This Walgreens feels very old and dingy, and it's clear the location has been overdue for an update for quite some time. Plus its in Santa Monica, so its automatically a homeless magnet/hangout. Several aisles felt cluttered and disorganized, making it harder than it should be to find basic items. While it works in a pinch if you need something quickly, this is not a location I'd go out of my way to visit thats for sure. read more

This Walgreens has been here forever! And it needs a makeover. The parking lot under the store is dingy and has that horror movie atmosphere and smell like something bad is going to happen after you exit the car... And while you are walking to the store likely you will encounter one of the 100's of Santa Monica crazy street people you will have to navigate around so "heads-up!" The last time when I left the store after dark to get my car parked on Wilshire, there was this guy walking up the block banging on all the store windows yelling something-- I had to keep a close watch as I jumped in my car. The employees here are fine. They always rush me at the register but I try not to take it personally. I had an incident here a few months ago where the pharmacist (who I later learned from the manager was a Temp pharmacist filling in) refused to honor my GoodRx Coupon and yelled at me that these are costing the company too much money. But I don't issue the coupons--the Walgreens corporation contracts with GoodRx to issue the discounts. So when they sent me the email survey about how I liked the service--I told them what happened. The store manager called me right away and said they had a Temp on that day who did not handle the situation correctly so he issued me 2x the coupon discount amount in the form of Walgreens rewards. That was fine. I ended up getting lots of discounted Charmin. In future interactions with the Pharmacy, everything has gone well. I started coming here last year instead of CVS because it's such a jungle at CVS--the followup is bad and they completely lost one of my Rx's and never got back to me to refill it. Much more personal service here at Walgreens. If they had the money to fix up the parking area--make it clean and bright and redo the store and maybe expand the hours--it's a nice place down the block from St. John's Hospital and medical offices where some of the best doctors work. This is a very expensive area to live--all the homes around here cost millions. So they deserve a nice drug store. Hey, if you had 2+ million dollar mortgage payment every month--you would need some drugs to handle that...just the interest alone... read more

