When we arrived, there was a QR code on the door to scan the menu, so we took the time to look it over while waiting. After finally reaching the counter, we were told that the coffee drinks we wanted are only available on Sundays. It was confusing and frustrating if the menu is limited on certain days, there should be some kind of notice before customers wait in line. Feeling rushed because of the line behind us, we ended up ordering two nitro cold brews (one with sugar‑free vanilla). Unfortunately, both drinks tasted exactly the same and were nothing special. Honestly, I could've made something similar at home and saved the $15. There are definitely better coffee options in the area. On the positive side, the staff was friendly, there was plenty of seating, and the food and sandwiches looked decent. But overall, the experience just didn't match the expectations. read more

This place is actually very good. There is so much seating, and they make your order quickly, and everything is delicious. I came in October 2024 and tried two special menu items: the honeysuckle matcha latte (iced) and the sweet potato and sausage bowl (has egg, spinach, roasted peppers, cheese). Both were great! Omg, where has this coffee been all my life. My boyfriend and I are obsessed! We went two days in a row to get their Hawaiian Hazelnut cold brew, which is their flavor of the month. So so good! We originally tried their coffee from LBI table during breakfast and enjoyed it so much we decided to go to the storefront. It's a beautiful and huge cafe with a parking lot! The staff is also great. They have some sweet treats and a savory menu as well. We stuck with their coffee and also tried their nitro brew. It was deliciously smooth. We'll definitely be back before the summer is over to hopefully fry some more flavors. Do yourself a favor and try their monthly special! It's truly so good, I've never had such a tasty flavor. This has become an island staple.... I never thought when they opened their little store south of the current location mid 2000s that it would turn into this and I'm so here for it! Having watched this develop the owners have done an amazing job from roasting their own specific unique flavors of coffee to implementing breakfast and other awesome food stuff.... I made a few visits back to HYB in the last few weeks and I need to update my last review out of fairness to their coffee and their prices. The coffee here is actually pretty good and they make a very nice cold brew that won't break your wallet so much. HYB has better prices and quality than the other options in Surf City and they give you a pretty nice place to sit and enjoy your cup. Go here for a caramel frap no whip! Tastes very similar to Starbucks version which is the perfect cold sweet treat to beat the heat! Needed a pick me up after the beach and had the frap and a delicious VEGAN oatmeal raisin cookie. It was so large I had to share it. It was also soft and chewy which is how I like my cookies. I HATE hard crumbly dry cookies and this one was so squishy when leaned on its side there was an indent where the cookie started to take the flat shape of the counter from its position and gravity. Maybe it's more like raw cookie dough-esque but nevertheless I was impressed! I also felt like these prices were perhaps a little bit friendlier than Starbucks and the scene is a much cooler comfortable place with several rest rooms and both comfy indoor and outdoor seating. I stopped by here earlier today with my wife and our twins for our morning coffee. We like to try different local coffee shops, especially when traveling and happened to find How you Brewing. Not only was the name fun but it was the highest reviewed coffee shop nearby and so we headed on over. This shop is located right on Long Beach Blvd on LBI. Whenever we got there at around 9 AM on this Sunday morning the place was packed. It only got more busy as we waited for our coffees to be made. The inside of this coffee shop consists of a place where you can buy some of their beans, a pastry case as well as a number of tables. Then they have a bunch of outdoor seating as well which was hopping on the day that we were there. For our coffees on this morning I went with a large coconut latte while my wife went with a nitro cold brew. It took maybe 5 minutes before we had our coffees and were on our way. My coffee here ended up being absolutely delicious! The coconut flavor in it was strong but it tasted real and unlike the fake stuff. My only comment, and it's because I am nitpicking, is that the coconut ended up overshadowing the espresso a bit. While I couldn't taste as much of it as I normally would like, I actually didn't care for once. That's likely because I was able to try my wife's nitro cold brew and thought it was great too. The coffee was rich and smooth with a nice aftertaste as well. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My wife and I both loved our coffee and I would be interested in trying some of their food as well. read more

How you Brewin is more than a coffee spot! This once small coffee shop has transformed its Surf City location into a great cafe. I've eaten here for lunch, hung out while doing computer work, grabbed coffee from the speed bar and even had an interview here once! It's so popular there is often a line but it moves quickly. If you're in a rush and not getting much, consider ordering online, using the speed bar (only good for certain drinks no food) or just be patient :). There is a parking lot and a ramp to get up the few stairs to the shop. Seating both indoors and outdoors. Moderately priced. I cannot wait for them to open a location in Pompano Beach, FL!!!! I've ordered ground coffee from their website before and really enjoyed it, but today I finally made a trip to their Surf City location. I've followed them on Instagram for a bit and they constantly encourage people to stop in or spend the day working there. Props to whoever does their social, because that's what convinced me to make the trip. A lot about LBI has changed over the years, but this felt like a "locals" spot. I made myself at home, setting up my laptop knowing working there was acceptable. For this reason not only did I order coffee/breakfast, I stayed and ordered lunch before finishing my day. The staff was friendly and pleasant, the coffee selection is great, and the food was delicious. I plan to return again more consistently even though it's a bit of a trip for me. I have been to how you brewin almost every day for my iced americano. the roast is perfect, not like starbucks, very smooth almost like my favorite italian lavazza expresso, smooth not bitter and robust. I think the vibe over the past few years has changed quite a bit. its super packed every day with all kinds of people, beach goers like me, kids, grad students, and remote workers. I got a bagel with bacon egg and cheese on it for breakfast and a latte with almond milk, s'mores flavor, and whipped cream for the drink.
