As a 50 year Yucaipa resident I like to support local businesses and am willing to pay smaller business overheads, included in their price quotes, in exchange for better service and expertise. I had carpeting removed and wood flooring installed, that was glued directly onto my homes wooden subfloor.The result was a space 1/4 inch lower than my existing tile. Two days later I was told that under board (that comes in many thicknesses) could have been laid on top of the subfloor to remediate the depth difference. Why wasn't this part of my original quote? I did voice concerns of height differences during my measurement/estimate time with the salesperson. From beginning to the end. They where absolutely amazing. I like to do business with local companies when it is possible. I had a big company quote me an insane amount of money ($2300) to do carpet in my living room and bedroom. Wally's gave me a quote less than a thousand. I jumped on it!!!! I am extremely happy with them from my first meeting to the Installation. They were polite and curteous, friendly and efficient. One piece in my living room and bedroom they even did a small pantry and hall closet. Amazing!!!!! People like to forget our local business with "Big" box companies names. Tom is an incredible human being. We had a flood which ruined our carpets in two rooms, a hallway, and a walk-in closet. I called 8 carpet places. Six of my calls went to voicemail and only two answered. Home Depot had a minimum 10 business day wait period for carpet installation. But Tom took my call. After I told him that we could not sleep in the bedrooms, he said that this situation was his priority. He offered to take a short lunch and immediately drive one hour to my location. He also called a local place near my house to expedite the delivery of the carpet. This place has been in business since 1954. I now know why. There is no substitute for people like Tom who take pride in what they do. In a world where customer service is hard to come by, it's an unexpected surprise to know there are businesses and people like Tom who truly go out of their way to make your emergency their emergency. Ultimately, I was trumped by one of the co-owners who chose to go with hardwood floor at the last minute. I am sure Tom was already on his one-hour trip to my place. It broke my heart that he cut his lunch short for a sale that wasn't made. I'm hoping that this review will give them the business they deserve and put you in contact with a business that you deserve to do business with. P.S.: I'm a litigation attorney, so I'm very skeptical of companies I am unfamiliar with. I'm stingy with giving great reviews, but this company deserves it and more. read more

This review is for Wally's in Yuciapa. I loved the install of my carpet/waterproof Laminate and backsplash. Carpet is like walking on a cloud. Compared to others in area who needed two wks the finished 5bd, fam (crpt) & livg/hallwy (lamnt) & kitchn (backsplsh) in 5dys. David from Wally's in Yucaipa did my measurements (free) and listen to what I wanted and assured me it was possible to do in one week. In the Yuciapa location they wore masks. Wallys carry a range of products to fit everyone's price needs. Wally's installers did an excellent job. I wore a mask but installers did not refund: I was never in a room where they were working or was more than 6ft passing through. They were polite, patient, helpful. professional, and knowledgeable. The items moved was placed back in the same place and both installers cleaned up after themselves. Santiago (speed Gonzalez as he call himself) and son installed the carpet and Laminate they were fast and did an exceptional job. Only hiccup: No one was scheduled someone to do the backsplash but the Boss found someone to complete the backsplash job. Wally's contracted to do a six day job but did it five. FYI: Confirm dates and person doing the job to make sure it's within your timeframe. I can't say enough about the work that was done. I am truly very happy with my backsplash, carpet and waterproof laminate that Wiley's installed. Yes I would recommend them if you want to job done right. read more

First, an important disclosure: I hired Wally's to install product that they don't sell. It was from LL. This install was done about 6 months ago. I wanted to live with it for a bit before giving a final review. Notes About the Photos: Remember. We've been with these for 6 months. Scuffs on the risers were not from the installation. I have added some small bits of trim where there was previously trim when we had carpet as a temporary thing until I can get to the stringers. The Job: Our stairs and the living room at the bottom of the stairs. The stairs consisted of using the vinyl planks on the treads with a bullnose cap and simple unprimed MDF risers. I provided all materials. The Good: The two installers were fantastic people. Very nice, very concerned about quality, and fast. All in, a day and a half. On the stairs, they did well at getting the edge of all materials very close to the wall. This was all good because I told them that I was going to be installing a stringer after the install. That said, they still got it