fish & chicken tacos. Had the lunch special that comes with chips & drink so a terrific value! Excellent service from Minerva. Great music playing in the background for a nice relaxing atmosphere. Conveniently located in the mall. Highly recommend Wahoos Fish tacos for fresh & delicious food!

I had high hopes after hearing great things about this place, but it didn't quite live up to the hype for me. It's a casual, order-at-the-counter setup, which is fine, but the seafood didn't taste particularly fresh--my shrimp had a noticeably fishy flavor. On the plus side, the portions are generous, so if you're hungry, you won't leave disappointed. Just not sure I'd go back.

2 Taco Meal Special with Crispy Fish Tacos 1988 Style

We got a quick lunch here before shopping. I ordered the 2 Taco Meal Special with chips, salsa and a drink included. I got the Crispy Fish Tacos 1988 Style, which basically meant with chopped cabbage, green sauce and pico de gallo. It was pretty crowded, even in the late afternoon and we were lucky to find a seat. It wasn't too long of a wait for our food and service was good overall. The cashier was super friendly and helpful. The salsa bar is located near the exit, which I and other customers did not notice at first. I was able to get some extra salsa before we got our food. My fish tacos were just ok. I liked the pico de gallo and green salsa as well as my chips and salsa. The fish itself was mushy on the inside and did not taste fresh. The other ingredients however, like the salsa, rice, beans, cabbage and corn tortilla all seemed fresh. My boyfriend got the crispy fish burrito, which he devoured and enjoyed. Overall this place was ok, I was just disappointed in the actual fish. Maybe I should of gotten the grilled instead of fried.

Great vibes & food! Super fresh & nice employees. The taquitos are always good. The shrimp is good as well but I recommend the fish :)

I was surprised to see a Wahoo's inside of the South Coast mall as there are so many pricey restaurants surrounding it. There is an inside dining area which extends to seating in the mall area as well. It is tucked in a corner so there isn't much shopping traffic in the area so you can take a break from all the people to grab a quick bite. The menu is very reasonably priced and portions are what you would expect. I ordered the crispy fish taco. I liked the citrus slaw and the cilantro sauce but the fish reminded me of a frozen fish stick from those kids meals served in a cafeteria. I also liked the salsa/sauce bar so should've ordered some chips to take advantage of that! I believe the value is good for the price ($5 per taco) especially in a mall like the South Coast plaza so if you're looking for a quick bite, this will do. But personally, I think the fish tacos at California fish grill are better and slightly cheaper.

Why are they so chintzy with sauce. They made me pay for sauce when I ask for it last time so this time I preordered it. $1.15 for this tiny cup! I went back and complained so they gave me more but come on! This place was EMPTY at lunch time. No wonder. I didn't even get a fork. Smh.

The new chipotle salad with carne asada?!?!

I've been a regular for 15-years. The service, food quality and food taste have suddenly taken a deep dive. As one of my family's very favorite fast food restaurants, I don't lightly share that this was my last visit. The Togo order was unacceptable. Tried the chipotle salad. Wahoos is one of the few that I try anything new because it's at least good. It was awful: they didn't pack the dressing, there was a few tiny pieces of meet. It looked completely unappetizing. It tasted worse. Nobody finished their lunch and nobody saved leftovers for later. I had no qualms when the prices went up. But then the quality noticeably shifted far down. So very disappointed Wahoos!

    Kenji C.

Got the Mr Lee's burrito, their Mr Lee's sauce is the umami go to Wahoos for their food. Prices have gone up slightly with inflation since I last visited but the burrito outperforms chipotle with proportion, flavor and balance.

