This place is the biggest scam on the beach of Waikiki, in front of the Hilton. They have several lounge chairs and umbrellas set up throughout the entire beach. Our first 4 days at the resort, my husband and I truly believed they were part of the Hilton and for guests to enjoy. I can't even count the number of times I saw families rush to chairs to use them as they freed up. We were able to snag some chairs ourselves a few times as well. It wasn't until our sixth day when we saw several employees packing up chairs quickly as people vacated them. We went to ask the employees if we could have some chairs, and they told us we had to pay for them. Given it was 2:30 in the afternoon, they told us they didn't recommend buying them at this point in the day because you pay a single price at any point in the day to rent them for the full day (I.e. same price at 9am as at 4pm, and they close at 5pm). We shrugged it off and went to sit near an umbrella already in the ground on the beach (again, I still thought this was part of Hilton). An employee immediately huffed and puffed his way over to us and told us we weren't allowed to sit within 6 feet of the umbrella without paying. I'm sorry but what a joke! They should either have signs up to let people know it's not a free for all, or make it more clear somehow. There is nothing relaxing about having to fight for shade on a beach vacation, and there is nothing fun about spending over 40 bucks for an umbrella for a single day. What a rip off. Can't believe people actually buy into that. Do better for your guests, Hilton! Highly recommend just buying an umbrella at an ABC store and using it for the duration of the trip.

We were staying at the Hilton Hawaiian Village and had spent our first day in the pool area sitting in the reserved cabana because we didn't want to spend the whole day watching to make sure no one stole our lounge chairs. This is the only way to go because there are no umbrellas around the super pool, so if you don't want a melanoma, then you gotta pay that upcharge. The next day we wanted to try the beach, so we reserved lounge chairs and umbrellas online with Waikiki Beach Activities. It was super easy. We lined up early at their shed, which is located on the beach side next to the Hau Tree Bar. There is a sitting wall to the right of the shed when you're facing it and that is where the line starts so you don't have to stand up the whole time. Once they opened we gave them our reservation info and they pointed us to the guy who pulled out a couple of lounge chairs and asked us where we wanted them. He put them down and started digging holes for the umbrellas, which they put install low so that you get good coverage. Yes the sun moved, but it was easy enough for us to move our chairs around to stay covered. We had a better time on the beach than the pool. A lady dropped by and sold Hawaiian treats and smartly, she had a Venmo account so we got some buttery mochi. We also found a bird who had a string and some micro filament stuck on his claw, so we caught him and untangled him, so we got a chance to be heroes. They close up shop by 5pm, so be ready to vacate your lounge chairs by then but if you're like us, you will have already spent plenty of time in the sun and are ready to get dinner.

My kids, their friends, my husband & I all took group surf lessons and had a great time. Most of us stood up & rode the mellow waves. They set you up for success by positioning you for a wave & letting go, almost like when you are teaching your kids to ride a bike. Paddling in & out the hardest part, but you may get help from the great staff (thanks, Brandon). Derrick is the best instructor, lots of experience & explains surfing well. Photos are great fun to share after, too. Highly recommend, especially if you are staying at one of the Hiltons on Waikiki.

My son had the time of his life during this lesson! He felt safe with the instructors, and I felt safe letting him go without me. The instructors were so encouraging of him and he ended up doing amazing! I definitely recommend getting the photo option, I wish I had. I only remember Hunter's name, but there was another instructor out there with him too. Thanks so much to the whole Hot Spot Surf crew!

SUP yoga with Yumi was fantastic. She explained all of the basics of using the board and led our group of two teenagers and two adults through a beautiful yoga practice. She guided us into advanced poses that could be great instagram content. She was so cute and fun. I definitely recommend it.

My daughter and I took a paddle board yoga class with Yumi, and it was one of our favorite activities during our stay. Yumi is so great! She was friendly, attentive, patient and so funny. She gave great instructions and was able to work with everyone, regardless of experience level. She took lots of pictures and video from the class, which was great. I highly recommend this activity with Yumi.

It was quite confusing to find the meetup point at the beginning, but asking the hotel staff did help us getting there. We went on the high-tide day so needed to walk a bit from the usual boarding area. Probably helpful to remind people wearing slippers as you'd need to take shoes off. They did provide proper and plenty storage spaces for your footwear on the boat (appreciated!). Drinks were pretty much bottomless and they had their very own Mai Tai so you could really enjoy the 'complete Hawaiian package'! The only problem with high tide day, it meant be prepped to get wet and going on and off the boat would be quite tricky as you needed to manage timing to avoid the tide from getting you soaking wet. I was unfortunately not the pro and literally got half-bottom wet, getting off the boat LOL. Paid off by the gorgeous sunset view!!

Some logistics to know about: you can get validated parking at the Embassy Suites for $15 (4 hours). If you want free street parking, you'll need to come much earlier and give yourself extra time to get to check-in. Check-in itself is super easy annd it's inside the Outrigger near Monkeypod. The staff is genuinely kind and welcoming from the start. They give a quick safety talk and then walk you down to the boat You'll step into the water to board and you're not allowed to wear shoes, so honestly don't even bother bringing any. It's a catamaran with nets to sit on (my favorite spot) plus regular seating and plenty of space to move around. Unlimited drinks are included and the crew constantly checks in to see if you need anything. Both times I've gone we've seen whales, which feels so special! It is definitely choppy so if you get seasick easily this might not be your move. If you're a water baby though, you'll thoroughly enjoy this experience! It also gets windy, so bring a jacket. If you love being on the water, sunsets, and a fun but relaxed vibe, this is such a good option. Highly recommend!

If it hadn't been for the care and compassion of Maya, I probably would've cried. I get motion sickness, but my kids were so excited about going on the submarine finally that I took Dramamine and threw caution to the wind. However, after the 15 to 20 minute boat ride over to the submarine, I'm sure my face was green. Although the submarine itself was 10 times more stable and calm and felt like the interior of an airplane, I was very concerned I was going to get sick in front of lots of strangers and had to exit the submarine very quickly. I left my tween kids there to experience the submarine by themselves, which is fine because my oldest son is on two swim Teams and basically a lifeguard. However, the boat had to come back and get me off the top of the submarine and it was very embarrassing and once again, I cannot say enough about how well the staff handled it and didn't make me feel silly. or stupid at all. I even bought some of the photos to laugh about the incident later. We had already gotten the military discount, but they offered to refund my portion of the submarine ride, which I very much appreciated. I would recommend this company to all of my friends. My sons loved seeing the 9 sea turtles & Hawaiian wildlife.
