Probably one of the best coffee shops I have visited while traveling. The iced chocolate coconut coffee is delicious and reminds me of a Samoa cookie. I also snacked on the chocolate chip banana bread which was extremely moist and fresh. The shop is adorable and the baristas are so friendly! Highly recommend.

I was in desperate need of an afternoon pick-me-up! Thank goodness that I found Wake Up Coffee close by. I ran inside and ordered a hot white mocha latte. The girl who took my order was friendly and kind. My drink was ready within 3 minutes and just like that I was out the door. My white mocha latte was the perfect temperature and tasted great! It wasn't too sweet which I really appreciated. Thank you Wake Up Coffee and keep up the great work!

A delightful little cafe in Brunswick. While visiting Jekyll Island, I wanted some good coffee (good coffee is not available on the island) so I headed into Brunswick. Upon entering I saw they were making their own chocolate sauce for the mocha and unloading a tray of scones from the oven...I knew it was going to be good. I ordered a Hot Mocha and Blondie pastry. First, the blondie was so delicious I hoovered it before I remembered to take a picture. I asked the nice lady if I could get a corner piece and she obliged and it was the best decision I've made in quite some time. It was delicious and not overly and obnoxiously sweet like a lot of the baked goods I've tried down here. The Mocha was rich and delicious. A perfect blend of rich mocha chocolate flavor and espresso. This is definitely worth the trip off the island.

Wake Up Coffee is one of my all time fav coffee spots in my area. Both locations on St. Simons Island and in Brunswick are so cute and cozy. I love the remodeling they've done in both while keeping their cute & simple aesthetic. They have fresh pastries and some breakfast items like their avocado toast! I always order their turtle mocha with almond milk & whip cream hot or iced and it's never disappointed!! I love coming to get some work done, chat with friends, or solo! Such a brunswick gem and they deserve all the love

First off these people are by far the most kind and friendly people! Second off this place is so dang adorable I would love to even live here! Lastly dang delicious coffee!! I got their medium honey vanilla raspberry latte with oat milk and it was so delicious- their coffee beans are so fresh you can taste it in the cup and it wasn't fairly sweet or overpowering, the perfect balance to your morning. Will definitely try again!

Boy oh boy, wasn't this a good find!! I feel as if I am a coffee connoisseur, and this was the best coffee I've had in a very long time. (And I drink it everyday). Even coffee aside, I would give this place 5 stars for the barista and the atmosphere alone. This place was immaculate in every way it could be! I would love to this area just to be near this coffee shop! You definitely should give it a try!! I got an iced coconut oat milk latte, and my boyfriend got the watermelon lemonade. I've already talked about how good the latte was, but the watermelon lemonade was a major hit too. Not too sweet, not too sour, perfect amount of watermelon flavor. I just love this place!!!

This is now my all time favorite coffee shop. The food is divine and the coffee is beyond excellent. I love that the beans are roasted by the shop and that the desserts and snacks are home made. Just wish it were closer to home. read more

Been a huge fan of Wake Up since their first shop on St.Simons. Quite frankly this is the coolest place in town. Always a friendly and laid back atmosphere with killer coffee recipes. Im a big fan of their cold brews and no other coffee joint can ever touch it. If you've never been then Wake Up and hit this place up. Five stars all day. read more

It looks kinda like a hippie place with groovy furniture. Unfortunately the coffee is atrocious. There was not a lot of baked goods to be had when I went there. The service was non-existent, I don't know what the other people experienced, they may have been on drugs. read more

Great coffee stopped by when I was leaving town and wanted a coffee shop drink. The only reason why this isn't 5 stars is that they really need to have more than one person. The girl that was working was really nice and kept apologizing about the wait. The coffee was well worth the wait! read more

This place is a hidden gem. There are warm and cozy rooms for groups and individuals of all sizes. I had the dark mocha latte and my hubby had the island mocha latte.. both were delicious. We were told that the chocolate and coconut syrup were made on site. If you are in town and looking for a nice place to get away to read a book or work online with one-of-a-kind coffee, come here! read more

