They recently renovated. The outside is still a time machine but inside is beautiful now. And the food is always delicious. Long time Ship Bottom vacationer and never had a complaint. Portions are great for price and everything is fresh, even in the off-peak season. Wish it were bigger, and that the bagels were a little more NY-style but other than that, great local diner. It has been a while since I last had my breakfast at Wally's, the former Wally's Mitchell's. Usually after surfing the early mornings we went to The old Wally's. It was a bit outdated and a bit run down, but you could not beat the breakfast. Today with the new owners and a new menu, I feel I am back. Whats new is the restaurant went through a complete upgrade. It is clean, bright and friendly. We were greeted by a young lad who seated us. Our waitress who I must say was not only pleasant, she was quite beautiful with her long black hair and a smile that would brighten any dismal day. If you think of a surfer girl, she is that girl. We had the Grumpy Monkey coffee which was strong and bountiful in the aroma and strength. If this stuff does not wake you up, you are dead, hell it might wake the dead. It was great! As always I order my 2-eggs over easy, home fries, and scrapple. They did have a remarkable bread choice from white to pumper-nickle. I chose the marble Rye. My wife ordered scrambled, with wheat toast and a glass of V-8. After a short wait my breakfast was brought to the table by that beautiful waitress. The food was presented well and hot on very nice flatware. More coffee and water, and we were let alone to enjoy the eats. The only thing I can say was the delicious home fries were a bit sparse. I've been coming to Wally's (Wally Mitchell's) since a kiddo. Up until recently it was owned by the same family. Once the family sold, a complete remodel and expansion occurred. I LOVE the ambiance. It's super cute. The food quality was 3 star, so not bad for a dusty beach town on the Shore (which I say only as a term of endearment- I'm a born and bred Piney). Order NE Clam Chowder- it was more like stew and could have been much better if cooks or wait staff knew to add some liquid at midday. Definitely not placing in the Chowder Fest, but not bad. My mom order the shrimp tacos- she was served bay shrimp at real shrimp prices...we are at the Shore, so I expected a normal-sized shrimp? Caesar salad greens were fresh and crisp but dressing tasted like ranch. Again, ? My sis had a veggie quesadilla and seemed to enjoy hers, especially the pico de gallo. Artichoke dip was good- loved the house-fried pita chips. Over all, I expect to pay $13-$20 pp for lunch on LBI, but at that price I expect shrimp to be of average size & the clam chowder, not clam stew. I understand we are all recovering from Pandemic hours and income loss, so I will give it another chance down the road. All restauranteurs are trying to stay afloat still & God bless them for it! The Blackened Chicken Alfredo was very good.... starter of Super Mushroomy Mushroom Rice soup.... some hot Earl Gray tea... and finish with a slice of rich Crem Brule Cheesecake.... For $15 an amazing meal deal... My wife said the Chicken Rice Bowl was great too... and her Chocolate Chocolate cake looked great. Clean tables and silver.... and BYO.... It was a not too busy Tue night but our server was very nice and considerate... for such needy customers as us I didn't check the bathrooms out so can't speak to them... There were no linen tablecloths or roaming violinists and wouldn't rate 2 stars if it claimed to be a fine dining establishment, but for a place called Walleys, it was simply awesome that weekday in May! read more

Be ready to run to the bathroom after breakfast! With 3 tables & one server for lunch, she was all over the place. We waited for our drinks for 10 minutes while waitress filled sugars & jellies. The food was very tasty, but BEWARE! If your stomach can handle nothing short of a grease pit then you'll be fine. If not, rhen make sure you have an exit strategy!! And trust me, you dont wanna use their tiny bathroom with guests eating only 15 feet away. One little bathroom with no changing table makes it hard for me to change my little one. I gave 2 stars only because their breakfast is decent. It's pretty hard to screw up eggs. I like the whole wheat pancakes. I tried dinner twice within two weeks , first time was a salad it was just fair. On Thursday I went with another couple. Two had salmon, one had mahi-mahi and I had scallops. All said the fish did not taste fresh. My six scallops were the size of a quarter and it was served with orzo with cream poured on top-yucky.if they were trying to make risotto it didn't work. If you come to this place for breakfast, ASK FOR NO BUTTER. Me and my 3 friends got pancakes, waffles and 2 orders of french toast. We all got a mound of butter to accompany our breakfast. Our family sat down and was not serve any food for over 30 minutes, while other people either local's or visitors, or served right away. Clean your rugs! The floor looked filthy which made me want to turn around and walk out. I should have. 1 unisex bathroom which I happened to see the cook go into and out of and it made me sick. The food was mediocre. My sandwich was more bread than ahi tuna. No one at our table finished their food because it was just BAD. The only bright spot was the staff is very nice. read more

My family and I have been coming to Long Beach Island for almost 20 years to vacation and now we're lucky enough to have extended family with a house in Harvey Cedars. We spent last weekend on the island and decided to try Wally's for breakfast on Sunday morning. This is a small place that I'd only been to once before. Although they were busy, we were seated with just a minimal wait. The service was good and our waitress was quick to get our drinks and take our orders. One of my favorite breakfast foods is corned beef hash with eggs. Wally's has some of the best I've ever had. I'm not sure what they put in it, but if you're a hash fan, you have to try this one. Good little place that we'll be coming back to you in the future. If you're in the area, give it a try. I'm not sure they are open year round however. read more

This place is great. Nothing too fancy, but not too plain, either. You'll find a nice list of specials to choose from, and never a wait for a table. The servers are super friendly. If the coffee were better, this place would draw a solid five stars from me, but it's always awful. No matter - get some water and juice, and try the Steve omelette. For those of you who haven't been there in a while- you need to revisit this place! First, the interior has been completely redone making it bright and cheery rather than the dark, depressing place it used to be. Second, the food and service were outstanding- except the home fries could have spent a little more time in the frying pan (next time I'll be sure to mention it to the waitress when I place my order).
