What's better than sending flowers to your loved one on vacation? Sending them a bottle of gin! The folks at Wailea Wine were helpful and agreed to text me images of their gin selection so I could pick. Delivery was $40 though the recipient was in town and swung by to pick it up at the shop so they only charged a $20 processing fee (which was well worth it with all the texting and calling, etc.) I hope to one day travel to Wailea so I can go into the shop and buy myself some of their very diverse selection! read more

The prices are good for Hawaii and much better than some of the generic liquor stores around. I found Wailea Wine by accident, while staying at a nearby condo and going out for a walk. I almost didn't go in since I'm not a wine drinker, but I noticed that they carried beer so I thought why not. Not a huge selection of beer, but NICE variety. Got my favorite Maui Brewing Company CoCoNut Porter for a good price. The owner was super friendly and helpful without being pushy at all. What a great surprise! Found Wailea Wine thanks to Yelp, and the handy iPhone app along with the GPS on my phone! How did I survive without these handy tools before? Anyway, Wailea Wine is only about a 1/2 mile (we walked!) from the Wailea Marriott/Shops at Wailea intersection. You would never know it was there otherwise. We picked up some supplies to stock our hotel fridge for nightly drinks on the lanai, and even picked up some crackers and Cypress Grove cheese! Mind you, the cheese selection isn't huge, but definitely worked for our purposes. Bonus points for the Cypress Grove cheese considering there wasn't much of a variety. The wine selection is just right and we were most impressed at the number of Santa Barbara County wines they offered...many of which we can't find at retail in LA, so to find them in Wailea was quite a pleasant surprise! I do have to say that the mark-up on many of the bottles was quite significant, while the mark-up on others was more reasonable. If you really know your wine, and know what it usually sells for at the winery or for retail back home, then you can make a good decision. Otherwise, you might be paying for quite the markup. Either way, you'll know what the end price is that you're paying, which can be quite the deal considering you could buy a bottle of wine for what 2 drinks at the resort would cost. In addition, they do offer beer and alcohol for sale as well. We added a six-pack of Maui Brewing Co. Big Swell IPA to our purchase. The owners, a married couple, were both there and extremely friendly and can provide help should you need it. read more

Or, if you would prefer something other than wine they also have beer, spirits, and plenty of cold non-alcohol beverages. A great little shop located in Wailea just up the road from Maui's premium resort hotels and condos. It's never really that busy so if you need assistance picking out your selection the proprietors can offer some great recommendations. Whether you have recently moved to S. Maui or are just visiting, if you like wine, you need to know this place. A husband and wife team are the owners and have extensive knowledge of wine and liquor. Some thinks are market up rather high but remember we are on Maui and unlike the sea and sunshine, the wine's imported. They have a very good selection of all the well known lables and a very good selection of little known wines at reasonable prices. Tell them what you like and your budget and you will walk away pleased. There is a fair selection of pre-chilled wines and you can ask for a case discount. They also have a nice selection of gourmet foods. No, you wouldn't give up Safeway but most of the things they carry you wouldn't find at Safeway. Duck Breast and Maui Meats and gelato and things like that. A wee bit pricey but overall good value. A good selection and great friendly service win me over every time. I had to go to FHB to deposit a check and arrived at 4:01PM only to learn they are closed - WTF? Anyway, as the doors closed on me I saw "Wailea Wine" so figured I'd check it out. Nice place....higher end...good stuff. So I chatted with the worker and he noted what they carried - I could have read their sign but I was just too lazy. So, picked up a nice white wine and the new red from MBC. Good times but get this.....they have meats, cheese, etc....so if you have to do date night at home and need to get some good stuff and you're 99% clueless this might be a good spot to pick up some items. Also, near Matteo's which is good so......if you go there at 3:50PM you could cash a check at FHB, buy some wine at the store and grab happy hour at Matteo's then watch some tennis at the club....I should run for Mayor! Wailea Wine's excellent selection and service was such an awesome time-saver for our 9/15/18 wedding! We simply sent our shopping list to Ed, with a few blanks to fill in since neither of us are big wine drinkers. Ed recommended fantastic reds and whites ... there wasn't a single bottle left at the end of the night, our guests loved it all! Remarkably, he also had everything else for our rather large order in stock on super short notice, easily handling a few 11th hour changes too (I bailed on personally shopping, 3 days before the wedding). The prices were genuinely comparable and fair, delivery directly to our venue was crazy prompt, and he even offered to take back anything we didn't use at a later date. Ed was so helpful, kind, and generous - we decided not to return a thing and left all of our remaining liquor for the rental house cleaning crew! (yes they profusely thanked us, best tip ever) We'll be back to Maui soon, and we'll go out of our way to shop at Wailea Wine for sure. read more