Where do I start? It even makes me mad to write this and relive the situation. We ordered a Walgreens Covid home test kit this morning. When it arrived, we read on the box that it had expired 12/21/25. Huh? Are they selling expired stuff? We read that some tests that had "expired" may have been extended, so we called the store to find out. First, we talked to the Manager who hadn't a clue and transferred us to pharmacy. Certainly, they would know. Right? Well, you most likely guessed it. They too hadn't a clue but transferred us to someone who would know. Right? Nope. After being transferred about a dozen times, receiving the same, "I don't know" answer. We even spoke to people at Corp Customer Service, all of whom also didn't know and made no effort to find out. They just transferred us on. After about 45 minutes, we were transferred to a pharmacist somewhere who actually went to the effort to try to answer us, and within about a minute he responded that our test was actually good for an additional 22 months beyond the printed date. Was that hard? Apparently, customer service even at the top thought so. We couldn't believe what we had to go through to find the answer about something so important. We shall never deal with these clowns again. But we do thank the person who actually tried, I think he represented one out of about 15 who did nothing. That represents about 6% of those we talked to. This review is RE Walgreen located @ 1932 Wilshire Blvd Santa Monica, CA 90430 I am a CA attorney making this statement under penalty of perjury. This complaint against pharmacy technician A-Jay(spelling can be wrong). After I confirmed with Insurance my ongoing refill is authorized to pick up on 2/9. I called the store to inform that I am coming. A-Jay called raising voice saying " it is too early .. I gave you 76days why you need now?" It is very common sometimes the system is error. I said " ok calm down" She raised higher " you calm down." Usually insurance authorizes 3 weeks advance prior to 90days supply runs out. Her attitude was extremely rude, unpleasant! She wants to fight with customer. I brought this issue 2 month ago. I thought it was resolved with DM. She is not the right person to bring up. On 2/11 I called insurance again & confirmed that 2/11 is the date going through. I checked with other two Walgreen ( Koreatown & Pico location ). Both pharmacy ran & it went though ..processing. I called this Santa Monica location again to check. The store manager Anthony & Tylor said they ran but it is too early it is 36 days later. It sounded like they NEVER ran. Insurance never says that way. It usually says either it is too early or it gives a date. I checked with insurance that there is NO record of Taylor ran insurance. The reason insurance authorizes in advance is due to large quantity often pharmacy or warehouse don't have medication. No one knows when medication is available. Me because I am disable I go to emergency without medication every day. It is my life time medication. Ajay- the technician said " go to other pharmacy.' I am a CA attorney I have been taking this medication for past 10yrs. None of pharmacy reacted like this. - Ralph, CVS, all other Walgreens. This store think all other pharmacists are idiot. Ajay - pharmacy technician attitude is outrageous! Taylor's untransparency is outrageous! Very inconsiderate! Ignorant! I wasted so much time to work out with them. I am withdrawing the previous 5 star review. On 12/15 I was not able to pick up one of my medication - Preparation H Cooling Gel due to either technician's lack of of experience or system error. They have not fixed until 12/22. When I attempted to pick up from Walgreen located on other locations It was found that the prescription was CLOSED. WHAT is this all about ?? Hellish experience. I called and asked all the questions about printing documents at their store. Got there and all the info was wrong. They told Bluetooth connecting to my phone was the way to upload docs - nope, no cable to plug into their computer just bc and despite the instructions on their screen. No way to plug-in in my computer so could get to docs bc couldn't upload from Dropbox - only files on the device or from Google docs. No internet so have to use hotspot. You can only upload one doc at a time from their website, options don't work, they still have to print from their machines, they only use heavy stock v copy paper - bc they don't do copying hahaha. I reported the guy at the photo center in the store to a girl working the register. Her attitude matched his - he is supposedly the "manager" - 0 personality, 0 help, 100% attitude. Wouldn't answer unless u ask multiple times - said he doesn't know why use heavy stock (despite the lame response from the girl). The only help was from the one Asian woman working there. The machine was so slow to print it took me over an hour to upload the docs and then wait for this guy to print them - kept jamming, running out of paper and snail's pace. I would never, ever go there again. Not worth the price savings as it cost me more to then ship bc the shipping places ran out of time for today, etc. Painful!!!! Shame on them! The Black heavy set lady served me and was just straight out rude. Nasty rude. Even though I was next up in line I got told to get back behind the sign. I made an appointment for a vaccination, arrived on time, used the QR code to check in (received a message that I would be called), after 10 minutes of waiting I finally waited in line to inquire about the appointment and if the appointment/check-in process was working. I asked the pharmacist if any of the medication had an ingredient I'm allergic to and she literally said "what level of anaphylaxis do you have tho" and "how allergic are you"ummmm there are NO levels, there's only DEAD . How does this woman have a job as a pharmacist if she has NO idea what anaphylaxis is or what allergies are. This is a lawsuit waiting to happen due to negligence of overlooking a patient's medical history and she shouldn't be working there. My husband and I went to Walgreens to get a Covid Booster and flu shot. We arrived at our scheduled appointment time. There was a sign at the entrance stating flu shots were free. Upon check-in we were informed our insurance (medicare) wouldn't cover so we would have to pay. The manager did not know how to override the charge. Also, though not the fault of the technician, the check in process took over 1/2 hour. We waited over an hour past our appointment before receiving the shot. VERY INEFFICIENT! read more

This is one of the worst pharmacies I've ever been to. There's a woman pharmacist that works there who is so incredibly rude and short tempered, it's no wonder they can't keep consistent pharmacy employees. Every time I go there is somebody new working the pharmacy counter, and they have no idea what they're doing. The lines aren't usually very long, but I still end up spending an extra 10-20 minutes of waiting. If the line is 3 or more people I just leave because there's no telling how long you'll be standing there, just waiting for rude customer service. My sixth visit to Walgreens Pharmacy in Santa Monica and I can confidently state that I received superior service from the staff at this Pharmacy. I usually go to this Pharmacy in the afternoons, and the longest I had to wait is 10 minutes to submit my prescription. I typically wait for the prescription to be filled and it usually takes about 20 minutes and several times, I only waited 5 minutes. I recognize the same faces for the Pharmacy staff, so it appears that there isn't a high turnover in staffing. I have found the staff to be organized, professional, efficient and they all seem to work well together to fill the prescriptions in a reasonable amount of time. Overall, the staff at this Walgreens Pharmacy is very good. read more

The most incompetent pharmacy I've ever experienced. I'm not one to take the time to write something negative about a business but my experiences with this business has been nothing but horrible. In the span of 3 days I was on hold for over 3 hours combined, given multiple different answers from multiple employees still with no solution. I've been dealing with this particular pharmacy for the last month and can not believe the responses I get from them for any inquiries. They all have the same response, "it's not my fault etc". No accountability, no sense of urgency or genuine concern for handling the matter of medication. They act as if this is the DMV and they have immunity from criticism or accountability.
