I was at Walgreen's at Southshore Ctr this afternoon to pick up my medication and there were only 2 ladies working there who ignored me for 15 minutes. A male employee walled out of the covid vaccination room so I asked if there was anyone working there to pick up my Rx. He said they were understaffed. I also told him there are people (in a car) waiting at the window for a long time as well. I decided to move my prescription to another pharmacy so I called the Otis location, waited 30 minutes, and hung up. Someone would pick up the phone, and put me on hold with music. This occurred several times so I called the toll free number in Deerfield, IL. She was nice enough to transfer my prescription to the new pharmacy (not Walgreen's), but it would take 2 days. Never going to this place with poor customer service at their pharmacy. I would give it one star. read more

Even though this Walgreens is bigger than the one on the west end of town (1916 Webster Street), it's an okay place to purchase necessities. I had some past issues with this store. A few years back their manager said his cashier did not shortchange me $5.00 when I purchased about $70 to $75 worth of merchandise. I was so pissed that I got somewhat ghetto, told them to take all their stuff back and give me my refund. Yeah, I caused a scene and got loud...hey I didn't friggin care if the customers heard me. As I left out of the store, I made sure I was loud enough for the cashier (who was Chinese) to hear me call her a "sei chao hai". On October 8, 2013 it was AARP/senior day. I was supposed to get 20% off on their brand items (Walgreen, Delish, Nice, etc.) and 15% off on named brand items. Cashier told me the adjustments were made, but the receipt did not indicate so. Even the manager of the store sided with her. My hubby and I were here due to convenience since we had just left out of Safeway. He needed a box of Claritin D for his allergy. Well, we were bad because we forgot to show them the Walgreens rewards card and had to pay $2.00 more than the sales price. Customer service is about a 2.5 stars here, but I'm gonna round it up to 3 stars for convenience and the merchandise they carry at this store. read more

This is my fav Walgreens. It is open 24/7 and I've known all of the long time employees for over 25 yrs. It is a very clean and well stocked store and the customer service is outstanding. The employees are very helpful and have such good attitudes. Now, some of the managers throughout the years have been mean and nasty to the employees in the presence of customers but somehow they survive and out last the carnage. read more

I filed a complaint 12/18/23, Britany the pharmacy manager, did not call me back until 12/27/23. The worst customer service ever. I had a flu shot 12/7/23 and a Covid 19 shot 12/ 18/23, both shots there was no quality control. Neither shot adminster, ask me for my first , last name, neither verified the vaccine I was to get, neither told me I should sit for 15 minutes after each shot. Very dangerous, as there was no proper quality control, or safety measures from either of the the people who admistered the shot. The pharmacist did not administer the shot ( as is standard at CVS), who knows what the background of the person who administered my vaccines were. I highly recommend goint to CVS instead of Walgreens for any vaccines. CVS follows strick safety protocals and only their pharamists administer the shots. There is a reason why all yelp reviews are 1 -2 stars for this Walgreens, it is the worst. !!!!!!!Absolutely the worst customer service, worst safety. read more

Walgreens at Alameda's Southshore Center.....I shop there maybe 6-12 times all year. I don't like the place because the cashiers are unorganized and some ppl just cut in line. Best time to shop here is early in the morning when the store is clean and there's few customers. I do notice they have nicer items than CVS, so I try and visit a Walgreens more often. Free parking in mall lot. Near bus stops. Easy to find at Otis Drive x Park Street. read more

It's the light skin dragon telling you what's happening he's in the bay farm!!! Cherri was my cashier very nice and helped me understand about the clipper card to get around the Bay Area. I'm a little late with this post but know she is a great worker. When I walked in I was in need of a clipper card and she took out the time to explain what to do and how much I should put on it. The store was great in a nice neighborhood and there was plenty of street parking. The store was big and had section for pharmacy, photo, and in store pickup. I would def be coming back to see Cherri and see how she is doing. Great customer service experience I had and I would never forget it. Even after all this time I haven't been. This is for the pharmacy! I had a dentist call in a prescription into the pharmacy and what ensued was absolute chaos. It took three trips to get the prescription filled and countless issues. Terrible customer service that did t know what happened to the prescription only acknowledging that they received it. The Pharmacy has very poor customer service. I am basically confirming prior reviews. When I called I was sent to hold then after waiting 45 minutes they picked up and hung up immediately. This happened repeatedly until I finally connected with someone. The pharmacist refused to give her name. Not even a first name or a made up name. Now I am having trouble transferring my prescriptions because CVS can't seem to contact them! read more

