I brough my 2014 Scion in for an inspection last year and was told that the car had an oil leak and…read moreneeded an expensive test (well over $100) to determine where the leak was coming from. I was sceptical since the car is always parked in my driveway and there has never been oil spots. I went for a second and third opinion and was informed there was no oil leak. My car, like typical older 4 cylinder vehicles has a tendency to burn through some oil and to check the levels periodically. Since then there have been no issues, there has continued to be no oil in the driveway. I was told previously by other people to avoid using this shop and now I know why!!!

Next thing I know, I get a $4000 plus estimate for work that needs to be done. We had someone from Ellicottville Auto look over the quote and found that Joe's inflated part prices x3. Said I needed a whole new radiator and all sorts of other things done. Ended up having it towed to our local guy (Ellicottville Auto) who found and fixed the leak (a clamp), replaced the thermostat and a windshield wiper for under $300. Joe's charged me more for the towing and diagnostics ($352). They saw a female and thought they could rake me over the coals. I repeat DO NOT TRUST THIS BUSINESS!!! Zero star rating (the towing guy and the female receptionist were very nice-only positives)

He called about an hour later and said they were all done and everything was in great shape. They are always very professional and very friendly. Will continue to bring our cars here for service.

I usually get my inspections and oil changes here with an appt when I can't fly through a jiffy…read morelube and it's right around the corner from me. Usually it's great which is why I still went. Second last time I was there the ignition stuck for the older man working there. I told him you have to jiggle the wheel. In a disappointed grandpa voice he told me it's not gonna start one day. It's a known Focus issue that's happened maybe twice a year and my car's been fine for years after paying cash and it's a 2010 Focus. I don't invest a lot in this car, not worth it. I was approached about my rust issue. Yes, I'm aware of it, I drive it and that's why there's duct take under the driver side door haha. Why is this the first time you even mention it, saying it's a probable safety issue when it's not the first time you've seen it at all? And maybe it's policy but how does someone who's worked this long in auto act like they have no idea where to recommend to deal with it? And if it's not fixable and I explain I bought this car with cash and it's lasted me years and don't wanna waste money on it, don't continue to talk to me like I don't get it. I might be bubbly and don't know everything about cars but I'm also almost 40 and don't wanna be talked to like an oblivious kid. And maybe it won't start one day but don't make it sound like a new issue that could implode at any moment when I've already said been familiar with it for years issue-free thanks to google. Another mechanic walked by after my oil change as I was cashing out and mentioned the ignition issue to the older man and said it's a common Ford issue. Older man turns and says "Did ya catch that?" like he found another issue I must not have been aware of (I am, we've discussed this, I don't care). I don't want to have this convo every time I come in just because I have a cheap old dependable car that I road trip to the ground that I'd rather upgrade and replace than invest in. It's hard enough for people to go to a mechanic and worry about getting hosed and telling me my car is gonna not start at any minute over a known glitch doesn't produce a lot of confidence. Nice guy but needs to learn to stop taking down to people. I probably won't go back now.
