We found this place by accident so my aunt and uncle and I decided to try something new. I have to say up upon walking and we were greeted with a smile and seated to a booth. The waitress was very friendly and professional, and seemed to enjoy her job. The restaurant I have to say was clean well organized, and had a very comforting ambience. Almost like a home like feeling. Listening to the team jovially talk to each other other made you feel that you were at home. I will start out talking about the broccoli salad, OMG, that was outstanding! Though the portion was on the smaller side, the flavor was rich! I had the two for two for two breakfast, which was the two eggs, two pancakes and two strips of turkey bacon. The pancakes ice would say we're very good and of course you can't go wrong when you do eggs correctly like they did. My aunt had some type of pancake that was made into the shape of a bowl and that was phenomenal. I wished I had gotten that. My uncle's egg white omelette was overfilled with fresh vegetables! The sign of a good restaurant is when you return and the experience and food equals the previous visit. Unfortunately, our experience with a relatively new server fell short of our expectations. The manager attempted to make amends but the damage to our experience shaded our perspective. Training is key to customer service and attention by management is necessary but as what typically happens when service suffers a manager becomes consumed by other aspects of operation, then failure occurs. This is a dangerous trap for operation that must be avoided. Sometimes so many problem areas occur but first priority should be focused on the front of the house where customer impressions and experience begin. Learn from mistakes but don't lose focus on where priorities begin. Bacon quality was fatty and lattes were almost 1/2 foam for a large cup. Best of luck to this team. This place is great. The Risk It Biscuit stole the show! The eggs were a soft scramble and the gravy was especially flavourful. The pimento cheeseburger was a close second. They make the pimento cheese in house. I ordered it medium and it came out beautifully. They offer a sprinkle of cheddar to their grits which is a nice touch. It was just a fantastic find on our last trip to Fernandina Beach. You'll definitely want to make this a stop for breakfast of brunch. The inside house decor was elegant. Flowers as accents everywhere and beautifully done. Our waiter was attentive, informative and the overall service was simply impeccable. When it comes to the food itself, another home run! We went here 2 days in a row while visiting Fernandina Beach for my sister in law's 40th birthday and it was the perfect pick both times! The menu truly has something for everyone which can't always be said for my sister in law who has a gluten, dairy, and corn allergy. The portion sizes were just right and the prices were really affordable compared to other brunch-style establishments. Stopped in for Sunday brunch and got seated right away. Orientation of the building looks like the patio stays shaded year round which is nice. Look like many others had the same idea because there were no open tables outside. Started with a vanilla latte, which was quite good, and ordered the Fried Green Tomato Benedict. Batter on the tomatoes had great flavor but the hollandaise flavor was just okay. To be fair, I did order it without the hot sauce but the flavor should not entirely rely on hot sauce imo. The English muffin was too big making the ratios off. I'd rate it 3.8/5 Hubby got the Risk It Biscuit. Flavor was pretty good and filling. Personally I think k it would be better served over grits. Nice place, busy for breakfast on the weekend. Has indoor and outdoor seating. The peaches and cream would have been amazing if the peaches were heated. Ice cold peaches cooled down my hot French toast quickly. That's the only reason I gave a 4 star instead of 5. The service was great and they took the cold dish off my bill and gave us pastries to go. That goes a long way in my book to make up for a bad experience. My husband's egg sandwich was great. Busy for good reason! Since we didn't have anywhere to store leftovers, my husband and I split the fried green tomatoes Benedict and hashbrowns and added sausage. Our server Amber, said she could serve it on 2 plates (very nice). My husband asked how the hashbrowns were and she told us that the are fresh potatoes/no frozen. It was abundantly clear how's fresh everything is! Everything was beautiful, perfectly cooked, and incredibly delicious. The hollandaise sauce was smooth and creamy; possibly the best I've ever had. The fried green tomatoes were also very good even though I don't usually like a cornmeal breading. Give me a second with the hashbrowns because you may think, how hard could that be to mess up, but these are shredded finer that I usually have, so they are crispy on all the right places without being overdone, but they also are tasty and not at all greasy. Another nice touch, that is possibly just how Amber is, she calls people by their name, so it makes it feel homey in a comfortable atmosphere. Based on the reviews, I'm sure the food is great but we never got a chance to try unfortunately. Upon arriving, we were greeted by a very friendly lady making coffees. The two serving staff were in the back on their phones for a few minutes before one came out to seat us. We asked about outside seating so he handed us the menus and instructed us to pick a table. After an extended wait, the waitress came by to take our drink order. Ten minutes later, she had walked past our table numerous times doing other things and never acknowledged us again. We finally gave up and left the table. When I walked in to cancel the coffees, the reaction seemed as if they were never put in to be made. All this to be said, I'd love to try the food but don't believe I'll take the chance given the poor attention to service. read more

