Sam's is in a small plaza set back from the street. Inside you find a nice casual pizza place, as you come in you have the pizza kitchen with the large wood fired pizza oven. You can order slices or whole pies, they also have salads, wings and a couple of sandwiches. We ordered a large mushroom pizza and grabbed a table by the small bar area. The bar has beer and wine, they offer a very nice selection of local brews. After settling in the pizza showed up quickly. Sam's pizzas are thin crust, nicely cheesy and have a good basic tomato sauce. The pizza are very good with a nice balance between the yeasty crust, the pungent cheese and the slightly sweet sauce. The mushrooms were a nice touch to add some extra umami to the pie. The pizza was well cooked, although I would usually like it a bit more well done. On the table is garlic powder, hot pepper, oregano, grated cheese and even some hot honey, so you can modify your pizza to your taste. The large pie made a nice dinner split between the two of us, we each got 4 good sized slices. Sam's is a great casual pizza joint, the atmosphere is relaxed, service is quick and we even had some very good live music to compliment our meal. If you are looking to get some good pizza and some beers you can't go wrong by heading to Sam's Wood Fire Pizza.

Just the way we like it. The lady who took my order was very pleasant. They have tables and a few locals eating by the bar. The owner was very nice as well. I thought that was overpriced, especially after we recieved our food an hour later (no joke)! The pizza is mediocre and the service horrible. I cannot eat gluten and ordered a cauliflower crust. Apparently, they prepared both our pizzas with traditional crusts, so they had to remake mine. After waiting 45 minutes for the pizzas, I finally got up to ask when we were getting our food. They told me the mistake, but only because I approached them. We literally waited an hour for pizza that I wouldn't wait any time for given its quality. The sauce was not good, my toppings were basially raw vegetables on top of the pizza and the cheese just ok. As for service no one told us about the delay and no one tried to make it right by offering to refund of our money, offering us a drink, anything!!! Not a single thing including a sincere apology. The restaurant was freezing. So we sat there for an hour very uncomfortable with our feet freezing as we wore our jackets to keep warm. They bathroom was not clean. Avoid this place for sure. TERRIBLE service, TERRIBLE ambiance and mediocre food.

I'll admit that living near Trenton has made me a little spoiled when it comes to pizza, but even with that in mind, this was not great by any stretch of the national imagination. The main appeal was convenience. Giuseppe's was only a few steps from our hotel, and the idea of eating pizza on the balcony overlooking the lake at sunset sounded too good to pass up. The order was ready quickly, less than thirty minutes, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, despite asking for utensils and plates both on the phone and again in person, they forgot them entirely. A short walk back to the shop solved the problem, and to their credit, the staff handed them over without any fuss. The pizza itself was the kind of food that serves a purpose but not a memory. The crust was too thick and doughy, the sauce had very little character, and the cheese existed mostly to keep everything from falling apart. It was utility-grade food sold at premium tourist-town prices. We knew we were paying that tax going in, but even so, it felt steep for what we got. Still, it did the job. Our family had a meal, the sunset over the lake was beautiful, and we went from phone call to first bite in under forty minutes on a Saturday night. For that, I'll give some credit. But for the pizza itself, there's not much to recommend. Three stars for speed and convenience, not for flavor.

Counter service inside with takeout and deliver options. Visiting Bennington for the first time. While this isn't your standard NY style, I really enjoyed the crispy and airy crust. Sauce is a straightforward, basic tomato sauce, but toppings are of good quality and tasty. What we ordered: - small Greek salad w/ creamy Greek dressing: (4) Quite tasty. The feta made the salad. I wish the olives were pitted. I didn't realize they weren't until I bit into one. Oops. - 10" cheese: (4) pretty simple pizza. The misses liked it and she is a fan of simple cheese pizzas. - 10" the whole shebang (4.25): I am a fan of the crust and the toppings were perfect. Could have split this, but me and the misses like different pizzas. Some seating inside and a lot of outdoor seating when the weather cooperates. Ambiance gave us the pizza parlor vibe.

On a Monday they were doing takeout only (no indoor seating). My slice was really heavy on the garlic, which I really like, but isn't for everyone. I would've liked more gluten, and the thick cheese had nowhere to go, flavor-wise, after the first few bites. Unlike many other places downtown in Bennington, they're actually open Mondays, which helps!
