Today's visit to this location of Wahoo's Fish Taco exceeded my expectations so I must write about it. Firstly, Wahoo's used to be my and my daughter's favorite restaurant (like 15 years back or so.) As we grow older, the test of time comes with waves of changes in our lives. I don't remember when our passion for this casual seafood taco place diminished completely where we simply stopped going. It's as if it fell into oblivion without a trace. Our go to location was the one on I-25 and Hampden. Right, it's no longer there and that could easily be why our stopping to go. This, especially for me, might be an excuse because my work (which I go in for 2 days a month ever since COVID) is only a stone's throw from this location in Highlands Ranch which I can casually walk to with no significant effort. Today happened to be one of those in-office days. I skipped lunch but at around 2:45pm or so, getting me a bowl of protein rich food (all of a sudden) hit me. After browsing where to go for such food, Wahoo's came up in my search. And after browsing more than a handful of photos uploaded on Yelp, some dishes looked so appealing. A little after 3pm, I walked over to it as I was getting quite hungry. Some past diners posted photos of what's called "Paleo Bowl" or something like that. Upon being greeted by one of the workers at the ordering counter (by the way, she was very welcoming!!) I inquired about it to which she said "Oh, it's now called Protein Bowl". Aha! That makes sense. Without any further thought, I wasted no time to order it. For this bowl, you pick two proteins of your choice. I went with fish and tofu. The total after tax was about $17 with sone change. Not bad. Within the next 10 minutes, my food was ready. The same pleasant lady handed me my food and off I went to go back to the office. I didn't immediately eat it. i actually ended up waiting until I got home to eat it. When I finally sat down at my dining table it was a little past 4:40pm. My super late lunch/early dinner finally started. And oh wow, this bowl is no joke about protein. There is absolutely no carbs or whatsoever in it. Besides the two proteins, there were only veggies such as broccoli etc. Absolutely a guilty free meal for sure. Well seasoned with just the right amount of salt, the dish will be a perfect meal to eat after workout. Sorry Wahoo's, I have forgotten about you for such a long time! I am so glad that I rekindled my love for you today! With the great service, great food and clean dining room, I was enlightened to say the least. read more

Absolutely one of the better fast food restaurants around that offers a good fish taco. The chips and salsa we had were okay, chips were nothing special and the salsa had a bit too much oregano as well. The Crispy Fish Taco was really good. The crispy cheese and the cream slaw make the taco pop. I had the 1988 Taco with salmon and the salmon was an overcooked and dry and the other toppings don't meld as well together. Came on taco Tuesday so got some good deals so would definitely come back for the crispy fish taco. read more

Wahoos is a unique place and one that brings back great California memories for us. You can get a healthy mahi mahi taco or burrito, with steamed veggies, carne asada tacos, butter lime rice and a fresh salsa bar. The restaurant is a bit older and could use a revamp, but it's comfortable and kept reasonably clean. Staff is always friendly and even checks on you after you've gotten your food, which is rare for a fast food place. Though the price is on the higher side of things, it's a great place to grab lunch or dinner on your own or with the family. read more

I have been to a few Wahoo's location (both in Colorado and California). This one seems to be one of the better locations, if you have been to the one by Park Meadows and felt that it was "not quite up to par", give this location a shot. If you have never been to a Wahoo's, rule number one: get your burrito smothered. Smother it with as much goodness as possible. It's really a solid 4.5 star place...I rounded down, because any Mexican (or this case "Mexican-ish") place that doesn't give free chips and salsa, is a bit of pet peeve of mine. read more

I love wahoos. I've been to some Amazing locations and some not so amazing ones. I came to this location for the first time and have enjoyed my first visit. I ordered two blackened fish tacos with white rice / black beans. I like how they have the sauces out on a table for the customers to get for themselves. The only area I could see for improvement would be to have a spot for napkins too. The customer service was very friendly and well appreciated. There was a busy traffic time at 6pm ish. Food is always pretty solid and we go on a pretty regular basis. The staff is always friendly as well so even though it's fast casual I generally leave a tip. On our recent visit after paying I noticed a 5% service charge and when you pay the standard tip options given are 18% - 22%. As I mentioned I like this place, but it can be $40 for two people at a fast casual restaurant and high seems to be getting a little much. read more

