If the only review I gave Trucking Delicious was I really enjoyed what they had to offer, I think it would be enough to demonstrate how much I enjoyed my plate of food from this food truck in Hanalei. However, something as brief would be an injustice to this location. They serve traditional Hawaiian style plate lunches out of a food truck in the very quaint food truck stop off of Kuhio Hwy. Their selections are limited, but what they do offer they do very well. I ordered the sweet and spicy coconut shrimp with a side of macaroni salad and kimchi. The shrimp was very well cooked with the panko bread crust being light and not very doughy. The sweet and spicy sauce was well balanced and offered a complex level of flavors that really highlighted the shrimp. The side of kimchi wasn't very spicy for the Asian taste palate, but the fermented sourness down. What really made the meal was their take on the traditional macaroni salad. I've had my share of macaroni salads throughout my time and hands down, this was the best macaroni salad I have ever had. In fact, I can confidently say that if given the opportunity to any macaroni salad throughout the states, this would be the place I would choose. There was something very unique and pleasant about the texture and taste of this item. I am not about to try and figure out what its makeup was, but I can confidently say it was incredibly complex yet probably very simple and offered an incredibly level of flavors. I came here for a late lunch and was bummed to find out all the shrimp got sold out. I think if it didn't I probably would've enjoyed my meal a lot more. The service here is pretty good. I saw the owner giving great descriptions to the customers in front of me. I ordered the Hawaiian plate had wasabi ahi, Kailua pork, salmon Lomi lomi, side of rice, and a choice of your own side $18. As well as the dragon fruit lemonade $4. Everything was okay on the plate, but nothing spectacular. The pork was tender and a little too salty. The salmon lomi lomi was a bit too salty for me. The wasabi ahi was good as well, and comparable to foodland. The dragon fruit lemonade is tastes pretty much exactly like lemonade, but you get the bits of dragonfruit so you get an extra level of texture. Would recommend if you like lemonade. My suggestion is to come earlier than me (1:30pm) so you can try their shrimp. read more

Trucking delicious is outta this trucking world! My hubby and I ordered the garlic shrimp and Kalua pork. Both are to die for! The shrimp are huge and the best part is sucking the heads so do yourself a favor and don't toss them. They're so sweet! They give you a serving of rice and choice side and we decided on kimchi for the shrimp and Mac salad for the pork. Portions are huge so make sure you're hungry. I've never had anything like that churro french toast, that is just plain nuts. It's crispy, crunchy, yet soft in the middle and still has the french toast like custard taste. The cinnamon is the prominent flavor, and then you dop it in that cream stuff they give you and wow it's like a breakfast dessert that you can eat every day. The kalua pork breakfast burrito also was amazing, big chunks of pork, eggs and some hash brown things all rolled up in a grilled tortilla, I don't think it gets any better than this. Seriously though those 2 things are worth coming here day after day for, I'd get it for 2nd breakfast and walk back over to Hanalei and eat it on the beach. Trucking Delicious is certainly the most popular. Friend ordered the garlic butter shrimp and I had the Coconut Shrimp. The garlic shrimp was flavorful and juicy and you could tell they were fresh. We loved this place so much we came back twice on our 6 day trip in Kuai. Our first time we arrived at 12:15 and there was no wait, we just walked right up and ordered (FYI, this is no longer a food truck, but a storefront with a walk-up counter). My friend and I both ordered the coconut shrimp (as recommended) and it did not disappoint! We only waited about 15 minutes before our names were called. I would say one of my top meals while on the Island! It's cooked to perfection and the sauce is just so delicious. It comes with a side, I got pasta salad and the rice can be dipped in to soak up all the extra sauce! The second time we wanted to return to try the brunch on a Monday (Memorial Day), so we called this one in ahead, we called it in around 10am and were told it would be about a 40 minute wait. Once we arrived we paid, and had to wait about an extra 5 minutes until our names were called. Both times eating here, we were able to secure a picnic table outside (which has beautiful views of the mountains). Brunch was also great - I got the jalapeno cream cheese + egg sandwich which was very satisfying, and my friend enjoyed her burrito. A friend and I ate here twice in a week while visiting Kauai! We stopped for lunch on our first day on the island and both got the coconut shrimp which were incredible - probably my favorite thing I ate during my time on the island. There was no wait on a Thursday around lunch time which was a nice surprise. We went back the following Monday for breakfast that we had called in. It was a 45 min wait to pick it up which was fine and a little expected as there weren't many other places open for breakfast in Hanalei at that time. I had the pork burrito and she had the ry-boo bagel. We loved them both, the burrito was huge and lasted for two meals. We also had juices both times which was incredibly fresh and yummy. Decided to give this place a try after reading the good reviews. It's a little hard to find as the food truck is located at a slight distance from the Main Street. The menu seems to change daily as the items we saw on yelp were quite different. Ordered the shoyu chicken and teriyaki ahi katsu. Overall the taste was pretty decent. The flavors were strong. The ahi katsu was drenched in delicious teriyaki sauce with some wasabi. The fish itself was a little dry. But the katsu made up for it. The shoyu chicken had flavor of ginger and soy sauce. Pretty easy to eat Would recommend this place if you are visiting Kauai. There aren't many choices around here and food in general is somewhat pricey in Kauai.
