A decent Walgreens store on Lakeshore Avenue in Oakland. I come here for some of the essentials when I'm in this area. This store is right next door to Trader Joe's, so parking on the lower level is major league hectic, you definitely have more luck trying to park on the upper level here. My prescription was sent here and it was difficult for me to take time off work to pick up my meds - which I needed asap. Whenever I called, the pharmacy always answered and were very patient and informative. I learned I could have my meds delivered to my home, via door dash and the reps here told me the process. That's exactly what I ended up doing. Because of their help, I did not risk running out of meds and having to wait until the weekend to pick up. Great service. read more

Made an apt, checked in to my apt, waited 15 mins, then said inquired about my apt, asked to wait another 10 and I became very irritated. After waiting 30 minutes, I was like what is happening. They basically ignored my appointment and refused to administer my vaccine. The guy questioned why I was getting a vaccine, then he had to google the vaccine and tell me I was wrong. Anti vaxer idiot. After arguing at them I left. I cannot have an dumbo googler giving me shots. In total with argument I wasted 50 mins. POS ruined my time and morning. First time at this pharmacy only because they were the only ones within 100 miles who had what I needed. Three people working at the pharmacy and there's a line of 10 people! Moving very slowly. Normally I have no issues with this Walgreens but they really need to update their website inventory. I am trying to order a hair dye online and it says it's not available at this location but when I went to the store they had 10 on the shelf! This is a great Walgreens pharmacy with smart staff who know what they are doing. I had a complex set of prescriptions To fill and the pharmacist carefully walked me through every step of how to take the medicine and in what order. I was nervous about one of the prescriptions because it cost more than $300 and was not covered by my insurance. First the pharmacist checked his books and found an appropriate Generic to substitute. That cut the price in half. Then he found some discount coupons and I walked out of there paying only $86. Still a lot of money but..... Some of the medication was pretty heavy-duty so I wanted to make sure I got it right. The prescription clerks were also very polite and professional. read more

I'd give this zero stars if I could. I came here a couple months back for my flu shot and despite having an appointment, I was asked to wait and told that until they checked in a few more people, they wouldn't give me my shot. The pharmacist then couldn't open the door to the little space where they give the flu shot and managed to lock herself out, delaying the process even further. I figured this was a one off so I made a covid booster shot here as well. Big mistake. My appointment was at 2:40 and I came at 2:15pm, as the instructions said to be 15 minutes early. However, I arrived to find the pharmacy closed and a note that said "out to lunch, back at 2:45pm". Interesting, given there were three people ahead of me in line who had a 2:20pm appointment. That's just terrible planning and organization. The team showed up right around 2:40pm, and then took over 20 minutes to check in the three people ahead of me. Turns out the guy who was checking people in was also trying to service the customers looking to fill prescriptions. Despite having filled the form out online, as instructed, I was told I now needed to do it again and to wait while it printed (another 10 minutes). Which I did. And then I waited some more. While I waited, the two people behind the counter told me they were understaffed and the store needed to hire more people. In fact, the guy who helped me was so frustrated that at one point he was literally throwing the prescriptions. From my arrival time of 2:15, it took until 3:20 for me to leave with my booster, having had a 2:40 appointment (and no, they didn't make me wait 15 minutes after the booster). Terrible planning and this location definitely isn't set up for success or to handle any kind of influx. An overall frustrating experience. I get that the staff were completely stressed and overtaxed, but their own poor planning of taking a break during appointment times really didn't help the matter. read more

I've come here several times to use the FedEx drop off services. Occassionally I'll buy something if I happen to need something while I'm in the store. It's consistently a horrible experience. The associates who work in this location must be especially trained on the worst customer services practices. There's never anyone at the checkout or the FedEx. God forbid you track someone down to help you, they act like they're doing you a favor. Be prepared to apologize for being a customer if you are unfortunate enough to have to frequent this store. I moved to this area and had to have my prescriptions transferred over. I went to Walgreens and filled out a form for them to call my old Walmart pharmacy to get the prescriptions. The next day, I get an email from Walgreens saying that my meds are ready to pick up. I go to the store, wait in line, and when it's my turn she says that none of my prescriptions have transferred over yet (so why did I get that email then??). Then, a whole week later, I call Walgreens and they say I should call Walmart and ask them about a delay in transferring my prescriptions over. Then Walmart tells me that Walgreens never reached out to them about my meds. I call Walgreens back and they call Walmart and the next day they finally did have my prescriptions and meds ready. However, by then I had already missed several days of my birth control so thanks a lot Walgreens - super helpful. Then when I went to pick up my meds finally, I had to wait in line standing for literally 30 minutes in a line that did not move at all the first 15 minutes. This Walgreens does not know how to run a pharmacy. They need more competent staff. read more

This Walgreen is in a little plaza, next to Trader Joes, and Peets Coffee. Every time I go, there is always only one employee at the checkout station and their service is very slow, causing the line to grow very long. I've completed an online order with them and it wasn't a great experience, it takes them a long time to get the order ready and they were very rude. The aisle is always empty. Two stars for some of the deals they have sometimes. Otherwise, I wouldn't come back. read more

