I loved this place! It was so cute inside! The service was excellent! The French onion soup was top notch! The Melty Fontina cheese was super tasty, the accompaniments were okay. My prosciutto wrapped cod in corn chowder was excellent! They carry Harney and Sons teas which is great! Unfortunately neither of our tea services were served with cream and sugar/honey. I wish I could say nice things about the desserts but unfortunately I can't. Neither of them were good. The crust on the coconut custard pie tasted bitter and burnt even though it wasn't burnt. Just not sure what happened there, unless the crisco to make the crust was old? The lemon tart didn't taste like anything really, definitely not lemon. It was buried in powdered sugar so it just tasted like a mouthful of sugar. It did come with the tiniest little dollop of whipped cream. I definitely wish there was a healthier portion of that because that and the fresh berries on the side were the best parts.

WOW! The food here is top-top notch. I've been here 3 times now, and have left every time very happy with my experience. I got to know the owner, Rachel, she is an incredible chef and knows what she's doing. The decor is spot on, and the usage of the space is super creative and intelligent! My favorites so far are: - The French onion soup: it is a REAL French onion with a real brown beef stock. None of this Sysco beef base BS. - Crab Cakes special: 10/10. Every thing is perfectly seasoned, well balanced and she makes sure to give a generous portion of high quality crab. - CARROT CAKE! Get the carrot cake if you're there. 10 out of 10!! Keep up the great work!!

I stopped in for lunch over in Greenwich, New York at Juniper today. I was so delighted and surprised at the Adorableness of this restaurant, the excellent food choices and how good everything was. The owner had just brewed iced tea which in itself was very good. I had it was like a quinoa bowl and it was very very good. But I have to say I brought home from there the best carrot cake I've ever had. I highly recommend you try this place for lunch. I'll probably go back for dinner this week.

Unfortunately, after sampling a good mix, I could not find a single brew that pleased my palate. I got a flight with a sour, the red ale, a brown ale, and a stout. Nothing distinguished itself to me. That will happen sometime, everyone has different tastes. But based on the fact that this place was constantly full the entire time I was there, and the service everyone received, the beers and the taproom are quite popular. So it's definitely worth checking out. Perhaps if I visit again I'll find beer(s) more to my liking.

The facility is quite small as a bar area where you could sit three or four people and a couple of tables that each could host about four people per table- no more than 16 or 18 seats in the facility. They don't have food, but they will give you pretzels and peanuts on the house which is a nice touch considering there isn't another brewery in the region that does this. Beer is very good no complaints. We tried their stout and one of their clear IPA's, and they were both great. Looking forward to our return.

Last night we found out why. Wallie's is located in Greenwich (NY - pronounced GREEN-wich) which is just over the Hudson from Schuylerville and about 20 minutes from Saratoga Springs. Well worth the drive. I was told that the restaurant has been around a long time (one of our friends used to go there with his parents as a youngster), but was closed for many years. The current owners did a fabulous renovation job! It's well beyond tavern quality. If they upgraded the seating to plush chairs, you would think you walked into a five-star dining establishment. Our food and beverages did not disappoint. My hubs and I ordered Whiskey Sours which were truly authentic. I'm a martini gal and hadn't had one in years - it was delicious. We shared the Calamari appetizer which was perfectly fried, crispy and not greasy, and the perfect size portion for two. It was accompanied with a thick marinara. We thoroughly enjoyed their house special, Prime Rib (offered in 10 or 14 ounce portions), which was cooked to perfection (rare). The beef was offered with horseradish or horseradish cream (or both!). The mixed vegetables that accompanied the meat were fresh and not overcooked. There was also a baked potato. We were too full to sample dessert. Next time! Our server was accommodating and the timing of delivery of our food was a bit slow (there were only two other tables with patrons) but we were not in a hurry so we didn't mind. Wallie's was a superb find. You won't find better prime rib anywhere. Their menu is limited but they cover all the bases. Items are reasonably priced. I do hope they expand their offerings - or add specials (which they didn't have last night) - to get locals and other regulars to dine there more often. Having said that, it's the prime rib that draws our friends to this place (a 15-20 minute drive from Stillwater). Wallie's bar area is charming. Warm and cozy with bar and table seating. They also have off-street parking. This place is a winner!

If you're going to open the first brewery in a town that has been dry for almost 100 years (in case…read moreyou were wondering why Argyle Brewing is one town over...) you'd better do it right. And this place does it more than right. Opening in November shortly after the ordinance allowing alcohol sales in the town, Highlander brews excellent beers served in a lovely setting. Billing themselves as a "farm to pint" brewery, Highlander is situated on a beautiful, sprawling farm, where they grow their own hops and barley (used in their own products as well as to produce malt for themselves and to sell to other local brewers). While they have a cool indoor taproom, the current Covid restrictions naturally mean that outdoor seating with food options are the current setting, which only allows you to enjoy their excellent beer with a lovely outdoor view. I tried the Fir Baby, a hazy ale with that might be a great option for people who dislike the overpowering hophead IPAs--the beer featured the unique touch of fir tips from farm Christmas trees in lieu of/to supplement traditional hops, creating an interesting flavor profile. The other beer I tried was simply excellent, a Brown Maple Ale. Now I love brown ales and I love maple syrup, but offerings like this always make me a little nervous, as I fear they inevitably turn out too sweet. Not this, which had a wonderful beer flavor with just that slight maple hint at the end--according to the brewer, the maple is added in fermentation and not after. At any rate, it was subtle and wonderfully done. My friend tried the Blonde Ale and the Strawberry Rhubarb Blonde and enjoyed them both. Diverse beer offerings (a couple of IPAs on the menu as well), all reasonably priced and most in the 5-6.5% ABV range. Would have liked to try a stout, but they said they usually feature those more in the winter than the summer, which is understandable. The food truck was a nice touch--if it's not just a Covid tack-on, I think it would be a great idea to keep. Having a few options (such as the tasty mozzarella sticks) to try with the beer was a nice touch, and probably kept us there a bit longer. Staff was friendly--our server Nicole was great and knowledgeable about the beers, and as mentioned, one of the owners, Jeff, swung by to ask how we were enjoying everything and discuss the beers and ingredients with us. Also as mentioned, a very lovely setting to enjoy a beer. A bit tough to get to/off the main road, but the trip--and the beer--is certainly worth it.

We stumbled in for a late bite on a quiet winter carnival weekend and there were only a handful of patrons, mostly locals sitting at the bar. The bartender (and our server) Edward was friendly and kept an eye on us and made sure we had what we needed. The food is solidly average pub fare, not bad and perfectly serviceable, but it shouldn't be your primary objective if you're a foodie hunter like me. But on a main drag littered mostly with mediocre bar-restaurants charging tourist prices for tourist indifference, I'll take "just fine" as a win. I'm not much of a drinker but my husband liked his can of Copper Legend lager so much that he ordered another one to go. The location is conveniently central especially if you're staying on Canada St. or doing activities at the lake.