close enough for me to be able to temporarily caulk and paint the walls until I can get to the stringer which based on my instructions to them, was a bonus. The living room was also done very very well. Nice straight edges that line up all the way around with an appropriate movement/expansion gap. Plenty of coverage for me to lay baseboards. Also, they maintained a clean and safe work environment. We were able to safely walk around the areas with our kids (we didn't, but we could have) if needed. Lastly, it all simply passes the eye test. It looks nice and is mostly ready for my final finishings. The Concerns: While the stairs look nice, I am concerned that the method used to install the bullnose has led to some quality issues when stepping on the steps. A number of the bullnoses creak when we go up the stairs. For me, I am a size 12.5 shoe, there is no avoiding a little stepping on the noses. As far as my limited DIY experience and research goes, vinyl planks and their relative bullnose caps should be installed to where the planks sit on the tread and then the bullnose gets overlaid on top of those planks. So, that would yield a small lip where the cap ends on top of the plank. These installers butted that lip up to the edge of the tread. (Photos provided shows the top step with that overlay and then the rest of them where the surface of the cap is flush with the tread). So, visually, this looks great and it's nice to not feel a lip on each step. But, as I mentioned, I do not believe there was good adhesive coverage on every cap. It sounds/feels like ever-so-slightly, the edge of the cap rubs against the edge of the vinyl plank making it "creak." So, it feels/sounds more like we are going up stairs that are in a 100 year old home where they haven't refinished or have done much maintenance on the stairs. I did bring up this issue to our liaison from Wally's and he did come out the next moment he could to inspect the problem. I demonstrated it, but, he said that, that is just basically something that comes with the materials and he didn't feel that any adjustments in the installation could have avoided it. That's really the only concern. Now, I haven't had any other professionals come out to inspect and give me their opinion. That is why I am giving 4 stars and not 3 or 5. Lastly, they had to split the riser for the bottom most step because of how the bottom rail and newel posts were situated. He used a 45 (give or take) for that seam which was fine, but, it didn't/doesn't meet up well. There's a noticeable seam where it got close to 1/8' side and then the edges themselves aren't flush. I have since sanded and filled it. In Retrospect: I think we would have preferred having the cap overlay the treads to avoid this creak. I appreciate the visual aesthetic, but, every time I hear the sound when I am stepping on it, I do not get the feeling that I purchased a higher quality product (which I did) and paid a decent premium for it's install (which I did). I feel like it's a cheap step or a cheap install, which again, it isn't. Would I Recommend? Yes and no. Yes, I recommend the company and until I have respected, professional installers tell me otherwise on this install, I have no reason to not to. No in that I would recommend this method of installation. The installer did tell us prior to the install how they were going to do it. I didn't think to ask if it would make any sounds as I just wanted to make sure they wouldn't come undone. If this method is the only one they will do, then I do not recommend them for stairs. And, again, circling back to where I started, we were using a Lumber Liquidators product. I don't know if this would have been different had we gone with one of Wally's products. Update: When Wally's Carpet & Tile say they are committed to customer satisfaction, they are telling the truth! My LVP floors were originally installed Nov. 2022, and while I was happy with the purchase and installation, I began to notice there were some problems with the materials that were installed. There appeared to be some textural and performance issues with the materials that were visible and made the flooring hard to clean. I reached out to Tom and he responded immediately to my concerns. As things progressed and the manufacturer of the flooring got involved and came to my home to see the materials, Tom, Chris, and Chris (owner) came out to my home as well. Wally's was with me every step of the way and advocated for me with the manufacturer. This process took several months and Wally's kept me informed as to what was going on with the manufacturer and the timeline of things. It was very evident to me that Wally's cared that there was a problem with the materials and wanted me to be happy with the flooring I purchased from them. I am happy to report that the manufacturer did agree to replace all of the flooring in my home thanks to the advocating Wally's did on my behalf. As of yesterday, my home has beautiful flooring that looks and performs as expected. Once again, Santiago and his son installed my floors flawlessly. It's not very often that a company will show care for a customer after the job is done and money has changed hands.