Very beautiful store. I was greeted immediately even though the man was helping someone else. Then after the other customer was finished, the shop keeper asked if I needed any help. I thankfully declined even though I was touching every bottle. I liked that he respected her I just wanted to look around. There's a large variety of wine and fancy cheeses, salmon, crackers. I was looking for some champagne or sparkling wine and was happy to find my own little section of chilled bottles. Sake above the champagne. I also saw some varieties of club soda and ginger beer. It looks like they pick the best of the best. Lots of local snacks. I grabbed some spicy macadamia nuts, a piece of dark chocolate and a bottle of sparing wine. Living in Los Angeles I have been pretty spoiled with great wine stores. Wailea Wine however is a true gem in paradise. Amazing wines and great selection of local and international delicacies. They even get fresh Maui beef delivered once a week. You can get everything from truffle butter, mind blowing cheeses to scallops and caviar. An outstanding wine store with a geographically wide-ranging array of choices. I found some of my favorite champagnes here, not to mention a nice selection of Oregon Pinot noirs, first rate Italian wines (e.g., Ornellaia, Tignanello), white & red Burgundies. We were in Maui for New Years, and picked up some nice smoked salmon, caviar, blini etc for a first rate celebration. The wines we've purchased have all been in great shape, obviously stored properly and the staff is more than capable of advising you regarding wine & gourmet food selections. The nicest owners, Diane was so helpful and pointed me in the direction of the Goat Cheese I had called about and then I found they carry ONO Gelato as well......Yummy :-) I tried several, the Strawberry was delicious, Maui Mokka.. Ive been collecting and drinking fine wines since 1982. It is my love and passion in life and I am always seeking out fine wine shops. Most of my favorite shops are in northern California and New York After making my life in paradise, I found the state of Hawaii severely lacking in good wine shops and began purchasing most wine on the internet though shipping prices are cruel. Imagine my surprise when I walked into this beautiful wine shop in an out of the way location in Wailea. I found a terrific selection of wines with numerous California cult wines including Araujo, Sine Qua Non, Bryant Family, Peter Michael "les Pavots" , Kosta Brown and lots more. They have very difficult to find Washington States Cayuse too!! While the French side is limited, There are some lovely Bordeaux and outstanding and difficult to find Rhones which I adore. The store also carries high end foods like duck breast, cheeses, crackers and much more. Glasses, decanters and wine toys are also for sale. Last but surely not least is the owner, Ed Mikesh who in addition to being very helpful, knowlegable and well manered is not pushy by any means.I love this shop and cant wait to spend some money there again. Over the past few years, my appreciation for and knowledge of wines has been on the rise. Unfortunately for me, this means the majority of wines available at the local Safeway or food land just aren't that satisfying to me the way they once were. Thankfully, there is an excellent little wine shop with a helpful, down to earth owner, who helped me stock up on and discover a slew of new wines for our most recent trip to Wailea. Apparently, the shop has been there for about twenty years - what a great spot! The owner was so nice and his selection of Cabernets and Zinfandels was so spot on.