Been to this place several times now. So far in Brunswick, this is pretty much where I've been getting my coffee. The pastries are really good in the morning, not as good later in the day. Scones or turnovers, good flavors and quality. The baristas are very friendly and knowledgeable. Regular latte with an extra shot I've gotten several times now, because it was excellent. The Island iced latte and the turtle one were both good too, maybe a little more coconut flavor in the Island. Chocolate chip cookies had a bit of strange texture, but I was told to try to peanut butter cookies..and I will. Overall, very nice place, good atmosphere, will keep coming back regularly I am sure. read more

Great coffee and service. They have waffles on the weekend and tasty pastries during the week. I had the lavender latte and yogurt and granola; both excellent. I came back again the next morning. You may also purchase their bagged coffee, which they roast, to take home. read more

I love this place! It's so cute!! The little areas where you can sit and study!! Their drinks are amazing! I usually get either their White Hot Chocolate or Caramel Turtle Frappuccino, both very tasty and amazing!! Their pastry's and scones are delicious! My favorite scone is the Bacon Cheddar Scone! It's so good! They are so sweet and kind! I really like this place. It makes you feel welcome right when you walk in! read more

Pure excellence! I cannot recommend this place enough. I've been all over the state, and have yet to find a coffee place that is consistently this good. I know that's a bold claim, but hear me out: Not only is the coffee incredibly good, but the assortment of bakery items is, by itself, everything to write home about. Even if you aren't a scone or muffin person, you absolutely must try the raspberry white chocolate scone and/or the cranberry orange muffin. Trust me, there's something you'll like here. Five stars is not enough. Also there's a location on St. Simons, and it's equally fantastic. Have I made my point? If this place appears on your scope...do it! read more

I've been looking for a chai latte similar to one that I had at my favorite coffee shop in California, and this is it!!! After a long search I discovered their chai is just what I've been looking for. Perfectly made and totally worth it. Also had the white chocolate and raspberry scone, and it was amazing! This place is my home away from home several days of the week. It's my go to spot to stop by, get a drink, sit with a friend, study or just run into people I love. The waffles on the weekend are amazing, their chai is the best in town and my regular is the best- the Moroccan mint tea ah and the !!! More than anything though, they live true to their motto, "A people shop, that loves coffee!" It is so true and I'm honored to call it my favorite spot in town! It really is the best! read more

Small coffee shop with many choices for coffee. We were actually wanting breakfast, which they had, but there was no menu and a long line behind us. I had read in a review they have bagels, so I asked if they did and they said yes. I had that and it was one I could buy at the grocery store. My husband had a smoothie which was good. There were only two people working , one was running the register and preparing food, the other one was dedicated to food prep. I wouldn't go back. read more

Two locations that I know of, Brunswick and St. Simons. Both small and cozy with dog friendly outdoor seating. Love their coffee and the blueberry muffins are really good. Infinitely prefer to Starbucks, which has terrible pastries and inferior coffee. read more

It's rare that you find a coffee shop to frequent where they not only remember your face but your drink of preference as well. I stop here every morning and I'm always greeted as though I'm home. Coffee has a very stout flavor, way better than the chain places. The local honey they carry is exceptional. If you love baked goods, you can't go wrong with one of their shop made scones (they're especially proud of the Bacon/Cheddar/Rosemary, a house original). Comfortable, quiet, off the beaten path and the music selection never disappoints. Take the time to check it out! read more

