Tucked away in the Oak Forest area (which is essentially the Heights now) is this charming micro brewery that makes you feel like being in someone's backyard...or front yard depending on which end you're sitting in. I don't know enough about beer to describe their offerings with any level of fairness but the coffee stout I had was really good and well worth the calories. Just a Tip, if you've never been to this area before, the south end of the brewery on Judiway Street is the unassuming end next to all the town homes and kids playing on the street, etc. so if you need to park, you need to go up one street where there is street and paid parking options and you'll see the other bars too. read more

I love grabbing beer flights at Walking Stick! The environment is so peaceful and calm. It's nestled in central Oak Forest area amongst residential homes and bungalows and I just love that vibe. I usually visit during the week day so not a big crowd. I enjoy sitting out on the patio or couch. There's usually a food truck outside for small bites and burgers as well. In addition to beers on tap, they also have this cool concept of in which flavored ice cubes of orange juice and different flavors are placed inside Prosecco, for a refreshing mimosas which I thought was neat. Brewery #388 This was my favorite brewery of the 7 I visited on my past trip to the Houston area. It's a small place but the tap list was large, the atmosphere was relaxing with plants everywhere (bonus points since my girlfriend is a botanophile....that's a big word for lover of plants), and there were hiking pictures everywhere. I got a flight and sat outside. The flight included 6 beers (SCORE!) 4 IPA's, a stout and a hefeweizen but you can get unlimited 4 oz beers. All of them really good Humboldt Hazy being my favorite. It was delicious, hoppy, juicy glass of perfection. The beertenders were very friendly and knowledgeable. They have food trucks that park out front plus there are other eateries down the street. I definitely need to come back to try more drinks ! We came after a work event, and had a hard time getting everyone parked . There was free street parking and some of the closer pots were pay to park. I ended up in a lot that was around $18 which was excessive Other than the parking situation, we had a great time. There's a food truck on site with burgers and hot dogs. They have seating inside, out front , and in back. There was also live music when we were there. I opted for their mocktail with their flavored ice cubes which was delicious, refreshing, and fun. It's dog and kid friendly Overall a good time ! read more

The beer at Walking Stick is still some of my favorite in Houston. I love meeting friends here, especially on Sunday nights since they are open until 10pm. The location is really great and bright during the day time. I love the ambiance and the servers are always super pleasant to be with. Parking nearby is $4 for two hours in the adjacent lot or free in the adjacent neighborhood a short walk away. I've never been bothered with any criminal activity and would feel comfortable walking to my car alone in this area. read more

I've met a friend here for beers a handful of times on sleepy weeknights. (Mondays and Tuesdays) I don't have any reference point for their busier weekends but this place is perfect for a casual beer or two on their outdoor patio area when it's slow. They have a full taproom with all the beer types you'd expect. There's been a food truck out front once or twice so food is possible if you check ahead. Only downside is that parking is annoying in the area. Crow Bar is across the street and they police their parking lot for customer use only. There's $4 lots nearby and limited street parking. FYI Great casual spot for beers, especially when the weather is mild enough to hang outside. read more

Walking Stick Brewing Company is always a great choice when trying to find a relaxed place to enjoy a beer with friends as they have ample seating. The brewery itself is comprised of the indoor section and then a front and back patio. The bar area is split between the front patio and the indoors so you can directly order from either of those areas. There is also live music in the front pretty frequently and it's always nice to enjoy. Inside, they also have board games and some snacks. The beer is good and they also have canned beverages and wine for those who don't love to drink beer. As for food, they usually have a food truck parked out front which is nice and convenient. I do often struggle to find parking but it's worth the visit if you can find a spot! read more

Absolutely loved this spot, I wish I had found it sooner. The beer keeper was a good conversation and the vibe of the room was perfect for sampling beers. I checked out Walking Stick Brewing Company on a week day for a professional event. I've always been a fan of breweries so I was excited to check out a new one. Really my only complaint with Walking Stick is the parking situation. They have an extremely small lot. Extra parking is available at the yoga studio close by but the parking lot is full here. Since the bar is on a one-way street in a residential neighborhood, there aren't a ton of parking spots on the street either. I ended up finding a spot on the street a few minutes away by foot. Like most breweries, Walking Stick has a large patio with plenty of seating. They actually have both a front and back patio. Plus an indoors section. I had two beers and enjoyed them both. They have a nice selection. Service was solid. All in all, I'd return! read more

