I will stand by my 5-star for their street tacos. They are amazing. So, I needed to explore other aspects of the menu. After 2 more meals, I'm pulling back the rest of the menu to 3 stars. Meal of a beef tomal and azada enchalada with beans and rice. The beef tomal was pretty flavorless. The azada in the enchilada was the same used in the street taco, so it was really good. But then generic enchalada sauce, basic refried beans, and rice that was so dry there were crunchies - but not like the good, flavorful, caramelized paella crunchy. Asked the manager if they made the tomals because it was a way different beef flavor, and she insisted "yes." She was very disengaged, but at least I saw someone in the dining room cleaning the tables. Second meal was a pork tomal and lingua enchilada with beans and rice. Pork was better than the beef. There were a couple bites of the lingua that seemed... a little off, like it was old. Same beans, but at least the rice this time wasn't as dehydrated. The person attending the counter seemed to have an attitude and didn't feel like he wanted to be there. Never saw any of the tables wiped off in my 45 minutes there for lunch. So, street tacos - fantastic. Everything else so far, basic Mexican fare. read more

So I'm always on the hunt for some good quesabirria and tacos in general. We've tried tons of taco places, so here's my pros/cons list: Pros: - Had the cheese pull and the perfect amount of cheese (Not overbearing or overflowing) - The birria meat was tender, good quality, and honestly a hefty amount (A++) - The taco shells were solid and not falling apart due to it being over saturated - The asada had pretty good flavor (maybe slightly too much on the lime side though) - The consume was pretty good and was not heavy at all in the cinnamon (we've visited a lot of places that are super heavy on the cinnamon for some reason. It shouldn't be the star of the show in my opinion, but rather a subtle/complimentary note. It was slightly overpowering on the lime side) Cons: - The asada meat quality seemed slightly low grade - The quesabirria was not crunchy in the slightest bit... something I'm always looking for after trying some top notch tacos in Cali - It was missing a little more flavor (I will say that we missed the hot sauce bar, so that could've added that additional flavor that was missing) Would we visit here again? I was in the mood for some quesabirria today so I stopped into Taqueria Las Brazas today. Walked in and nobody was really up front. It did take a minute for someone to come out. When someone did, i was greeted with the most beautiful smile and hello! I appreciate how genuine she was greeting me. I had a couple questions about the menu. She answered them, got my goodies ordered and went on my way to find a table. I must have just missed the rush cause a majority of the tables were dirty. Dirty with food, cups and plates. I found a smaller table and just hung out till my food was ready. For lunch I ordered a carne asada taco, shredded beef taco and a quesabirria taco. At first look these babies were stacked! There was so much meat in eat taco. They were not lacking for sure! I grabbed some fresh lime and green salsa from the sauce bar. I started off with the quesabirria taco. It was hearty with birria meat. It was tender and flavorful! The carne asada taco was topped with fresh onion and cilantro. The meat was savory and abundant! I didn't get a chance to try the shredded beef taco just yet, I was too full. I did enjoy the flavors of the meat but the carne asada was on the dryer side. Adding lime and salsa did help but it was hard to chew. The quesabirria taco shell a a little too soft for me. I would have like a crispier texture to the corn tortilla. It also lacked cheese. There was no cheese pull what so ever. I'm happy that they sell single quesabirria tacos. It was nice to try it out at this joint. My first impression of this place wasn't the best considering the place was dirty. The food was decent but you get a lot of bang for your buck which is nice in today's economy. They have better pricing than most for 3 quesobirria tacos. Under $10. They have beer. Their weekday special is 99 cent tacos from 2 to 6 with a good choice of fillings. Salsa bar. They have menudo every day with hominy (unlike many other places). The menudo is a bit pricey (over $13). Tried the carnitas and adobada. Both good. Super fresh tortillas. Salsa bar has hot to mild salsas. Definitely a good deal during their 99 cent hours. Clean place, good parking, lots of tables. read more

I ordered a wet carnitas burrito meal and he ordered a regular carnitas burrito. Was so nice they had horchata as a refillable option by the soda machine! Honey wanted to know what was roasting behind them. Was Al Pastor, said the nice man behind the counter. We did our order, got our drinks, and I asked the young man for a sample of the Al Pastor. One word: posole. Taqueria Las Brazas is the second restaurant from the family that operates Taqueria La Flama on Boise's Fairview Avenue. That restaurant became a mainstay at a location where Arctic Circle and a burger joint failed miserably. I love the tacos at both locations but I really crave their posole. Pork and hominy in a flavorful broth. Posole typically is a home-cook soup and a lot of restaurants don't serve it. Their version is the best in Boise and compares favorably with the posole served at upscale Amano in Caldwell. Las Brazas has a much smaller dining room, but the building is new and modern. It also lacks the salsa bar that sets La Flama apart, but there's plastic cups of red and green salsa in a small drink refrigerator near the front door. Service is fast and friendly. Las Brazas is closer to our home in Boise's West End, so it's likely to become our go-to spot rather than the Fairview location. read more

So disappointed. We love Mexican food and were very excited to try this place. There were no other cars in the parking lot when we arrived but still wanted to try this new place. We ordered two orders of Mulitas Al pastor and two chiles rellenos. The kids got kids burritos. Out total for the 4 of us came to Just over $50 before tip. I almost cancelled the order when they took the chiles out and threw them in the microwave. I didn't cancel and didn't ask for a refund. It was our choice to eat here, we just won't do it again. The beans taste canned, the rice was crunchy, the marinade for the Al pastor was canned enchilada sauce with canned pineapple. I would've rather had Taco Bell and I hate Taco Bell. read more

Disgusting place. How are they still open? They touched multiple surfaces with visibly soiled gloves then made my food. I placed an order online for a pick up time of 6:25pm. I heard this place was pretty good, so I stopped in today for a bowl of menudo. I learned afterward that you need to request hominy when you order. Mental note for next time. Service was pretty good, although I waited 10m after they served me to get the garnishes, but that isn't too big a deal. The menudo was fantastic, and I'm picky. I usually only like my own, but this was delicious. The fish platter looked amazing, as did the enchiladas. I may have found my favorite Mexican restaurant. 4 out of 5 stars until I visit again and try other dishes. read more