Great sister location to the one on the island. Truthfully, I like this location a lot better. The whole decor and atmposhere just seems inviting. It's located right across the street from Zhang's sushi and next door to my favorite nail salon in Brunswick. The parking is small but sufficient to hold the patrons inside. The inside is so cutesy, I love the unfinished wood interior. It still smells of wood and it gives Wake Up that gentle homey do good-er feel that I believe they are going for. Like the establishment on the island there are little knick knacks spread throughout the store from humanitarian business which is another reason I like their business. The ladies who work as baristas are super friendly and cheerful. I've never waited long for a drink and have always been pleased with the latte art and the coffee product itself. The only bummer which isn't that big of a deal is the pastry selection. Unlike the typical pastry glass display, the pastures here are presented in pastry glass holders, which makes for a smaller yet equally delicious treat. Overall, I've been here a handful of times since my stay in the area and will continue to do so to support this awesome local business. Try their honey vanilla latte or their London Fog. It's delicious. read more

Just off Golden Isles Parkway yet miles from ordinary. Wonderfully funky atmosphere, a lending library and ambiance that invites you to sit and relax. The coffee is well roasted and intelligently brewed. why settle for less when this establishment is right on your way. read more

On November 26, 2016 my boyfriend and I walked in the shop and the barista guy did not welcomed us to the shop , started laughing when I intended to order he was obnoxiously rude and sarcastic ... "yeah would you like it hot or cold" "oh so you want it cold and blended in a swirl " and just continued to laugh like if I was stupid to not know frappuccino was the term... I much enjoy the Artists' Guild shop at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll or Glynn Visual Arts on SSI and I had the impression that this would be Brunswick's version of those handmade art stores, but it wasn't. There was a paint-your-prefab-ceramics class going on in the back studio and people gathered around a table in the cafe making a craft or something. I know these are popular with certain people but Build-a-Bear type ceramics are not for me. The store portion is laid out much like an Anthropologie vibe, made to look like everything is precious and "deep." Merch was more crafty than artsy, like Etsy as a shop, with Etsy prices. All artsy-looking commercially produced goods or handicrafts rather than actual art--I saw no OOAK items in the shop, nothing actually handmade either unless the bead earrings were handmade on a loom but again, identical duplicates of them. It seemed like everything had to be a certain matching aesthetic and be a similar BoHo Brooklyn "Beige Mom" style. Brunswick can be diverse for those who embrace it, so the store name "Makers BWK" is a little misleading in that sense. When I think "Southern" + "art" I go to folk art or Gullah crafts, memory quilts, face jugs, etc. I get it if that's too traditional and established for the under-35s, but Brooklyn BoHo? I guess it's a novelty this far from NYC. Also, as you can see in my pictures, there was no coastal art representation for the Golden Isles. Unlike the Artists' Guild shop at Goodyear Cottage on Jekyll or Glynn Visual Arts on SSI, it just seems like there is no sense of locality infused in any of the products Makers BWK had. They mention goods from Haiti online so I appreciate if those are Fair Trade but there was nothing to explain what was local. The craft market candles? The mass-produced sketchbooks? Jewelry, candles, soap, cards, sketchbooks, random snacks... again, not OOAK original art. It is what it is, and good for those who like it. It's artsy craft market stuff. It's just not for me and was frustrating to waste time to visit when online it seemed depicted as actual art for sale.

I found one here as well as carved wood piece to add to an art project I'm working on, a sculpture to donate to a charity auction I help, and a $1 Wild Republic stuffed owl that I actually had in my Amazon cart for $30! At checkout I met another Philly native who was very positive and friendly. He informed me more about the store and its functions, and made me feel very welcome and appreciated. Very good experience! Sam our waiter/server was attentive and refilled drinks as well as made some recommendations. I had the Black & Blue Wagyu burger w/cucumber salad. The burger was very juicy with burger sauce (mayo, ketchup & mustard combined), tomato, lettuce and bacon. Excellent!! My friend had the Shrimp Po-boy also with cucumber salad. The shrimp were fried and placed into a French roll with Tatar sauce as well as lettuce and tomato. He said the shrimp were hot and were cooked perfectly. The cucumber salad is a cream type salad with ample amount of cucumber slices and dill. If you live on or are visiting St. Simons Island, this is an excellent spot to try. The menu has a good variety of food items to select from as well as various sides & beverage choices from coffees to iced tea/soda to wines & crafted cocktails. Bon appetite'!

