I'm only reviewing the pharmacy. This is the more inefficient pharmacy. Line are always slow and they never had the medication ready. I wanted to have my meds transferred to CVS and they said I had to go to CVS and have them transfer. However I was told by CVS to inform Walgreens to transfer the meds. Very poorly run. I scheduled a covid vaccine. I received a call saying that they would be on lunch break then and I should instead show up 25 minutes after my appointment. I did that and when I arrived I was told I had to wait in a line of at least 15 people picking up prescriptions!! Such poor organization at this store. read more

Went here to add money on a clipper, at night they always said clipper machine not working, oh well it's working in Walgreens San Carlos, They are just too lazy to do the job. Sad that walgreens is paying employees like that, they don't smile, don't acknowledge you, they will look other way around if they saw you can't find the item and they know you will ask for help. Why all the hate for this store? It isn't the best store ever, but it's clean, big, and I got decent help here. They put an OTC item on hold for me, they actually had it, and I was thrilled that when I got there I was able to buy it. I had to go back to this pharmacy today after my daughters doctor called in a prescription for a medication and specifically requested "NO GENERIC, Brand name only", (some of the products had been recently pulled by FDA, they gave me the drug that had been recalled) yesterday I picked it up and didn't notice until I got home that it wasn't what was phoned in, or what I told them I came to pick up. When I came back to get it, again asking for it by brand name, they hand me a bag and tell me my total, and I notice it's not even close to the medication I came in for! They're sloppy, have poor attitudes and really hate doing their jobs taking it out on the customer. Lots of attitude. Check your bag before you pay! read more

Please don't consult this Asian (probably Korean Male) Pharmacist which is very rude & no help at all. Like he was not acting like Professional Pharmacist. My horrible experience when I need eye drops for dryness of my eyes. Pharmacist don't say anything just told me in aisle 25. I explain him that I've a prescription of Opcon-A & need another eye drops for dryness. I'm worried about conflict about 2 eye drops. Pharmacist don't even answer my question. Pharmacist not even wearing usual uniform of Pharmacist. So I even ask him again if I can talk to the Pharmacist. He said he's the one but don't act like a professional pharmacist. Horrible service . They don't greet you and you can't be a young adult inside there without feeling like your being watched . My boyfriend went inside to grab a drink and an older women at the cash register immediately before even being greeted they instantly told him to take off his back pack & leave it in the front . She said it in a extremely rude tone. What's funny is I saw multiple people inside the store with backpacks or bags but, I'm assuming they told him that only because he's younger (22) and African America . I only give bad reviews when truly deserved. I have tried three times to get a proscription. Each time before going to the pharmacy I received a text message it was ready. Each time, I arrive it's out of stock. And today it's my fault, because I didn't return in time, 5 days after my notification is t enough time? I was out of town and begged them for it before I left. I am now 11 days without a prescription I need daily. Horrible service. Even today I have waited two hours for it to be refilled. I was told one hour I left and came back, they didn't fill it? Now another hour to wait. A total of 8 hours waiting and 11 days to get a very common drug. read more

The pharmacy is comprised of a few employees who don't want to do any work, essentially. Filling prescriptions here is like pulling teeth ...maybe worse. We have dropped off a number of RX's and receive calls that they are rejected, saying that our insurance has not approved them. We are able to call our adjuster directly, who then lets us know that they have receive NO CALLS from Walgreens. The Walgreens pharmacy at this location are lazy and quite frankly, useless. It's easier for them to just call the customer and say the RX is rejected so that the customer does the leg work to have insurance and/or an adjuster have to call Walgreens. DO NOT even bother with place. Waste of time, energy and will undoubtedly raise your blood pressure. read more

