These bad boys are the bomb...

I dont believe this store deserves anything less than 3 stars as a whole. This location has been very consistent through the years and is located in downtown Oakland. Most all of the employees are helpful and nice with the exception of a few rotten apples(2 apples "employees" that fell from the tree years ago and still haven't rotted away. Lol). Their are prejudice employees in most all areas that you see/come across when you have beautiful brown skin like mine :) So, I don't discuss them much. This location has everything from T-shirts, food, salads, candy, hygeine products (take note)drinks and even souvenirs from all over the Bay. They have a free Walgreens rewards card that gives you really nice discounts and allows you to collect rewards in the form of cash thats used to reduce your bill. The discounts are pretty "Fetch" and easy on the pockets. Adrianna was the cosmetics director/employee here for several years and was recently promoted/moved to a different location as a beauty consultant. She is a very pretty gal(inside and out)and was by far the nicest and most helpful employee at this location. It was sad to see her go, but there are still other cool, collected employees here as well. Whether hungry, musty, thirsty, or shopping for gifts, Walgreens has it all...some even have liquor and wine (Those are the real 5 star locations)...oh, yeah I said musty...some need to get to Walgreens right now and handle that! Please and thank you. 4 cheers and a beer if they had one!

Hellaciously expensive, crowded, understaffed, and definitely lacking in product choice. Yech. I'll wait the extra 15 minutes to CVS!

As my puppy and I approached along 14th street I could see 3 extremely drunk thuggish types urinating in unison on the wall and sidewalk with no attempt to hide their jewels. I slowed my walk to a tip toe hoping they'd hurry up and finish so I wouldn't have to deal with it as I walked past. 2 of the 3 finished but one of them was a marathon pisser and no matter how slow I moved I was getting closer. At long last he finished and began zipping up just as I walked past him into the entrance of the store. He stopped buttoning up, grabbed my arm and said "yo look, come here and talk to me for a min" YUCK!!!! I've now been pulled cloese enough that both my dog and my feet are in a piss puddle. WTF!!! I freaked, told him how nasty he was much to the delighted humor of his friends, glared at the employee who was outside smoking, watching the whole thing happen without making any attempt to stop it, I gave them 2 stars for their late night hours and for the nice super young cashier that works late most nights. He's always nice and polite to me. But they need to get the people that hang out there under some control because some variation of this event happens every time I go there, whether or not my boyfriend is with me.

They are open LATE (see hours). They aren't cheap, and they have really good alcohol. While most liquor stores have a general, cliche selection of boring beer (Bud, Coors, Miller, Corona)--these guys are heavy handed with local craft. Faction Brewery in Alameda (for example) makes a really good brew. My two favorites are The Penske File, and the Faction Pale Ale. Broadway has them BOTH. Faction is not impossible to find; it is rare. Off the top of my head, others include: (Faction, Almanac, Anchor, 21st, Drakes, and Fort Point. Also a lot from So Cal. (Stone, Beaver, Ballast Point). Im sure more. That's just beer! I haven't made my way to wine or spirits... But picture the best of everything local that bottles and they may have it. In addition to alcohol, they also sell bitters, as well as syrups. Also sells lots of tobacco and a lot of other nicotine products. But come on, that shit sucks and is horrible for you!
