At first I was a bit worried about the negative reviews but I have been dying to go to a bathhouse since before the pandemic. This was such a great experience. This is NY, so much diversity and just an overall great experience. This place has a full restaurant and bar with delicious food. When you enter, your temperature is checked and you are required to sign in. We did the day pass, which during the week is $50 and it's sooo worth it. It gives you access to the entire facility which includes a large pool, several hot tubs, sauna and infrared room (this was down at the time) but still overall it was worth it. With admission you receive a towel and slippers. You can rent a rob for $6 at the towel pickup area. The sauna was probably one of the hottest I have been to and what's cool here is that you can add on a services as you spend time throughout the facility. Key point, drink a lot of water prior to visiting, you will sweat every bit of it! Everyone is really welcoming and also guest will tell you the process when entering the sauna. You want to make sure you complete 1-5 rounds, after each round you have an option to take a ice cold shower or drench yourself with a bucket of cold water. Not sure what the benefits are, still researching that but I will say it's extremely stimulating going from one temp to the other. You feel extremely relaxed and just being in that environment helps you unwind. I really liked how there's a ton of space. If you're looking for less people during your visit go during the week, we went on a Friday around lunch and it was pretty busy. The food is so fresh, have the Greek salad, calamari and the mushroom soup. You will not be disappointed. I definitely think I will include this in my self care routine at least once a month and for the price point you can't beat it. I've been to a couple of other spas in the city and usually a day pass will run you around $90 bucks. Keep in mind this is a coed facility so if that's not your ideal space, you may want to explore other places. There is zero nudity at this place which is great, I'm not sure if I could have handled it if it wasn't lol. I will definitely return next month!

First time at a banya, or Russian bath house! Definitely cleaner than the travesty that is Spa Castle though not as clean as Aire. I did bring my own flip flops and beach towel so maybe that helped. Good food (but slow kitchen). People pretty respectful. Didn't see your conventional drunk couples making out in the pool etc., thankfully. There are rooms of varying temperatures. From 50 degrees to 175 degrees. (That's right, 175 degrees.). There's also a normal pool, a jacuzzi, and an ice pool. The 175 degree room was the most memorable. Has multiple tiers where you can sit. The lowest one feels like a normal hot yoga room, the highest one pretty much like you're about to die. There is a possibility to buy a Russian platza massage which is when you lie face down in the hottest area of the hottest room, and someone comes over and brushes your body all over with birch branches/leaves, essentially stirring up even hotter air. I was sitting 3 feet away from a guy getting one and I felt like I was about to spontaneously combust from all the heat they stirred up. Right after the crazy hot room is when all the Russians casually go dunk in the 5' ice pool. I was unfortunately peer pressured into it after everyone else went and clearly lied about how amazing it was. Maybe because jumping into it was a near death experience and you're tricking your body into feeling overjoyed at having actually survived. Also don't wear contacts like I did. They literally froze onto my eyeballs and I had to *peel* them off after I got home. Fun stuff. There is also a steam room that's also hot and smells like Eucalyptus oil, kind of nice. The pool room could be a little cleaner. A little dark and didn't smell that great. My favorite part was the Russian food they had at Matryoshka. Huge menu of items. Portions are pretty decent. We had smoked herring (very good, literally every table ordered this), pickle plate (not bad, came with tomatoes, carrots, tomatillos, pickle, cabbage, and mushrooms.), veal pelmeni, boscht (ok, had to ask for extra sour cream). There's also a bunch of Russian beers, mostly the same brand with different % alcohol content. They even have kombucha, which was tasty but smelled a little funky. I think there were also various juices, packaged Russian snacks that go with drinks, and of course, a few different kinds of infused vodka. What else? There are locker rooms and showers. You get a wristband key for a locker at check in. They also make you put valuable belongings in a locked box at reception, for liability reasons I guess. There's a small area at the front that sells random Russian memorabilia (I heart banya hats, etc.). A lot of people wore the Russian felt hats which are supposed to protect your brain from the crazy heat in the sauna. I guess similar to how Japanese people wear a wet towel on the head in hot springs. You can get a membership which is a 10-pack that comes with a discount from the full price single day.

If you want to get rude service and get robbed this is definitely the place to go. All the employees were rude at all times. My locker was trashed while locked and my stuff was taken out including my wallet through the holes they have cut in the lockers. Nobody is willing to do anything about the situation and the employees just shrug their shoulders. You order food and then they tell you that it already came when it never did. This place will do anything to get all your money out of you, including completely robbing you. Will never go back here again and will not recommend this place to anyone. 1/5/19 You would expect that if an owner sees a review like this, they would apologize for your experience and try to better his business. Instead I get a rude message in reply to my review saying that "you're out of your mind" picture attached. No respect for any of the employees and clearly nobody cares about repeat customers.

Harcho. A bit too much pepper but fine

Ask the Community - Wall Street Bath & Spa

When was this bath house established?