Absolutely unprofessional people here the pharmacist played game with me, she told me my medication will be ready I'm 15 minutes, after my dr already sent it more than an hour and half, so I waited 15 minutes as she told me and 30 minutes passed I checked and she said another 15 minutes. I needed two booster shots so I get them at Walgreens since it's the only place my insurance covers. I call 1 week in advance to make sure they have it in stock. A guy picks up and tells me they have it and hangs up. I was a little worried that they will still run out so I call again 1 day before and ask again. The same guy picks up the phone and realized that I was the same person from the week before. This time he takes my name before hanging up. Cool, I should be good for tomorrow. I come in the next day to get my shots. The pharm tech goes to the back to check and tells me that they ran out! I was so shocked and told them I called multiple times about this. He tells the pharmacist, Jenny, about my situation and tells me to stand at her booth. I stand there for 10 minutes as she works on other things. She doesn't bother to give me eye contact or tell me that she'll be with me shortly. Finally she looks at me and tells me that they never received a reservation and there is nothing they can do. Wtf!! I recommend going to the other Walgreens in downtown San Mateo. They are more professional. I called them to see if they can have the vaccines and I drive over there. I don't recommend getting your Covid booster shot here. They schedule appointments for boosters without having any booster vaccines available. I came in for my scheduled appointment and was told they had run out of vaccines. If I had known of this policy, I would have gone elsewhere and gotten my vaccine when I needed it. This pharmacy in San Mateo on El Camino is the worst that I have ever been. Unfortunately the one in Belmont closed down and I had to go to this one. Don't know why they closed the one in Belmont that deserved 5 stars. This one in San Mateo is opposite. I wish I can give negative star! They pharmacy not only delayed processing my refill, also told me it was ready but actually was not. The hours are limited from 9-6, and close between 1:30 to 2 pm. Very often, the lunch hours are beyond 2 pm. In the other words, you basically cannot pick up your prescriptions if you have a regular hours full time job. Not to mention, the staffs in the pharmacy are not friendly. The store is fine but the pharmacy is horrible. I had enough and switched all my prescriptions to CVS. read more

Sharpies, Check! Clearance mascara, Check! Tetanus shot, Check! ... well, sort of. I am but a simple man with some very specific and varied needs when it comes to my Walgreens runs. I really like the dude who's pretty much always on the front register. He's super helpful, cordial, well-spoken and he never makes me feel guilty about not donating to whatever cause the credit swipe thing incessantly asks about. 5-Stars to that dude all the way. The make-up counter check-out is nuts. I think that's the line designated for crazy people based on the interactions I've witnessed there. The pharmacy people are kind of helpful, I guess. They seem pretty squeamish about blood for being people who work in healthcare. His medical advice seemed like overkill, yet his instructions for taking care of the wound myself weren't all that detailed or thorough so I wasn't quite sure what level of priority to assign to my pain. It also kind of made me not trust him when he suggested I at least get a tetanus shot from them if I wasn't going to go to the hospital for stitches. I was all like, no offense, but I didn't just spend upwards of $6 on the knock-off brand Neosporin just to be told I need to buy a tetanus shot, too. Went here to get a vaccination for travel. Booked an appointment and upon arrival, it turns out that they did not carry it. In the front of the store, there are 2 registers and only 1 was open and there was an even longer line of customers. I have always liked this place, the staff are helpful and I have been going there for over 10 years BUT the Pharmacy has gone way down hill. I went in to have a simple prescription renewed, just a tube of ointment and was told it would take 5 to 10 minutes. OK that's not bad, however after 25 minutes I started to get annoyed. At 40 minutes I went to the window asking if something was wrong and why 40 minutes??? The girl just picked up my prescription sitting in a box next to the serving counter and really had no concern. Sure there was a line of people coming and going but still 40 minutes is ridiculous when I was told 5 to 10 minutes, what a waste of my time....time for me to change pharmacies! read more

Felt discriminated against- the pharmacy should not make people feel like they are doing something wrong by dropping off a prescription order. After that, they also claimed that my insurance wasn't pulling anything up in their system which I know is not true as my insurance works at every pharmacy I've ever used. I know that the pharmacy dept is doing the best they can, but I can barely wait for the day when robots can dispense medication and a human being is summoned virtually *only if there is a problem and for medical consultations of course . I had to wait a long time for a medication that they already had - I had to reach out to them about it couple of times. My doctor had approved the medication a while back. Quite frustrating experience. Also, this place has run out of my very basic medication and their alert system is kind of wonky as well. Came in for a flu shot - one person in line, thought this would be a breeze. So now it's been over 45 minutes and I have no idea what's going on as the pharmacist, won't look up from the phone or her counter to tell me. So now I'm giving her the stare down as she's helping yet another customer. She gave me a "wait a moment" sign, finished with another customer then came and told me "it's not right in the system". I was rushed and frustrated at looking for sale items, which always seems to be tightly clustered in lower shelves all over the store. On top of that reading the labels to match the sales sheet was problematical since I have senior vision. I really recommend that sale items be placed in one area or one aisle for easier shopping. Put them where they can be reached-- be rotund friendly! Yes, it would mean relocating quantities on a weekly basis but you will sell more sales items and there will be less customers asking for assistance in searching. Anyhow, an employee named Earl helped me through the ordeal. He was polite, soft-spoken, and knew where to find everything. He even searched the very bottom shelves and found what I needed. Earl really took care of me as a Customer. Without him I would not have found the items that my family member wanted. Thank you very much, Earl! read more