My toddler loved Linda's Sweet Potato cupcakes, which didn't even have icing. That is a good cupcake if a toddler makes note of the flavor by name, demands it each time the cupcakes come out, and refuses other offerings covered in icing! Linda is a caring person, and was very sweet to be personable and talk with us each visit. She gave my son a hug when he was full of energy (which isn't easy in a store), and he smiled and calmed down. The cupcakes are $3 each, and you get one free when you buy a dozen. She has other sweets, but cupcakes did it for me, so I never had a chance to try anything else. I spread her business card all over town, out of affection for this sweet shop! Note that each cupcake is tied inside a plastic baggie. This keeps them very fresh and moist, but can be hard to get off without marring the icing. If ordering ahead you could probably ask for them without bags if you want to keep the icing pristine. I made sure to call ahead to check flavor availability and she always had what we wanted. Can't wait to return!

At a time when chain coffee shops have standardized the individual experience, Wake Up is a reminder personalization goes beyond a few squirts of vanilla syrup and your name on the cup. I was originally lured to Wake-Up by a friend who frequents there. After spending a few mornings meeting in the relaxed atmosphere, I realized that each of the servers who prepared our lattes knew him by name as well as his order. I assumed this was an exception but once I became addicted to the smooth, rich flavor of their lattes I found myself frequenting the place as well. I soon found out knowing their customer by name is the only standard part of the experience. There are comfy places to sit and read as well as tables to study. There is a nice sized picnic table outside under a covered area. It's a great place to get shade, but it would be an even better place to sit with a book on a rainy day. The coffee and espresso boast a bold, rich flavor that holds up well to the competition. They roast all of their coffee locally at the St. Simons Island location. They used filtered water in their coffee preparation on St. Simons, and will soon be in their Brunswick location as well. Wake Up support sustainability. If you plan to sit a while you can have your drink served in a Mason-jar glass and save a disposable cup. If you have to take it on the go, rest easy. Their disposable cups and lids are made from a corn based polymer so they are all biodegradable. They are also a fair-trade store. (Their products are produced ethically and sustainable practices are used.) They sell purses, jewelry, and other crafts. The goods are reasonably priced and their display adds to the shops décor. There Brunswick location is inside a repurposed house on Cypress Mill. I thought I'd experienced the best of Wake Up until I decided to try their Banana Nut Muffin. My mouth waters when I think about the first bite of that muffin. I wasn't the only customer inside the coffee shop, but once I took a bite it was just me and that sweet, buttery tasting muffin. I could have sworn Marvin Gaye was playing. There were ample nuts and afterwards I was told the muffins and pastries are made on site. Wake Up also makes all of their own flavored syrups in house. The cakes they sell are locally sourced from Sugar Bakers Bakery. Wake up has one quirk. It's walk-in only, no drive-thru, but service is fast and friendly even when there is a line. To me, it lends to their uniqueness. There are no hours on the door but I found out there Brunswick Location is open Monday - Friday 7am to 10pm and Saturday & Sunday from 8am to 10pm. At the time of this review, the phone number to their Brunswick location was not yet listed so I asked for it. It's 912-342-8467. Wake Up also offers 'frequent flyers' card. After ten coffees or lattes, you get one free. If you go as often as I do, that's a free coffee or 16oz latte every two weeks. I've only visited the Brunswick location, but they also have locations on St. Simons Island and in Auburn, AL. Their prices are competitive. A 16oz latte is only $3.85. Great coffee, especially pour over, and some of the best pastries I have ever had (must try the scones and chocolate chip cookies). Great waffles on weekends too. Cozy environment to stay and drink as well. Only con is that sometimes there is only 1 person working and if many people come in at once you may wait a little bit. read more

So nice to have a locally owned coffee shop in Brunswick and the coffee is great. I tried one chocolate chip cookie and wasn't that crazy about it so I just stick to the coffee and iced drinks. They do have a frequent guest card, so make sure you pick one up. This is definitely a local business worth supporting. read more
