Hey, it's a small, loud and somewhat dingy seaside restaurant next to the marsh that is exactly what you want after hanging out in the hot Georgia sun all day. The food was served fresh, they took their time to make it right, and I would call it above average as far as hole in the wall seafood places go. Our waitress Marie was not to be messed with and she knew what to do and went to do it. The guys playing live music were actually very good but of course it was way too loud for such a small room. They would have done a lot better with me had they just played their acoustic guitars without any amplification. this could be said of any Seaside restaurant though. We did have to talk at full volume to hear each other at a small table all the way across the room from the band. There is pretty much zero parking anywhere so you will probably have to park somewhere and walk to this place but it was a very enjoyable dinner with big portions of fresh seafood and it really hit the spot. The service was good, as well. Plus, it's pretty much the only place around to get any kind of seafood. We will be going back and I would recommend this place for visitors. read more

I have never been so disrespected and disappointed. We had to ask for service after sitting on the deck for a while (as she was sitting at the register scrolling on her phone). Server was rude and said she didn't know we were out there. We told them when we had come in. She had also made eye contact with us when she brought a guy some ice. While taking our order, she hit her vape right at our table. After about 30 minutes, we got our fried pickles. They were lukewarm and hard as a rock. After an hour and 20 minutes, our food never came, she had never come back out to the deck to check on any of the tables, and our drinks were empty. We decided to leave. When we went to the register to pay for our drinks and leave, she threw her pen, said they only had 2 people working and 1 cook, and said we don't have a problem with locals here insinuating that we were the problem. read more

I had fried green tomatoes & hubby had the grouper finger basket, which we both snacked on cause it was a lot for 1 person. We sit at the bar when we go there & service is always great. Atmosphere is low key, country, & next to the marsh. We love this place and go try to go there at least every couple months. Highly recommend. read more

Service was slow with few customers to be waited on. We got fried green tomatoes and pickles as appetizers. Tomatoes were terrible. I got the po boy with maybe two fried oysters. It was OK but nothing outstanding. My grandson got blt and enjoyed and my daughter got a cheeseburger. The fries were good but overall the food wasn't worth the $75 we paid. My sister and I were visiting Townsend GA and found this little gem and decided to try it out. I meant to take photos of our meals but when they arrived I couldn't wait to dive in. Absolutely loved this place! It is definitely a hole in the wall kind of place but the seafood was killer! You can tell it is fresh seafood and not frozen. It's disappointing to see a previously quality restaurant struggle. I've been here three times in the last year. I used to love this place back when Dennis was in the back. We came here for years. Dennis prepared a fantastic Ribeye. The Ribeye still remains pretty darn good, but the service is another story. Two of the times we have come, it took ages to be serviced. Sure they are understaffed, but please tell us so we don't waste our time. We ordered steaks, and after waiting an hour, we asked to just take it to go. We waited 30 more minutes in the front lobby for our food before it finally arrived. No apologies, nothing. Meanwhile, one of the local drunks snuck into the bar and started giving out drinks to everyone, but they were too short staffed to remove him. On another occasion, we had a waitress yell at us when a friend of the family visiting made a statement that she deemed to be sarcastic (it wasn't and even if it was she shouldn't have reacted this way), so she became rude and aggressive. She never even came back to the table after we asked what the drink options were. Maybe she forgot, but after 30 minutes without being serviced, we left. It's hit or miss with this place. The only thing justifying the visit is the food. One of the waitresses is all business. She's been there a while and she does a great job. If she's not there, we back away slowly because this place will be a disappointment, especially on busy days. read more

Decided to try Hunters due to the close proximity to the golf course. The service wasn't extremely fast but there are really only two waitresses so this isn't a complaint in any way. The fried pickle appetizer was so good. I had the hunter combo with devil crab and grouper. Both were pretty good. Whatever batter they use on the fries is great. There were complaints in the reviews about the behavior of the staff. I honestly thought they were a lot of fun and made it more comfortable. read more

We have been here twice in the last month. I got grilled chicken salad and my husband got a hamburger. Both were delicious. On second visit we both got burgers and really good fries. We also watched football. I definitely would recommend the burgers! I want to go again and try the grilled fish. read more

Disgusting fake "scallops" made with some kind of sting ray/ fishy tasting product. Too tough to eat with grey meat within. Not surprised though, what they're selling as scallops is cheaper than the real thing. And I think cheap is what matters most here after having had everything on the simple menu. . . No local crab cakes here, but they do have Frozen deviled crab with fish /krab product. Why? It's cheaper! And the "grouper "..... I just waisted $24 here. Love Speed's Kitchen up the street whose scallops couldn't be better, white flaky meat within as it should be. . But I'm finished with this expensive restaurant with the cheap food and the most unprofessional staff I've ever encountered at any restaurant. . It's a tourist trap, so they get by anyway. Difficult to find! Ensure you use the map on their website (hunterscafe.com) Food was good! Lightly breaded (corn meal?) fried GA shrimp, battered french fries were extra crispy. Grilled grouper was perfectly seasoned and cooked. Crab stew was delicious, thick with plenty of crab. Coleslaw was ok--- I didn't care for it but I'm picky. It came out before the meal, more like a salad. It was slow--- the waitress was hauling but something else must have slowed her down because we waited a while for the food. Overall, good choice! I wouldn't sit in the bar area again because although it is slightly warmer (restaurant was pretty cold!) it was very dark. read more

We visited quite often until a few years ago. Boob Boob Shrimp is our favorite. Staff is nice - hard to find something healthy on the menus though. This is a real waterside beer joint if that's what you're looking for. Great for a cold beer after a day on the water. read more

Nice eclectic place to eat. Definitely a genuine river based restaurant set back in the Deep South. Seafood is caught fresh right in front in the place in the river. Fresh, great tasting. Don't use your GPS or you'll get lost! Definitely a hole in the wall, but food was pretty good. Split the seafood platter and server brought us extra coleslaw because we were sharing. The grouper, shrimp and crab was very good, but the scallops and oysters were underdone. We got there 15 minutes before closing, so I'll let them slide a bit for that.