Today was horrible. I came in to puck up my prescription. For some reason I guess it was better to get it by going in the drive through? I thought the whole point of walking around is for people to look browse and buy things. I went in and was ignored. No one helped me or even asked what I was picking up. I just waited snd waited while the drive through was getting all the attention. Why was I not being helped? She helped at least 3 cars. The lady before me waited at least 20 minutes and was ignored. Then I waited another 20 minutes. So all in all the line inside the store's wait time was 40 minutes. WALGREENS was founded in Chicago in 1901, and it began as a grocery store, then expanded to sell ice cream and milkshakes. Today, most Walgreens stores have a pharmacy, beauty counter, and photo department. Walgreens at Southshore Mall is especially attractive to me, because I need to visit this mall every couple of weeks to get 50-page documents printed for my daytime job. In the past year, I had the urge to get scans of most of the color slides that my dad took when I was a kid, and of most of my color negatives and black and white negatives. As a result, I now have about 600 more jpeg files than I did 12 months ago. COLOR PHOTOGRAPHS. Walgreens has a miraculous machine that accepts jpeg files and tiff files, and manufactures color prints. I always order color prints that are 8 inches X 10 inches. Typically, I spend $100 each time I visit Walgreens and order a batch of color prints. Customers need to plug in their flash drive, and then select the size of each print and number of copies of each print. Although a little tricky, I was able to train myself on using the machine. Today, I ordered forty color prints, with some of the photos dating when I was five years old and playing with blocks, some when I was 10 years old and making model boats, some when I was 16 years old and making oil paintings and playing in a rock'n'roll band, some of the photos showing me performing on stage at a bluegrass festival, some of the photos from my honeymoon on the Big Island, and some of the photos (these being from last year) of me exploring Anza Borrego Desert State Park. Over the past several years, I was wondering if color prints were obsolete and if they were replaced by viewing the pictures on the computer screen. Today's encounter with my latest back of prints from Walgreens answered the question. The answer is this: Prints are not obsolete, because the details you can get in a print from Walgreens, the vibrant colors, and the look-and-feel of holding a photograph on sturdy glossy paper, are simply NOT AVAILABLE with viewing on a computer screen. ATTACHED PHOTOS, PRINTED AT WALGREENS. The attached photos show me at the age of 5, 14, 32, 40, and in the present era. The present era photograph shows me taking pictures of a vulture in Anza Borrego Desert State Park. It is not a real vulture. It is made of cloth. I bought the vulture at Mission Trails Regional Park in Sandy-Eggo. OTHER PURCHASES. Walgreens is also my standby place for buying men's shampoo, bar soap (Dial or Irish Spring), $20 eyeglasses, Tobler chocolate, red licorice, and instant ice (this comes in a bag, and you crush the bag, and the contents become cold and stays cold for 20 minutes). read more

The pharmacy here is disappointing. They have declined in service over the last few years and it's not clear why. This used to be my preferred pharmacy even after moving to a nearby city. I thought perhaps COVID was negatively impacting their service and attention to detail but I recently filled my husband's Rx at another Walgreens and they were not only prompt but also incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. This Otis location in Alameda has folks helping out who either don't know their systems, or how prescriptions and insurance work or the pharmacy's tools need to be upgraded. I have had multiple prescriptions on auto-refill, only to wait in a 20+ minute line to be told it wasn't refilled and that I need to come back. This has happened a handful of times, sometimes even after receiving a text messages that I have a prescription ready. I was also once told that my insurance didn't approve something when that wasn't the case. My doctor just had to renew the prescription for me. I am not sure what's going on but I will likely switch to another location if this continues. Today's example: I stood in line for over 30 minutes inside this Walgreens to be told that the prescription I was there to get was not ready and cannot be auto-refilled. It was helpful to get that clarity since I was told multiple times they would update it for me so that I wouldn't run into this same issue again. I was then told to come back in 30 minutes to pick it up. I asked a few times to clarify if I can indeed come back - today - in 30 minutes. I even paused one last time before leaving and asked "OK, so TODAY? THIRTY MINUTES?" - being assured, that I was tracking what I heard correctly. I left and ran errands for about 1.5 hours. I decided I would just go through the drive thru this time to pick it up. I waited in the drive thru line for 20 minutes. I didn't mind and wasn't surprised. I got up to the window, told them I was there to get my Rx only to be told "Oh it's not ready yet" - This is UNACCEPTABLE. I would have gladly come back the following day if I wasn't told to come back today in 30-minutes. The woman who helped me was kind and patient and handled my frustrations perfectly. But I did tell her that I wasn't leaving without my prescription. She quickly worked to get it together and I apologized for my frustration. But this is a perfect example, of why a lot of the reviews are what they are. Pay attention to detail and don't give customers a generic bs answer. People know they have to wait around a bit and the lack of clarity and attention to detail makes things worse. read more