I live near here and enjoy coming to the brewery for a couple drinks. I am not a beer drinker AT ALL, so what makes this place great is they make their own seltzer and they're both delicious. My favorite is the Hibistrus which is hibiscus and citrus mixed. The also serve wine if you're a wine-o. My husband likes their beer, but other than that I can't add much about it since I don't drink. Really one of the only negatives I have of The Stick is that their drinks are a bit pricey for a brewery. All pours are $8 which I think is a bit higher than average. The vibe is chill and family friendly though the back (maybe it's the front) patio is more of friendly, even having play equipment. It's decorated in a Colorado outdoorsy theme. My main reason for liking Walking Stick is I agree with their philosophies. They're all about creating a safe space for everyone, host lots of events and activities, and on Wednesdays they give away their floral arrangements. Amazing! They even provide snacks (chips) - one per drink, which is helpful to soak up those drinks. The staff has always been wonderful and very kind. This place is absolutely adorable. The vibe is right on target! They also had fresh flowers on all the tables which was such a nice touch, made it smell amazing, and really fit with the outdoorsy theme. We went for Harry Potter trivia by Faye Fearless and it was AWESOME! If you are looking for a really challenging, well made trivia look no further! Dog and kid friendly and food trucks available. Only reason 4/5 stars was that the beers were good, not great. The berry saison and mango IPA were really good. Others stood out less, solid for what they were though. read more

Since we were new to the brewery, we opted for a flight and thought everything was solid and clean. I liked that they had a good variety of types of beers (not just 20 versions of hazy ipa). The saisons were good as was the witbier IPA (which recently won a medal in the TX Craft Brewers Cup). The place has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Very kid and dog-friendly. Saw this place on a Houston Hotspot Instagram and immediately wanted to try it with my bf. The atmosphere was really cute, loved the decor and the drinks were tasty. Staff was friendly and it had an overall good vibe. Food truck on property but we didn't get to try it but the option for food is there which is a plus! The downside for me would be the amount of children everywhere. I don't have kids so it wasn't my cup of tea but they had a play area so it was definitely kid friendly. They had a food truck on site which had some amazing Brussel sprouts , we also got wings, fries and tots . Check them out if you are in the area . Definitely one of my favorite HH spots in Houston now. The atmosphere, vibe, staff and beer are great. It is like an adult haven for relaxation. Walked in and was concerned because the bar was 80% filled with good looking people, dressed fashionably, tattoos & quasi hipstery and it is a brewery....I am a tattooed girl, but when I see that combo I get concerned the vibe could be forced. Not here, everyone talked to everyone and seemed no judgement. Dog friendly to the boot. Open and chill atmosphere with a number of amazing food trucks nearby. Seemed like a lot of regulars enjoying a nice weekday evening. Can't even tell you what type of music it was because the volume was perfect, easy for conversations or sitting by yourself. Inside and outdoor seating was pretty plentiful. Bonus, came on a Wednesday and they have 1/2 price wine and instead of trashing the bouquets on the tables for the week you can take them home for free. I am not a bar swag person, but their marketing person is also doing a great job on the website and their apparel! Gravel parking lot, I had an easy time but heard it gets packed. I LOVED this brewery. I celebrated my birthday here April 24th. 2 great outdoor patios both front and back of the brewery. Very family friendly with a little train for kids to play on. Several long tables if you want to meet friends or have a family gathering. The inside is sooooo pretty! Lovely aesthetic for my ladies who love flowers! When entering inside of walking stick brewery, there are beautiful flowers lining the ceiling and the entire place smells like fresh flowers. It really is breathtaking! There are different food trucks depending on the day and always others to choose from walking distance in the surrounding area. A great brewery to start your night off since there are other surrounding bars that are walking distance. The beers and ciders all meet the floral theme and couldn't find one that I didn't like. Mostly light/ hoppy beers. Would definitely recommend to anyone. One downside is the parking is a headache on a weekend. I parked at the park down the street. The African American bartender lady had an attitude problem today. She was rude and rushing me while I was looking at the menu. We have been there for 2 hours sitting outside. Most businesses would say last call or close your tab before leaving. But no, this lady charged me 20% for gratuity before I can even close out. It was not even 10pm yet. What a B****. We brought my 18 month old niece here. I'm pretty sure she had a better time than all of us. The owners had a toddler sized bouncy house set up outside, and she loved it, along with the wooden train and carrousel.