They said we could chill at the bar and use the waitlist for a table (~45 min) and we said sure, that sounds nice, we're not in a rush, and I wanted seafood. There was the option of eating at the bar too, but when I checked OpenTable ~15 min after ordering drinks, it said we were second in line and I didn't want them to have to transfer our order from bar to table so we waited... and waited........ and waited. And waited for almost 2 hrs while multiple tables in the restaurant sat empty basically since the time we sat down at the bar. I didn't ask the hostesses earlier cause I figured maybe they're for a reservation soon but NOPE, never got filled the entire time we waited. Finally when it seemed like the hostesses were becoming bored standing there and the restaurant was emptying out, and I overheard our bartender say the dinner rush is starting soon, I went to go ask if our table was ready. At this point, OT had shown first in line out of 2 total parties for at least 30 min. I kind of expected the hostess to be like, yeah table will be ready in 10 min, sorry for the delay. Instead she looks, and immediately goes, "we're setting it up right now :)", which tells me you guys forgot LOL. We were brought to the back area of the restaurant where legitimately, most of the tables were empty. Why bother with the OpenTable waitlist if you're going to completely disregard it? If you get added to the waitlist, be more proactive than me with inquiring about your table since the waitlist clearly doesn't mean much. Only saving grace was the food was mostly delicious, maybe because I was starving after the 2 hour wait (it was like 3:45pm by this point), and both bartenders were really nice. Spot prawns were amazing, halibut was amazing, bread was good, raw bar pretty fresh (the room temp uni was really weird), clams were good, skip the halibut cheeks, and most important of all, make a reservation.

On top of that the menu changes every couple of months, which for me is nice because every time I come here I experience something a little different. Do keep in mind this particular location I've been here enough now that I notice some patterns. there's going to be a seasonal fish that is featured. There's also going to be some kind of stuffed mushroom which I like because I like mushrooms. They always have scallops which are always cooked to perfection. I often order that added on to the entree. There will be at least one steak dish and a chicken and a pork dish. they always feature on the appetizers the lump crab cake. it is what it sounds like, a large lump of crab that is breaded. To me it's not a true crab cake but rather a lump of fresh crab that's breaded and fried. It's ok if you're in to that. The one dish I was curious enough to try today was their Kona crusted lamb loin. I don't usually order lamb unless it's an Indian or middle eastern restaurant. I like lamb but it's not exactly something I crave. so how they explained it was that the Kona was basically using coffee grounds as a dry rub on the meat. So I got curious and ordered it. The grounds basically add a slightly different texture and adds a slight bitterness. Sort of like char from a grill. It was ok and interesting but what stood out the most was the fact that the meat was so perfectly cooked and so flavorful and tender that it overpowered whatever the grounds added to the meat. so I would recommend this solely on the basis of how perfectly tender and flavorful the meat was.

I walked up to the hostess podium and I was ignored. Then I said that I was checking in for 5:30p reservations and the hostess said " that's gonna be much later than. If reservations were going to be ignored then I would not have bothered making them in a timely matter as I was instructed to do by the organizer of the evening. I basically got the brush off like there was nothing they could do since people were not leaving (including walk-ins) after a 90 min dining limit was posted outside. I was very peeved about this response and said clearly that is not my problem yet I am being penalized. My first encounter with the hostess carried throughout my visit. Our servers name was Linda and she took our drink order as soon as we were seated, however it did seem to take a while for our drinks to arrive. Apologies were made again for the wait but at this point it was clear there was gonna be an issue throughout the meal. I ordered a Caprese salad with brussels sprouts to share family style .When my salad arrived there was no basil. It was just mozzarella and tomatoes, balsamic and olive oil with a dried herb sprinkled on top. When I asked my server if this is how the Caprese is served she said yes. I never had a Caprese with no leaves of basil. Needless to say it's not what I wanted nor expected. My sprouts were dry and overcooked. Linda was truly trying to be accommodating. I could tell she is working very hard to satisfy our group despite the fact the restaurant was packed. Linda was great. We decided to share key lime pie and the warm butter cake w/ ice cream and raspberry sauce. The key lime pie was fine. The warm butter cake was a bit different as it had a hard sugar top. Ice cream with raspberry sauce on the side as well as below. It was too much sauce for my taste. More like a jelly doughnut. My blueberry pomegranate margarita was the best part of my meal. There were so many things that may seem small but were enhanced because I was already upset. The fact the restaurant overly committed and couldn't handle the amount of people was a real issue.