This is the last time I use this pharmacy. This is not the last time I've made that claim but this for real, I'm not coming back. I used the Walgreens app to refill my prescription 4 days ago and received a confirmation that they received my order that same day. I figure 4 days is enough time for them to put some pills in a container and print a label so I go in to pick them up. There's no line at the pharmacy but there's nobody behind the counter either. I stand there and wait and someone walks out from behind the counter and says someone will be helping me shortly. I wait another 10 minutes before their drive through phone starts ringing and they help the drive through customer first. They see me there and tell me they'll be right with me. After they're done helping the drive through customer, who came AFTER I did, they help me. I tell them I'm picking up and they look at their computer confused and tell me there's no order for me. I show them the email and they look surprised and offer to fill it for me while I shop. While I'm shopping nearby I hear them telling other people the same thing about not having an order for them. They finally call my name and I head over there and when they see me they ask me if I was waiting for something like if I hadn't been there for half an hour waiting for them to fill my prescription. When it's time for me to pay, they tell me they need to use the register in the drive through and not at the counter. My physical CC was suspended (fraud) and as I was waiting for a new one to arrive, I was getting by on using Apple Pay. Not being able to use a CC and having to pay cash for my $100+ prescription was a nice touch at the very end. They were nice the whole time, but completely disconnected and out of it. read more

Hours are only 8a-3p! Store is boarded up. Some stores in the area were boarded up due to riots / looting, but that was 2 weeks ago! Everyone else is open as normal and plywood has been removed. But not at Walgreens! This store is poorly managed at best, or so it seems. read more

This review is for the Walgreens Pharmacy dept on Otis Street. What's the point of making vaccine appointments if they can't keep them? I deliberately made my online vaccine appointment for mid-morning and mid-week since I figure they will be less busy. I check in 10 minutes before my appointment. They aren't too busy and there is plenty of pharmacy staff inside the pharmacy area. I am still kept waiting 30+ minutes before a pharmacist comes out to give me the shot, which took less than a few minutes to do. Their priority should be for the people on-site, but customer service is poor. read more

The staff is rude and disgruntled, the pharmacy automated phone service doesn't work, and expect to wait for about an hour on hold if you can ever actually get through. HIGHLY recommend you don't use this pharmacy. The absolute WORST pharmacy ever. They never pick up the phone (they just continually put you on hold again and again without acknowledging you), lose prescriptions, and the lines are FOREVER. I just went to pick up two prescriptions - that I had to go through the store manager to get a response for- and when I arrived to pick them up, they only had one. I said I there to pick up the other as well. The woman walked away (I presumed to get the 2nd prescription) and about 15 minutes later some other person came up and asked for my insurance information. I gave it to her and she said this pharmacy doesn't take my insurance (I've been using this same store / insurance for years). She then proceeded to hand me only the first prescription again. Had no idea about a 2nd one. This is after THEIR system has sent me reminders to refill. Infuriating. read more

The store charged me for a bag when they don't have a carton of cigarettes. Hiding soft pack on hard pack rate. Mixed all together. I wouldn't need a bag if they have a carton or give me a carton at first. After charged me with bag I realized single pack is way cheaper than a carton but they charged me 1 carton and 6 pack so 16 total. They rechecked and told me the discount is only the one that discount on the pack and I continued to wait they ended up having a carton. Still charging me at carton price and a bag which I don't need. I don't have a loyalty or trust in this branch anymore . read more

Pharmacy complaint. Staff is unprofessional, and rarely answers the phone even during non-peak hours. One employee/pharmacist has a loud, grating, hostile voice. Their lack of bare minimum customer service is a disservice. Elderly patients rely on your pharmacy for assistance. Common decency would go a long way. Just was in here last night 4/27/16. As I got in at around 11pm there was a line of a few people. I'm not sure how but the line moved lightening speed. I guess it is because people here likely come in for one item, like a pack of cigarettes. Interesting to note is they had Jumbo Strawberries - the biggest I've seen in a long time. They were on the expensive side but looked fresh. There is a large selection of food here that looks great. I never see people buying it but it all looks fresh. Perhaps they take a loss in this area?