What is up with the retro-Playboy 70's vibe on their homepage background video? I can't tell if the saunas are co-ed or if they have separate men/women saunas a la Korean spas? Is this place sketchy or legit? Amusing vibe that video gives off..🧐

Haha, I haven't seen that video. Regardless the place is legit and all saunas, pool, and hot tub are co-ed. Don't expect much in terms of ass-kissing customer service as the staff is eastern-European/Russian.

I've only tried the float therapy here so far. The float rooms are located in the bottom floor down this very steep staircase, but inside it is nearly completely soundproof (or as soundproof as one can get in the middle of Midtown...). The experience is very relaxing, as you get a huge private room to shower and then float in. The tubs are also really big so you don't feel claustrophobic. I appreciate the amenities as well, like lotion and little packets of Vaseline to cover up cuts. You get plenty of time to shower before and after your appointment so you do not feel rushed at all. Staff is very knowledgeable, courteous, and friendly. They do not try to upsell you on stuff and kind of just leave you to do your own thing, which I really appreciate.

On this one, I can't say I'm convinced it does anything. Sure, the overall space is nice and 'zen'. The salt room itself, very 'pretty' with all the various white/ivory/peach/pink/coral/orange shades of the salt walls. The feeling of salt crystals under your bare feet? Nice. Relaxing chairs to sit in. But at the end of the 30 minute session, did I feel anything special beyond the fact that I just 'relaxed' in a pretty room for 30 minutes? No. Note that the salt room can also hold up to three clients at a time, which means they have the potential to charge up to $87 for three people, for just a 30-minute period. That's $174 per hour for a room that's filled with salt. Where no personal or hands-on service is provided...just clients 'sitting' in a room. I guess they also disperse 'saline aerosol' into the room while you are sitting in there. I'm not exactly sure what that is, or how it's supposed to be beneficial to you but then it begs the question...is it the saline aerosol that benefits you and/or some type of 'energy' that is supposed to come from the salt itself in the room? I don't know...I just have to wonder if this salt room thing is nothing more than an (unproved) trend that they are going to milk for all it's worth, until the next wellness trend comes along. When I first arrived and was eventually directed to the room, even though they knew it was my first time there, I was given no real direction or expectation...just told to go on in the room. (Typically you'd expect some type of introductory language...'we pipe saline aerosol into the room...this provides XYZ, etc'). I also found it odd that at the end of the 30-minute session, the woman working the desk simply came to the room and opened the door without warning. No knock, no 'bell' to let me know the session was over...just her, suddenly opening the door. (Typically at personal service places like that, they would knock on the door first, or ask if it's ok to enter, and especially considering I was in the room all alone, i.e., maybe I was in the middle of taking a weird selfie when she just opened the door?) Maybe next time I'll give the infrared sauna a try and see how that goes...but as for the salt room and just sitting in there, I don't think I'd spend my money on that again. It so happens that at the time, I was starting to feel quite sick with a bad cold. Other reviews here seemed to suggest they felt 'relief' from a cold. I felt no difference in anything, after my salt room session.

The spa floor is on the third floor of the Howard Hotel, and upon entering--you're promptly greeted by the concierge and a super lush and cooling lobby. When you check in with the clerk in the hallway, (who was super nice btw), you have the option to sign some waivers, but I save some time by signing documents on my phone on the way. The whole floor is rather zen, except for the cleaners you can hear outside your room. You're welcomed in by refreshing scents, think Byredo or OUAI. We booked the 1 hour dose for two and were promptly ushered to our private room, which included the infared sauna centered and the adjacent bathroom to it, with high quality hair products (Redken Acidic Line), Peter Thomas Roth skincare products, and a tea tree body wash. Included was a hair dryer, some face masks, and some takeaways provided by some of the sponsors they're currently working with (eye masks, etc). Staff started the timer for an hour and we were left to our own devices in the dim, soothingingly calm lighted room. You are able to play your own music if you connect to the speakers but I thought it was fun to just vibe out to their own chill techno zen-yourself-out music. I loved how the sauna experience came with some cool wet towels and face wipes, as well as a ice cool water canister in the corner to refill as you please. The sauna itself was exceptionally clean and well kept. Since I don't experience this often, I found it most tolerable when I took frequent breaks outside by walking around or just refreshing myself with the towels provided. I was piqued when the staff notified us afterwards that there's a 15% discount when you book your next spa day with them right after your appointment, and that deal can be started anytime you come in. I felt refreshed for the rest of the day, despite being in this heatwave and perusing around LES/Chinatown afterwards (which is usually rather overstimulating and sweat inducing). I'll def be back--the time passes rather slowly, and it felt like one of those little luxuries that set the pace for the rest of the day. Exceptional experience with friendly staff, upscale facility, and affordable cost.

I booked the 90 minute Nuansa classic massage. You know how some places start the clock before you've sat down and finish the massage early (aka you pay for an hour and it's only about 45 minutes)? Well! That's not the case here! I got all 90 minutes of my massage. The massage itself: not to be believed. Lukkana started by saying "time to relax". And boy did I.