The tomato soup was drizzled with basil oil- nice and hot with a touch of spice - delish !! Roasted beet salad- fresh, great flavors. We dined in on a Sunday morning. There was no wait. We ordered a farmers omelette and chicken and waffles. Our food was hot and delicious. My spouse thought there could've been more chicken included in the chicken and waffles but said it was tasty regardless. The people who came in after us were done eating before we got our food. The food was also pricey but the servings very small. The food did not live up to the expectations of a the high end price. Once seated we didn't get Coffee/Juice/Water for 10 minutes or so and not once did we get a coffee or water refill. Environmentally this restaurant produces an insane amount of plastic cutlery waste that I'm positive is just a shortcut to not have dishes. Violation.... My plastic fork and knife broke cut trying to cut my 4-5 oz tiny Chicken &Waffles. Seated near the servers booth and had a nasty sanitizer towel tossed on my shoulder as it shares a counter with the backrest of the booth. (Multi-quat sanitizer bucket goes down low on your servers station just so you know.) So we tried Magnolia Cafe this morning for the first time. I was a little skeptical when I saw so few people in the restaurant (when compared to the two other breakfast places along Sadler), but we gave it a try. I ordered a croissant breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs ( I asked for dry) and Canadian bacon with no cheese; my husband got the standard breakfasts two eggs over medium, bacon hash browns and an English muffin. He also got coffee. The server greeted us right away and got our drinks; my only comment about her was she wore a very strong perfume, not a great thing if you are a server IMHO. She was very pleasant but then didn't come back to our table for quite awhile - my husband got up and refilled his own coffee finally. A few minutes later she comes up and comments that oh, you do like coffee! It didn't fall well. We finally got our breakfast & she apologized for the delay because they made mine with cheese when I asked for none so they had to remake it. The croissant was stale and soggy on the bottom - I ate half and gave up because frankly, it grossed me out. The eggs & ham were fine. My husband's eggs, however, were over EASY and basically RAW. I had not noticed it until he dripped some on his shirt! When I saw his plate, I told him not to eat any more because the eggs might make him sick. The waitress returned to our table and saw I only half of my food - she asked if I didn't like it. I said no. She pushed for an explanation so I told her - as well as said it was well below the bar of what I expected. We came home and have both been ill all day. My husband has the trots and nausea; I just have nausea...this is why I am giving a lengthy review. I have ended up in the hospital with food poisoning in the past from bad eggs and salmon, frankly which I never eat anymore. Well prepared foot is not just for good reviews, it's to keep people healthy, not make them sick. I will never go there again. read more

We had heard this restaurant was "so good" but we didn't know what their reference was. When we find a turtle nest (we are turtle trackers on Amelia Island on Mondays, at dawn) we go out for breakfast so we decided to try here! To start, it is small so far as available inside seating...maybe 10 booths/tables BUT there is quite a few tables with umbrellas outside! They started us with coffee and it was good coffee-good start. My "classic" breakfast was 2 eggs, hash browns, 3 bacon and 2 slices of thick marbled rye; everything was tasty and "so good" the price was $12.50 with coffee; I liked that! What a great spot for breakfast. We loved the food and the service was way above average.

I had high hopes when we walked in and saw the restaurant packed. So we decided to wait. After about 25 minutes of waiting, we got sat. No big deal! Then we ordered our food and waited again...this time for about an hour. That was frustrating to say the least. But to top it off, when we got our food, it wasn't very good! The quinoa salad had no flavor at all and the broccoli cheddar portion was very small ($15 for the mini soup and flavorless salad). The kids chicken tender with hash browns was a joke ($12 for that). One chicken tender broke in half and the hash browns tasted stale! When the waitress asked us if everything was okay, we told her about the food being unsatisfactory for the amount of time we had to wait and the price. The waitress did not offer to remove anything from the bills or bring it to the managers attention, but insisted on giving us more stale hash browns instead. Maybe this is just a good breakfast place, or maybe we came on a bad day - but I do not think the price of the food is worth the quality, quantity, or the time you'll wait! Opening day hours open 7am- 2 pm. Seating on patio is very nicely spaced, inside is also very cozy and comfy .We stopped in for lunch, I love smaller menus. I believe it's better to focus on a few items and make them really good rather than have a giant Cheesecake Factory phonebook size menu. We had the chicken caprice baquette with a broccoli side salad , bread was crispy and baked as it should and the chicken was lightly grilled and juicy. Broccoli salad was excellent . We also ordered the grilled cheese baquette which was filled with sweet onions and cheese also excellent. Side potato salad was very good as well, tasted freshly made. What a great place for brunch! The place was busy, but we had only a two minute wait for a seat. The patio seating had plenty of shade and the service was quick. The food was delicious, of course. I have a gluten allergy and they have gluten-free bread and made accommodations to the meal easily. I asked for a fried egg with avocado slices on top. We would have loved to try the food. We were told 5-10 minute wait for the 4 of us. We waited about 20 but didn't mind. Then they seated two tables of two people. We checked to make sure we were still on the list. Yes. A 4 person table hasn't opened yet. There was a family of 4 waiting next to us who were behind us. After we had waited almost 40 minutes they seated that family. They skipped over us. Even that family knew. They apologized to us as they left to get seated. We walked out. Went to Magnolias Cafe for lunch and was immediately told by server that "kitchen was backed up and hope y'all aren't in a big rush" which is fine and we can understand giving customers a heads up in that regard. We proceeded to order coffees, which came back wrong and when I told her that I didn't receive sweet cream cold foam on one of the coffees, she said "sweet cream Is not the same thing as sweet cream cold foam." I've worked in restaurants my whole life and have never been treated so negatively by someone whose service determines their money. Magnolia Cafe is a brunch restaurant a little off the beaten path but well worth the visit. The food is absolutely top notch with a lot of unique spins on brunch favorites. A coffee and pastry bar round out the experience, with those available in restaurant or to go. You do need to realize it's rather small inside. Six booths will seat six capably, a four person booth and three four person tables inside. Outside there are a half dozen four seat patio tables. It's easy to feel cramped. Our server was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive. The kitchen was rather slow, but to be fair we visited right at noon. There is no seating when waiting for a table, inside or out, so take that into consideration as well. All in all, while the wait was a little uncomfortable and the kitchen a little slow, we had a delightful meal. read more
