Instead, he speculated--without any medical basis--that my skin tags were a sign of insulin resistance and prediabetes, despite my recent lab work being completely normal. Things only got worse from there. He claimed I had "30 or more" skin tags on my neck--an absurd exaggeration, considering I actually had maybe three small ones. I can only assume this was so he could bill insurance for an unnecessary procedure. He also insisted that I needed to buy a numbing cream because, if I came back, I wouldn't be able to "withstand the pain" of removing them. It felt like nothing more than a scare tactic to push unnecessary products. On top of that, he asked completely irrelevant and inappropriate questions about my marriage and insurance while going on a tangent about politics. Rather than providing competent medical care, most of the appointment felt like a sales pitch for cosmetic treatments. He even claimed to "treat" celiac disease, which is not something that requires treatment beyond a gluten-free diet. Fast forward--I quickly realized I was not in capable hands and made an appointment with Hawaii Dermatology and Plastic Surgery Center to see an actual board-certified dermatologist. The difference was night and day. My new doctor was precise, professional, and efficient. They completed the body scan, easily removed a few skin tags--without pushing unnecessary numbing creams or upselling treatments--and the experience was everything a medical visit should be. Do yourself a favor--avoid this place and see a real dermatologist.

It's actually a great concept because there are showers located in some of the treatment rooms for privacy, there's a kitchen for storing the collagen water and keto snacks you'll want when your treatments done and it has a really nice vibe to it. Although they offer a variety of treatments I had a Collagen Facial which was new for me. Using a special machine the tech applied heat to my face to raise collagen production. A wonderful mask was also applied and I also received light therapy. I've always done more traditional facials with extractions and peels so this was a whole new way of doing things!! Follow up care included staying out of the sun and drinking lots of water and wearing sunscreen ( things we should be doing anyway). 5 days later I'm writing this review and I'm happy to say my skin looks smoother and healthier. Things to know about the Collagen Facial : 1. It's a special machine that makes the difference. 2. You have to stay out of the sun for a few days or the treatment will not be as effective. 3. It does not hurt one bit and you'll probably fall asleep. 4. You can park right in the driveway or there is also tons of street parking. 5. My primary concern was stiffness in my hands and neck from an auto accident, but I also knew about the beauty benefits of red light healing beds and wanted to give them a try. When I arrived, Alison walked me through the process and what to expect. Even though I was already sold, I learned a lot of great new information! Both she and Ari are so friendly and kind that you feel comfortable right away. There are four separate rooms, each with a red light bed in it--the privacy is important since it's best not to have any clothing on for maximum light exposure. It's also better to go in without makeup, lotions, or oils. I also don't wear contact lenses during the treatments although I've read that it's okay as long as your cover your eyes with the goggles. I also leave my ear piercings in. The sessions are 20 minutes and feel like a warm sunbath. You can listen to music through your earbuds if you want. Overall, it's really relaxing--Immediately after my first session, I felt clear, grounded, and energized. Over the next few days, I was shocked at what I noticed: deep sleep (I have insomnia), more energy, slightly better mobility (this one will take more time), and stronger digestion. On top of that, my skin looks tighter, smoother, and more nourished, and for the first time ever, I went without makeup and felt confident about it! Since I have some melasma and uneven texture on my face, I usually have to wear concealer, but I totally ditched it because my skin is glowing! I also didn't expect my tattoos to have more color and definition, but it makes sense that healthy, hydrated skin is going to be a better canvas for ink.
