This is a formidable institution dedicated to wine and spirits, but oh, the wines... I remember the original store in Westwood, which always stocked excellent bottles from around the world. When they opened this place I was in heaven. We've been a few times now, and what's great is you can buy wines and drinks by the glass, plus order some food, including impressive charcuterie. They also host events, tastings, etc. Or maybe you just crave some top of the line caviar? We recently went on New Year's Eve and I had a very good Negroni, while my spouse had an excellent red-- and we had a delicious charcuterie board. Bring your wallet, cuz you'll want to spend some dough on their wonderful selections. Come... it's a wine lovers paradise.

I'll be honest, it wasn't the best experience. The hosts made us wait with no acknowledgement when we first walked in - not a great first impression. We had a reservation (for my husband's birthday) and they sat us at a community table while open 4 tops sat next to us. The food came out before our drinks. Overall, poor service and mediocre food was not worth the hefty price tag.

Very atmospheric and beautiful place, no questions about food and drinks, they are amazing, thank you! But... We reserved a table for 4, two of us came on time, two were late, but the hostess refused to show us to the table and told us to wait outside until all the guests arrived. We were very surprised, but she said that they have such a rule. Strange, but we have been here before and there was no such rule, always one of the guests is late. Just keep this in mind, and next time we will choose a place where there are no such rules

We spent the day in Santa Monica. While doing some shopping we came across Wally's which we had heard so much about this place so we went inside for a couple drinks. I was impressed on the large selection of Domestic and Foreign Wines they carry. Im sure anyone that comes here will find a Wine to enjoy. Since we had plans to eat elsewhere we ordered some appetizers served fresh. A glass of wine I could not pronounce, sorry. Overall service was good atmosphere was open inviting and well decorated. Service was good.

This place is really a nice option for a quick business meeting/hangout if a lunch or dinner meeting isn't an option because of time constraints. There's a great selection of wines , a very nice atmosphere that's paired with both a knowledgeable and friendly staff. Worth a checkout if you in the area.

it's a beautiful place just like feeling to go into Napa Valley. Good music, good food and the best wines ever I want to say a big thank you to Elias. Thank you so much. We enjoy our evening.

My husband and I have purchased online in the past, but it was great to be able to walk into a store. They have their own private lot (or you can opt for street parking if it is available). They had a sign up advertising their tasting events, and we miraculously walked into a Cazcanes tasting (the tail end of it). The staff greeted us warmly and we passed quite a bit of wine and went to the bar/area reserved for tastings. They were getting ready to wrap it up, but were able to accommodate us for a few last minute tastes. They had the Blanco, Repo, Anejo, and recently released Joven. The representative gave us a brief overview of the brand and let us take some stickers and information cards. They really knew their stuff and were welcoming any and all feedback and questions. I was bummed because I liked the Joven and they were already sold out at this spot. We later ended up at another location to purchase this bottle. After the tasting we toured the store and looked at their collections of spirits--whiskey, vodka, tequila, gin, etc. And also perused the wines. I only wish that I had more time to look at their selection. I already know that if we had any inquiries, the staff would've been glad to help us out. I will make sure to stop in again if I'm in the area since this spot was well organized, had friendly staff, and were eager to assist with any comments or questions or concerns.

The people that work here have always been great too. It's been a while since my last visit, but I've been coming here for years. I've really only bought craft beer from here; maybe a bottle of whiskey or two. But the wine wall looks pretty stacked, including a lot of the natural wine, which seems to be pretty popular these days. Their craft beer selection even includes rarities that you don't usually see in the area, e.g. some beer I bought on this visit from Trillium located in Boston. There's also a counter where you can order a limited amount of drinks they have at any given time. The menu is located above the counter area. And on Friday nights I think they have food vendors that rotate. They even have a limited amount of grocery items for sale, but I always get distracted with the whiskey and beer - I look past the food items except for the doggy biscuits I bought for my friend this time. Definitely a great shop and a great spot for that stretch of Washington Boulevard.

I wont shop where there's a pitiful lack of customer service. I put everything back and left.

LA Distilling is one of the few places that has whiskeys and apparently makes them on site and The Whiskey Store is their retail front. Google maps will take you to their warehouse area, pull into the parking spot but keep going. The storefront is a little bit off center from the distillery. I went on a weekday so it was quiet, like in an eerie way. The front door was locked and I ended up going around back through their warehouse. That's where I ran into someone finally who told me to go around back, no just follow him. Their showroom is nice-in need of a little dusting but nice. I asked what was good or popular and he said everything was, not super helpful so I ended up buying two bottles of their bourbon. I got to try it after I presented it to my friend-it was ok. The charcuterie boards here are perfection, do not sleep on it and be sure to savor the onion jam. That said, one of my favorite things to get is the roasted root vegetable plate, that combo with the yogurt and honey is some fine dining action, though you should absolutely skip adding the sausage. Getting a flight is usually the way I go, but then I often end up getting a full glass of my favorite from there. Such a gem in DTC and I hope it stays forever!

This is a great place for after work happy hour in a casual ambiance. I came here for birthday…read moredrinks with my family before we headed to dinner nearby. The location has a spacious area filled with a variety of wine options. I picked a Bourgogne Chardonnay from France ($36). We came on a late Monday afternoon and, lucky for us, they have a bar special on Mondays: No corkage fee! They also have Happy Hour-- Monday to Friday from 3-6pm. The Chardonnay was divine! I would totally return and purchase another bottle. We also ordered a charcuterie board and took advantage of their happy hour special for $20 (pick two-- one cheese and one meat). We opted for the 'Humboldt Fog' Chèvre as our cheese option and the Bresaola for our meat option. Both were delicious, but the chèvre was truly exquisite. We shared one charcuterie board with five people and it was enough; however if you're on the hungry side, I suggest two charcuterie boards for five or six people. In addition to meat and cheese, it comes with crackers, some pickled veggies, onion jam, candied nuts, whole grain Dijon, and apple slices. On the left side of the venue you have your variety of wine options; on the right side, there's the bar and some tables, plus a small area with other snacks for purchase that pair nicely with wine or beer. They even sell the Torres truffle chips! My only complaint is the service, unfortunately. The lady at the cashier was super friendly, however the bar tender was not so welcoming. When he came over to our table to open our wine bottle, he didn't greet us, smile, or say anything. He took our bottle and opened it and then asked who was going to taste. Not sure if he thought we didn't speak English since we were speaking another language when he came to our table, but overall, we all noticed his attitude and thought it was rather unwelcoming. Because of this experience, I rate this place a 4/5, however, everything else was great!

I got to the shop ahead of my friend and asked the lady at the register if I could purchase two wine tastings and that one would be for a member. She said that she could not look up my friend's name and that she would have to pay in order to get the discount. So rather than letting me do a nice thing before she arrives I have to now wait for my girlfriend to show up. As I was walking away, the gal then asked me for her name, which wouldn't that go to prove that she is a member and wouldn't that have allowed me to purchase the two tastings? She even said "I'm sorry to be annoying" to which I replied yes, that is very annoying. The woman doesn't have much flexibility, obviously and says that people try to take advantage of the discount by saying their friend is a member.... Blah blah blah. The whole thing in general just doesn't make any sense. Don't be annoying, especially on a relaxing Sunday. The discount is what, a dollar or two!? Just look up the name and ask her when she arrives if she is who I said she was. Beyond f-ing annoying and bad customer service. Will be suggesting in the future to go down the street to Hi-Lo or somewhere else entirely.
