Horrible customer service. No organization, unprofessional, racist and all about their influencers and social media presence. My son had an appointment for July 27th at 5:00pm. We arrived at 4:30pm , had an issue checking in. At 5:00pm Dr.La comes out and I'm under the impression that she's going to take my son in the back to get his cleaning done. She tells me that my appointment was canceled because they are closing up early due to the person who was supposed to do his cleaning leaving early. I received several text messages from Wally the morning of our appointment confirming, saying they can't wait to see us, and ensuring that my son comes with a parent/guardian since he is a minor. I explained to her that this was inconsiderate, unprofessional and unacceptable. I expressed to her that I just had knee surgery last week and I took a car service all the way here with my young baby girl and my son. She just replied "I'll have our manager Jake" contact you. When I walked to the back to inform them that I haven't received a call from Jake , I noticed someone getting a cleaning in the chair , it was a woman of a different race than I. I said to a gentleman standing there "excuse me I thought you guys were closed up for the day how are you still performing cleanings" he responded "I'm with a patient right now can I talk to you after" when he comes out the lady is walking with him, she seemed to be an influencer of some sort because she was shooting visuals of the we work space. As the gentleman by the name of Adam comes out to talk to me he's pulling up his computer in communication with Jake who is the head of operations. Jake finally calls me and has no compassion about me having surgery coming all the way downtown Brooklyn for a cleaning and finding out my son appointment was canceled. When I asked for them to reimburse my carfare or pay for my car service back home he told me they couldn't do that and was adamant about giving me an extension on my membership. I expressed to him due to the way Wally does business I am not interested in extending a membership. They do not care about their customers, no compassion and it seems that they only want to give customer service to influencers to put on an image like they are so vibrant and easy to book. When in realty it's all AI , no one in customer service to speak with and the unlimited cleaning you can only book once every other month if you're lucky enough to get an appointment. Some locations are racist and show respect and acknowledgement to caucasian clients. Wally health needs to do better. Today was totally unacceptable . This encounter was at the 195 Montague Street location. I have also attached screenshots below.

You get to look at all the other patients while getting your teeth cleaned!

What a dump... 1) I went in for a cleaning today and it took 9 minutes (I timed it) 2) They rearranged the office so you're facing all the other patients while they are getting procedures done - so weird and uncomfortable - absolutely no privacy. I literally watched the staff eating their lunch across from me 3) the staff is entirely different every time I come - I've asked multiple how long they've been in the field for and they have all replied with it being their first job 4) i have used the service every 3 months (they won't let you book sooner than that, so you're going to max get 3-4 cleanings a year) and went to my actual dentist where I was informed that my gums were inflamed from inappropriate cleanings (note that they only use an ultrasonic cleaner and never scrape tartar - my teeth never feel clean when leaving).

it's a screenshot showing how they canceling all the time

When we started going to Lumia dental, we were extremely pleased with how friendly and competent…read morethey were. It was an added bonus that this was a female owned and run company (of which alas they are still way too few nowadays). Their patient care is excellent and as far as any dental work is concerned, I would highly recommend them. However, as their business grew and expanded, I was starting to worry about what this would mean for their patients. My worries did eventually come true: from a patient based practice, it turned more into a corporate business, and with it, the desire/need for higher profits. As a result, they decided to no longer accept our insurance (Guardian dental, a major dental insurance company) because, according to them, their low fee schedule did not allow them to provide the best care for their patients. Now, that latter is just rethoric, for they were doing an excellent job. Why would that need to stop? No, it was because Guardians fee schedule did not make them enough profit. The way it works is as follows: a dental practice can determine its own fees for various procedures. An insurance company, through collective bargaining, can then negotiate for a reduced schedule for their clients (depending on the local competition). So, accepting an insurance first and foremost means to agree to the collectively bargained fees. While getting less profit, it means a much larger potential client base. This is the power of collective bargaining (which would be so much more effective if health care in the US would be universal, like it is in many other countries and, as a result, also much affordable). For Lumia, however, loyalty to their patients was not deemed as important as getting more profit (perhaps because of the increased costs of having expanded the business) and so they dropped Guardian as one of the accepted insurances. To give one example: our insurance pays the full fee for a cleaning every 4 months. However, they now raised their fee for a cleaning, making us having to pay more than $100 for something that was previously free. And you can guess that with more involved procedures, the out-of-pocket costs gets up even higher. That is why we had to leave Lumia as clients---essentially being pushed out as not being affluent enough clients that do not mind paying much more than they used to---and we now found an equally competent dental clinic in the neighborhood which does accept our insurance. I can only assume that we will not be the only patients leaving the practice, and in the long run, this might seriously damage Lumia (unless they can find enough wealthy clients in the downtown area).

There was a dental assistant who took all my x-rays and if it is your first time, there is a lot! She was very nice and understanding and informed me that if I needed a break from the x-rays to let her know. After the x-rays, I was seen by Dr. Song. Dr. Song was amazing! He performed a gum analysis, oral and neck cancer screening that was touching the inside and outside of my mouth and the sides of my neck, and the tongue. Such thorough examinations for the first visit and worth the time for the examination and cleaning. Love that they gave goggles for me to wear because water always splatters for cleaning. Overall, an amazing experience and look forward to my future visits for my bi-annual cleanings.

Tribeca Dental Design outlined positive reviews and making an appointment a month or so ago was headache free. My appointment was yesterday and the staff was cordial upon my arrival. There was paperwork, more than I expected or experienced but it was fine. Minutes later, I was called to the room for full set of xrays--bite wing and a panoramic view (sophisticated xray equipment with images taken while standing up). Took all of 2 minutes. My observation regarding space/rooms was mixed. There were several rooms but they weren't proper rooms with walls and a door. Their rooms were more open and easy to hear conversations and drilling separated by low partitions. My hygienist was unavailable so my new dentist was both hygienist and dental professional. She did an excellent cleaning job and checked in with me along the way to ensure I was doing okay. I felt she was knowledgeable and made recommendations without being pushy. Only thing is that I expected the oral cancer screening to be more thorough. In the past, I've had dentists who checked all around my tongue and underside while examining my neck area. Not this time to my dismay. Overall, my opinion was favorable and I would recommend this practice. Satisfied.

When I called my insurance on why the services weren't covered, my insurance said the dentist did exams that were above the normal amount they were supposed to do for annual exams.
