We were in Brunswick to shop at White Star lighting, and an employee recommended Nautica Joes. It's diner style, except you order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. I didn't know what to get so I ordered the club sandwich and the very nice young woman recommended having it on grilled sourdough. A good hearty sandwich, bacon, lettuce, tomato, with mayo and mustard. It had turkey, ham, and Swiss. Had sweet potato fries on the side. Crispy but good. My wife said her burger was excellent. She had potato salad as a side, very good I had some. It's a very nautically themed place, decorated in seafarers regalia. I will return to try other menu items. read more

Stopped for lunch while traveling here for work with a coworker. Small friendly place with lots of food options. Went with the Caesar Salad wrap. HUGE wrap, tasted fresh and was out quick. Decided to go here on the recommendation of a co-worker. I decided to go with the Nautica Buffalo Chicken salad. I know, not too adventurous but my co-worker got chicken quesadillas, so I got to live adventurously through him. The salad was a decent size portion and included a boiled egg, cheese, lettuce - basically salad stuff, and a fairly good serving of chicken that had been tossed with Buffalo sauce. I got a side of ranch dressing to go with it. The salad was pretty good, not anything to write home about, it was a salad. The Buffalo tossed salad was also pretty good. Basically a decent salad. If I came back to town I would probably order something else. My co-workers quesadilla looked amazing, he said it was pretty good. read more

Cut little cafe. We were traveling and did a search for restaurants. This one came up along with a list of others. The menu looked good, so we decided to give it a try. Chicken salad wrap, grilled cheese and sweet potato fries were good. Customer service on the other hand was lacking. Being first timers we didn't know the routine. We weren't greeted by either girl behind the counter or even offered a menu. We weren't asked if we were ready to order, we were only started at until I asked if she was ready to take our order. She smartly said, "Waiting on you." No thank you once the transaction was complete...nothing. I noticed as we were eating she seemed to treat what seemed to be regular customers and people she seemed to know much differently, more friendly and welcoming, even smiled. I noticed her attitude come back with a couple of other customers. Maybe she decides to be nice based on what you look like or if she knows you....who knows. We will be marking this cafe off our list next time we pass through. Good customer service goes a long way in creating a positive customer experience and this little place failed all the way around with that. read more

Sweet Tea was perfect amount of sweet. 2 good measures of a good burger place, 1 when they ask you how you want your burger cooked (Pass). And two how red there tomatoes are (fail unfortunately) as quality places spend extra on quality products and bright red tomatoes cost more. read more