The pharmacy staff is stellar. I had two vaccines scheduled on different days because of availability for me and family members. We came for our first shot and they noticed we would be back in two days for another and offered to give us both. We spoke to multiple people on staff and were met with kindness and smiles. Security in the parking lot and inside - parking lot was sort of tight but easy to find a spot - convenient to Trader Joes and lots of other places. Friendly employees. Pharmacy was very friendly and went out of their way to navigate the OTC aisles - I would think this is sort of out of the scope of their work. All the medications are so overwhelming mostly bc of the numerous varieties of the same things. I was appreciative to have professional help. Felt very safe to have all the security and I think even a police car parked up front. The cost of something like that is enormous - don't want to overthink it but it comes with the times. (I've got lots of sympathy that so many drug stores have become targets for all the nonsense). Only negative was I noticed lots of end caps being moved around revealing lots of old flooring. I am amazed at how much patience the employees have with customers who are frustrated. people blame the staff of the shortage but if you look it through a different lens it's not the employees on the floor. it's corporate who people should be complaining to, employees on the floor only can do so much and it isn't fair that they get mistreated the way they do. i've seen a lot of hate spewed at employees and that's not cool. and it's not just this walgreens it's a rippling effect from so many stores closing. it's unfortunate that folks can't see that and have more compassion for our employees, they are people to with real feelings. be kind people! thanks walgreens for always making my visits welcoming! stay strong! read more

Lakeshore store I patronize this Walgreens solely because it's convenient. This store is barely stocked and they cannot blame it on the pandemic. There's one cashier that works in the pharmacy, though I believe he thinks he is being helpful, for me he is totally annoying. The pharmacy text me way too many times and frequently my prescription is not ready when I go to pick it up. Also there is an older cashier that works up front, he's grumpy and complains too much. Good luck with getting someone to help you with items that are locked away. Lakeshore/18th Ave stores What really burns me, is there are marginalized communities that really need a pharmacy yet Walgreens have closed them. But we have two the Lakeshore store and the one on 18th (across from Lucky's) about one mile +/- from each other, neither store is stocked. Why??? You know, those individuals that spend money to purchase your inventory. Right off the bat, customer care specialist was incredibly hostile. Manager on duty was also incredibly hostile. To my understanding I always believed that CUSTOMER service was just that, customer service. Call me old school, but I thought it was really wrong to make the CUSTOMER feel like they have done something wrong. This is the basis of the 1 star. How in the world does a company who's existence is to provide service to the customer turn things around where the customer now feels at fault. This a.m., I walked in: the "security" guard was asleep on his feet; three clerks were in an aisle in the cosmetic department -- two were texting on their cells. When I asked about the store manager --"She's not here." (This manager's never 'there'.) I've had problems with the pharmacy at Walgreens on Lakeshore before, but this was so bad I finally decided to write a review. I've received emails and texts saying my refills are ready, but they're not. I don't think the employees are to blame; they don't send out notifications. More likely IT. This time not only was my refill not ready, but my doc hadn't even been contacted for a refill request. While I was there I met a woman who said this was the 4th time she'd been there to pick up her meds. Another woman said she had received emails/texts saying her refills for 3 prescriptions were ready, only to find out they weren't. Like I said, I'm not sure who is responsible, but it needs to be fixed. I see Amazon Pharmacy in my future. read more

The photo department is so unorganized! I've gone to the photo department about 5 times in the past few months and each experience was horrible. There's no button to call the photo department (all Walgreens photo has this!) so I have to ask the cashiers to call the department and hope they don't get mad at me for asking. Most of the time no one shows up after they call the photo department and when someone is there my photos are never ready on time or they can't find them and I have to ask them to check in the other bins and they usually find them. read more

The worst pharmacy I've ever dealt with. They are unbelievably inefficient with absolutely horrible customer service. It doesn't matter what day or time it is, there will be a line of at least 7 people and each one will stand at the counter for 5-10 minutes minimum as the staff do god knows what in back. They also NEVER answer the phone. I made the mistake of transferring my cat's prescription to this pharmacy because it's so close to my house. Big mistake. They kept saying they didn't have the prescription from the vet but the vet kept saying they sent it. Went back and forth for 2 weeks over this. Finally I called and sat on hold FOREVER and the very same lady who said they didn't have it suddenly says they do. Ok fine. I went to pick it up and literally waited 45 minutes in line (on a Tuesday afternoon!!!). Then I get to the front and there's this huge mix up - they can't find the prescription. I'm like, no you don't understand, you guys said you had it. It's for my cat. So finally the guy looks up my phone number (which he should've just done in the first place). Turns out it's not under my name, it's under my cat's name - except that they put MY last name as HIS first name and HIS first name with the word CAT (yes, all one word) as HIS last name. What on earth? Was I supposed to guess that?? I just called to check on the status of my prescription refill and spent 30 minutes on hold only to hang up. I am so done with this pharmacy. Avoid unless you have a whole lot of free time to waste. Actually, the same goes for the store itself - there's always a long line with one cashier. They desperately need self-checkout at this store. I've been here twice. The pharmacy is poorly stocked that I ended up driving to Berkeley Walgreens to pick up my prescription instead of waiting the pharmacy in this location to get it in 2-3 days. I largely come here for the pharmacy out of convenience (it's right next to Trader Joe's and they have a parking garage) but I always check out their food/snack section because Walgreens is actually one of the better places to buy premium snacks because they put them on clearance like very other week- learned that from Dad. The different flavored salted almonds are clutch and a lot of the times they 2 for one deals or buy one/get one 50% off and I pounce on that ish. Perfect plane food for all the places I'm not going. The pharmacy line is soul crushing about 65% of the time but the pharmacists do their best and overall are as quick as they can given the demand and confusion of insurance coverage and that kind of stuff. The front register staff... eh. Very hit or miss. Mostly miss, but I also mostly check out at the pharmacy when I get my meds so its fine for me. read more
