I had a ground beef enchilada and chili relleno combination. Many restaurants in the valley are making their rellenos by scrambling their eggs and dipping the chili in the scrambled egg which turns the dish into a rather tough, hard omelet. The right way is to separate the whites from the yolks, beat the whites into a foam, stir the yolks separately, and FOLD the yolk into the foamed whites carefully so the whites are not broken. Then dip the chili into it and fry. This creates the original style chili relleno which has a specific, lighter bite to it. I try rellenos everywhere I go, looking for the original style. This one failed. I'd come back but not for the rellenos. (Sad face...)

Tacos are $2.50 I don't understand why chips are $5 and they aren't even like your traditional Mexican chips or something along those lines. And I'm also a bit of a salsa snob. We stopped in for happy hour for the first time and started with the FREE salsa -- which, apparently, isn't always a given in Boise. It was legitimately some of the best salsa I've ever had. Then we ordered the Grande Nachos with chicken. "Grande" is not false advertising. The portion was enormous, we got completely full, and never even made it to trying anything else. I can count on three fingers the places, out of MANY attempts, where I've found truly great nachos -- and these get the #1 finger. And no, that's not the middle finger. Highly recommend everything we've had so far. We'll definitely be back to work our way through the rest of the menu. So far: winner for sure.

(I am a vegetarian and have tried a lot of veggie burgers; I appreciated that this one was truly made of veggies and beans, rather than fake meat!) My friends enjoyed their tacos and salmon. Just about every time I have eaten there it has been overrun with flies. I get that it is because of keeping the windows open, but the restaurant has given the flys a home because of improper cleaning. Proper use of sanitizer when wiping tables and keeping the place clean would go a long way in keeping the fly population down. I would bet dollars to doughnuts there are fly maggots in their floor drains There were that many flies in the restaurant on our last visit in early September....and the windows were closed.