Came in at 6p. I ordered Cajun wahoo bowl and wahoo chimichanga. Brown rice in the bowl was supposed to be white, ok. I ordered guacamole, nope. No wahoo in the chimichanga, it was all veggies. I don't know if they gave me the wrong order but there were only 2 couples in the place, and 1 was done eating as I walked out. I hate to say it, but the recent price increases has made it too expensive to go back for lunch. $15+ for beans, rice and two chicken tacos is absolutely nuts. We work in the area and this Wahoos was a go to for many people in our corp office for lunch, but for the first time, a group of us walked in last week and left before placing our order because we couldn't justify a $20 check for simple Mexican food. This Highlands Ranch location is great, closest thing to the original SoCal locations here in Colorado. Shrimp and spicy chicken were prepped and cooked so well! Only downside (like every fast casual place) is the rapidly escalating cost of everything. Any decent burrito is going to run $13-20 with enhancements or options. read more

Wahoo Fish Tacos are simply beyond divine. I'm a Texas (boo) transplant to the gorgeous city of Denver and I truly love trying new restaurants. Wahoo's will NOT disappoint. There is nothing they can do to improve their food. Being from Texas I know Mexican food. There is nothing we had that wasn't pure perfection. I had the Citrus Slaw taco. Holy moly! I think this is the second time I've ever been to a Wahoo's. I'm not a fish person and I never remember they have good chicken options. I've been kind of cranky with most restaurants recently for their extremely high prices/huge price increases, junky service, and their insistence on sticking with the COVID-era practices of using so many single-use plastics when they never had done that until COVID. I also don't like it when I have to ask for things that used to just be sitting out for you to self-serve (looking at you, Starbucks). At this location, the salsa bar was set up for people to help themselves. The dishes were real dishes, no plastic plates or silverware. The drinking glasses were plastic, but not the single-use kind. The put in the dishwasher kind. The service was perfect. Friendly but not over-attentive. We were there close to closing time and they didn't rush us out. I think it might've been the owner working behind the counter and I thought he was doing a great job. The food was good. I had chicken street tacos and my companion had a salad. That is another thing -- salads at so many places have started coming with cheap "greens" that are nasty. Those pointy-ass weeds that are cheap. Wahoo's had a blend of red and green leaf lettuces with some spinach, iirc. The chicken in the tacos and the salad was prepared well and no weird gristle. Only bad part of the meal were the chips. They didn't seem like they're made on-site and they were super bland. It was slightly overpriced, but not nearly as overpriced as almost everywhere else has become. Delightfully tacky surf shack decor, plenty of outside tables. I had ceviche tostadas, served on soft corn tortillas. I've had ceviche many places, many ways. Not only is it very irritating to be prompted to tip on already pricey counter restaurant food, but on our most recent visit to Wahoo's, there was also a note at the counter stating that 5% would be added to the bill to keep Wahoo's employees happy unless customers state that they object to this additional charge. So now, Wahoo's wants customers to pay a 5% up-charge and also add a tip for the privilege of having an employee take their orders at the counter and drop it off at their tables. We tip VERY well at full service restaurants where servers work hard and EARN their tips. We are fed up with counter restaurants trying to guilt customers into paying tips just to receive their food AND now an additional 5% to "make their employees happy"???? These restaurants better start thinking more about keeping their customers happy instead of making them sorry they walked into their establishments. read more

Even though we really didn't give them much business as we had some freebie coupon cards, the guy working the register couldn't have been more kind, energetic, and accommodating. The guy behind the counter was over-the-top friendly, the food was typically delicious and hot, the TVs were showing surfing and snowboarding videos and sports news as they do at all their locations. This is a fast service restaurant that was packed! We ate lunch on a Saturday and had Ceviche (yum) and wahoo burritos with queso. They serve beer, but we were hiking so we just had water with our meal. on a beautiful day, the patio would be great! The decor is rustic beachy and the music was cool oldies. I came in and ordered an enchilada plate and burrito and asked for chips and salsa w queso, and a side of queso for my burrito. Left a 25% tip for them. Drove 30 minutes home to find out they forgot the chips and salsa and the queso for both the burrito and chips. Called at least 7 different times which in 20 minutes and no one ever answered. Drove back 30 minutes to the store to get my items they forgot. No offers of any comps for my next visit or anything until I asked. And they said 10% off next visit...unacceptable. I worked in the kitchen for 10 years front and back of the house. And the rare occasion I forget something we offer way more in compensation than 10%. Now my trip to the dog park is pushed back and plans ruined cuz of my drive time there and back being over an hour and them not answering the phone.. not happy with this experience . read more