Initially - I reviewed this place and gave them 4 stars - unfortunately - I have to lower the rating. The food is still good - but during my last visit - I noticed that the portion size was smaller and the customer service was sorely lacking. I mentioned in my last review that I sampled the chicken salad and it was delicious. Today, around 1:38pm - I decided to call in an order. It was a little close to their 2pm closing time, so when I called - the first thing I said was, "Hey, I know you guys are closing soon, is it too late to place an order?" The employee replied,"No, go ahead." I wanted chicken salad and side of fries. She told me I could get a chicken salad as salad topping, or a chicken salad sandwich, or a chicken salad wrap. OR I could purchase 16 ounces of chicken salad for $10.99. So - I said, "That's fine - let me get the chicken salad sandwich - but put the bread, lettuce and tomato on the side - or just omit it all together." She said, in a weirdly shocked voice, "I can't do that." I explained to her that I didn't want a tortilla or bread, and if I ordered it, I was going to have to a) take the time to just scrape it off the bread or the tortilla and b) it would be a waste of food that I ultimately was not going to eat. Now keep in mind - I was fine with paying the price for the sandwich - I just wanted them to 'hold' the bread or put it on the side. She literally told me, not bothering to even try to hide her irritation, "No . . . HE can't do that." I said, "Ok. Fine - just put it on white bread and I'll scrape it off." Immediately after hanging up - I decided - forget it - I'll just get a chicken sandwich. So I called right back and explained that I wanted to change my order. Got the same employee, who sighed loudly, then snapped, "Hang on, let me see if it's too late. He might have already started on it." So she comes back on the line and says, "It's not too late to change the order. What do you want?" I replied and said, "Let me just get a fried chicken sandwich." And she responds, in a very annoyed tone, "A chicken sandwich? Ok. How do you want that prepared? Fried? Grilled? Blackened?" So I say, very sloooooowly, "Miss. I said a FRIED chicken sandwich. Can you hear me ok?" And this nut actually snaps at me AGAIN and says, "GOSH! You don't have to yell. I didn't hear you." Now keep in mind - when I repeated myself - I didn't yell - I actually said it extremely slowly and enunciated the statement - which I'm pretty sure is what she took offense to. After more questioning, I opted to omit the bacon and cheese from my 'chicken sandwich.' When I arrived to pick up my food - I asked her if she was having a bad day. She claimed she wasn't - and said that she'd responded "that way" because I yelled at her. To be clear - I didn't - I do NOT antagonize people that are handling my food. And I have an actual recording of our conversation because all my incoming and outgoing phone calls are recording for work / billing purposes (lol). But honestly - it wasn't worth arguing about. We discussed the upcoming storm and I explained to her that wastefulness aside - another reason I did not choose the option to purchase 16 ounces of chicken salad is there was no way I was going to eat that in one day - and if we lost power - I'd be reluctant to eat it the next day since it's mayo based. That evolved into a very civil conversation about the weather. So - to be clear - even though I'd been 'warned' about this restaurant LOONG before the ladies at the office across the street gave them a glowing recommendation - I still don't think they're racist. I think they're like a lot of restaurants in small towns: They know when you're in small towns - you don't have a lot of choices (for non-fast food in Darien, we only have got Nautica Joe's, Skipper's, B&J's and Blue Bay) - so you're stuck with whatever crappy customer service and ridiculous limitations they impose on you. Even horrible fast food restaurants like Burger King allow you to 'have it your way' - so if Nautica Joe's can't offer that bare minimum of service - I have to cross them off the list. (I think the 'employee' I was dealing with was one of the owners since it's a family run restaurant - so that makes it even worse. It was the blonde lady with the feathered hairdo.) On a final note - the chicken sandwich was good and the very small portion of crinkle cut fries were crispy, hot and tasty. But even though I omitted cheese and bacon - I still wound up paying for a 'premium' sandwich - so I definitely overpaid for a basic chicken sandwich and handful of french fries. PS - Even though they don't have an menu board / intercom outside - apparently they do actually use the drive-thru window - so you can call in an order and pull up to the window for pick-up. read more

I finally gave this restaurant a try and I'm so glad I did, it's my new favorite lunch spot! So far I've only tried the club sandwich and sweet potato fries. Highly recommend! They stay super busy during lunch, but it's so easy to call in an order and go pick it up. Also, if you like your tea sweet, then this is your place. I'm so thankful that they are still open and serving great food even when short staffed! read more

Absolutely AMAZING Chicken Caesar Wrap! Actually I think it's safe to say it's the best wrap I've ever had. Perfectly seasoned, and it paired great with their sweet potato fries. I love this place and highly recommended it! They have a great selection of sandwiches and all types of tortilla flavors to choose from. Also, the staff is very friendly! I have lived down the street from this place for 4 years and just ate there for the first time a few weeks ago. It is wonderful. The chicken caesar in the sun dried wrap is outstanding. Some of the best potato salad ever. The hamburger puts Mudcats, B&J's (gross all around), and Skippers to shame. The only negative is they are only open 3 hours a day, Monday through Friday. Very serviceable! Not sure why they call it Nautica Joes. They only have 2-seafood dishes. I went with Maui Sandwich (blackened). It was a generous portion and spicy. I liked the tarter sauce. It had some chipotle added. If I only had one meal in Darien, I would go to BJ's or Skippers Fish Camp but after 3-days here for UGA research, it works. read more

Found this stop on trip advisor while searching for a cute town on a road trip from Orlando to Charlotte. We stopped just off of 95N in this little historic town to stretch our legs, gas up & eat lunch. Nautica Joe's is connected to a gas station & has a drive-thru window, but that doesn't at all take away from the charm. The young lady running the place will take good care of you with a warm smile & personality. The food is tasty, and comes out quickly & hot! Felt like we stopped by an old friend's house for lunch. The burger was the best we had on the entire vacation, the grilled veggie wrap was delicious, the veggie & cheese quesadilla dipped in sour cream was amazing & she made a special order chicken, tomato & cucumber wrap for my lactose intolerant 6 year old who asked if I could start making it for her school lunches!