This just happened 20 mins ago. I believe the rude register is still working in the store. I just wanted to buy a hdmi cable line. Unfortunately, it was locked at electronic section. And no one around can help me. I had to wait in line and asked the register to held and unlock it for me. When it's my turn, the young register just called some one for help, and talked to next customer ( no any courtesy words) right away. Since other staff came and started to help customers waited in the photo section and ignore me. It was definitely me asked for help first. Then I had to find manger to help. The manger told me it's for registor who has the key to unlock. She shakes her head and then she just took a small key from the previous young register 's registration. She unlocked the cable line handed to me and went away for her work. The worst thing is the young register also asked me to reenter in the line no matter of what. This is the worst experience I had been with walgreen. The registor is rude and disgusting. One star is for the manger that she helped me to unlock. read more

I came in on a Friday morning at 8:30am to print three 4x6 pictures for my daughter's school project. I submitted the prints through the kiosk but the computer didn't show the pick up time, so I asked the guy behind the photo counter. He said the printing system was down at the time and they didn't know when it'd be back up, so they'd give me a call when the prints were ready. I waited till Sunday evening at around 5pm, still not receiving the call, so I just came in to the store thinking they should be ready by then. My order did show up in their computer system, but after looking all around for about 10 mins, the lady who was helping me looking for the pictures found out my pictures were not even printed. She asked me to wait, she's going to give someone a call, but I told her to forget about it. I am not going to print my pictures there again since they are unreliable. read more

This Walgreens seems okay. Each time I've been here it's clean and organized. It's a big smaller than other Walgreens I've visited, but that's okay as long as they carry what I need. I periodically visit this store and find staff helpful and store clean. Bathrooms are a bit dirty, but not a big deal. I was there today, purchased some batteries, shaving cream and a few other items. They had everything in stock. Not bad for such a small store. Sometimes they are understaffed and it takes time to look for help, but not a deal breaker. Businesses have a hard time hiring and keeping employees. read more

Warner the manager should be fired. I had to add $1.25 to my Translink (now called Clipper) transportation card. Warner, who is the store manager today, told me that Walgreen's could not add value to a Translink card, only to a Clipper card. I told him that was ridiculous, SINCE THEY ARE THE SAME THING JUST WITH DIFFERENT NAMES. He held his ground, firmly, ignorantly. I called Translink aka Clipper customer service. They backed me up. Warner told me he could give me a Clipper card to add the $1.25 to but could not add value to the Translink. I told him that did not make sense. The discussion became more heated when I asked Warner for his name since his name tag said Kristine. I confirmed that he was the manager. I started to walk out, noticed an assistant manager and asked about adding $1.25 to my Translink card. She confirmed that they could not add value to a Translink card only to a Clipper card. I told her that was ridiculous, and that I had just been told by customer service as such. So I got a Clipper Card for $1.25 and was told I needed to call Translink customer service back to have the balance (my monthly CalTrain pass) transferred to my new card. Here's the bottom line: Warner was rude, condescending, and lacking in basic customer service and management skills. He should be fired. The employees have been given bad and incomplete information about the commuter card. If there is ever any question about adding value to a card, Walgreen's employees have their own special help desk to assist them with a transaction. How do I know this and not Walgreen's? Because I picked up the phone again to Translink customer service to complain about the lack of education and discuss transfer & payment options. The Walgreen's employees were completely wrong. I actually had items to purchase from Walgreen's. But Warner's attitude just changed all that. I'll be taking ALL of my dollars to the CVS forever more. WARNER, kharma is a bitch.
