There was no hard sell, but rather an array of choices from which to choose. I have been to other MDs who were pushy and that seemed unprofessional. They would talk about my poorly aging skin in a critical way. I suppose it was intended to motivate me take care of that under their scalpels, but it made me uncomfortable. No one knows my skin better than I do, and I do not need to feel worse. I have been looking for solutions, not confirmation of the problems. In contrast, Dr. Lange did not comment in the same way. Instead, he told me what he could offer. I appreciated Annrika who explained the financial part of the practice - again, no hard sell, just the facts. The office staff was friendly and efficient, and the office space is clean and beautifully designed. I reluctantly agreed because I don't like giving my face that much time to wrinkle and I was already at a disadvantage but I assumed she wanted to right the problem. After the 2 months she said to wait I went to book and asked about - at the very least would there be a discount since it's clearly her idea to wait. And that would be a no. At no point did he tell me there would be a consultation fee, nor in my calling around, is a consultation fee usual from those I've spoken to. At the point his assistant told me of the $225 consultation fee I felt somewhat defeated but she said they would bill my insurance for reimbursement to be sent to me. About a week ago I received a check from my insurance company for $80. I was so upset. I do not have loads of money available for dental work and budget everything carefully. I wrote the office. They had been following up with me multiple times to schedule my next appointment. I told them I could not in good conscience go back to a place where something so basic was overlooked and shrugged off. The response was verging on gross. It was sort of a "too bad for you" if you want the consultation fee waived you'll have to make an appointment to continue. To sum up. I lost money. They lost nothing. I wasn't asking for a refund but to meet in the middle and let them know this was damaging to my trust and finances. The tone was clearly in disregard of me as a patient or as a person.
