An unfortunate experience. I try to avoid Walmart like the plague. I was hoping I could complete a quick trip to grab a few things I needed. Of course, I should have expected otherwise. If you are even able to navigate this crowded and unorganized store, you will likely be unable to retrieve what you need from the shelves. I came in to quickly grab a jug of carpet cleaner but found it to be behind a locked glass door. I pressed the button to call for assistance but nobody ever came. I pressed it multiple times within the span of 20 minutes while also peeking down the aisles to see if I could flag an employee down. Nobody came by to help with this five second task. I ended up leaving and walking around the store until I found two young employees walking together gossiping with one another in one of the aisles. The employee that came to unlock the case was friendly and quick but showed no care about the situation. It was frustrating that something so simple took so incredibly long, especially since the employees that had the keys to the case were lounging around doing nothing. If they actually monitored the button, they could've assisted me and I could've been out of there in less than 10 minutes. I hope I never have a need to come back to this Walmart! read more

At the return desk a customer was trying to send money to Mexico. The employee was having difficulty helping the customer complete this task. I waited and waited. The return line grew to six more people. The Walmart employee did not acknowledge anyone or call for help. After 15 minutes waiting I finally asked her to call for help. When "help" arrived both employees began working together to help the customer sending money, while ignoring everyone else in line. Once again I asked for help, and someone finally came to take care of the folks waiting on the return line. This was one of the worst customer experiences I've had in my life. No more on-line shopping at Walmart making a return is usually an awful experience. read more

A star is too much because that's the least available. I will not renew my membership and will not shop at Walmart anymore - even if it cost more elsewhere. Walmart have some of their advertised items comes from a third party and even if that item is with your initial order is at Walmart when you place the order- it's treated as a separate order and if it's below minimum it will charge you the delivery fee which could be more than the item. Besides, I joined the membership because of NO MINIMUM order but I just noticed that because of the third party vendor that doesn't apply to the current $35 minimum order So good bye Walmart- no renewal after my membership ends in February 2026. In addition, why do they hold more money than your total ordered amount? I asked multiple employees for help and they seems so bothered that I asked for help and they said "I don't know, or go ask someone else" like really!? They are also so rude! I try as hard as possible to not shop at this particular store. Even the smaller store in the other side of town we go to sometimes but you really have to pick those battles. Yes, it's a battle, usually the customer service is pretty bad and just the overall expectations going there have to be set very low. You can and will save money there but at what cost to your mental health? So have not reviewed it because why give them the one start that they typically don't deserve? Today they frustrated me so much that had to finally do it, reluctantly as am not getting this time back and already wasted 30 minutes of my life due to their lack of common sense and bad service. Some of this is not their fault because they have closed down their section of the garden center due to the crime and pilferage issues that are now rampant in California. They sell propane cheaper than anyone else so it's alluring to pay $19 vs $25 for a propane tank exchange. So I parked somewhere in the middle of main entrance and garden center where I could see the tank storage. Put my tank in a cart and went inside to tell them I needed a swap, immediately they said I could not be there with the tank, I said I understood but you can't just leave the cart outside with the tank because it will get stolen so they said fine just go to garden center and they will come out and swap. Did that and almost 30 minutes later in the 98 degrees modesto heat with no shade and no one showed up. I had gone back already about 5 min in to make sure someone was going and they seemed very annoyed and said someone would be there soon.......soon never came,I left and went to the smaller store in the opposite side of town. They had a self serve unit at a corner of the store to which I was directed to when I asked the greeter at store entrance, walked the 1/2 block to the sled propane stand and at least that's in the shade so that's good but the unit was off so walked all the way back to the greeter and they proceeded to argue that it "should" work so I told them it's not hooked up there is no power and maybe they should let the vendor know. They were very annoyed at how dumb I apparently was and not being able to figure out the self serve part...... the supv with the radio said he could show me very condescendingly and I told him I would wait for him to go back and forth and see it was off for himself. He took off very annoyed at me then I watched him realize I was right and it was not operator error and he just sat down way down there and took his cigarette break and never came back. Lol!! I knew that was going to happen so just went to gas station by my house payed the $25 for the exchanges in a smooth and effortless process that took less than two minutes. 1 star rating: 1/2 for the main store 1/2 for the other store and only because I can't give them negative stars. read more

Ugh! I hate this place! I like Walmart in general but Plaza Parkway sucks. I went back to sporting goods to get hiking staffs and I press the button since they are locked up (mind you, the machetes next to the case are not locked up). Nobody shows up. Several workers walk pass but they say they don't have "the key." It was faster for me to go to Big 5 and get them as opposed to continue waiting at that glass case. There are always a crowd of customers here. However, there is usually only two cashiers. The rest are just sitting around chatting at self-checkout. I understand that there are fewer staff members because of financial issues but shopping in the store is almost impossible. Everything is locked up and nobody is there to help you. read more

If I can give this Walmart zero stars I would. I went to Walmart yesterday. Try to return something they gave me an excuse that I couldn't return it. I needed a receipt. I never had this trouble in all the years. I've been shopping there 30 years plus something to do with I don't know pharmacy program I never heard of it take a shove it up their rear end I guess it's new I never heard of it. I just wanted to exchange item. They refused to say on the bottle satisfaction guaranteed by Walmart. It's a Walmart item, but I can't even exchange it. I'm sick and tired that when you try to do self check out they said it for card only, then you have to wait 30 minutes to an hour just for the slow human-cashier to check you out, and I mean these cashiers take forever just to scan one item they are lazy just to scan one item two items or three items. It takes them forever to check you out. I personally do not like their cashiers to touch my stuff because I don't know if they wash their filthy hands. and it was a miracle that they had more than one check out open. If I could give 0 stars, I would! I bought an HP printer cartridge Tuesday night for $131.49. It was the only one left on the shelf. I installed the cartridges in the printer Wednesday, and the HP message said one of the two cartridges appeared to be damaged. (Cyan and yellow). I took the damaged cartridges back to Walmart for a refund. They said I could only exchange them because they had been open, but customer service was closed, and I needed to come back tomorrow. I told them I needed another cartridge. Long story short, this turned into WWIII. These are the most disgusting unintelligent degenerates I have ever met. Everybody said a different lie from they don't take back opened products. Yet I took pictures of open and used returned items in the customer service area. Then they said they don't take back opened electronics. How do you know if the cartridges work if you don't install them? The cartridges were damaged, according to HP. Not only will I be disputing the charge on my credit card, but I will also be suing Walmart for discrimination. I would not recommend this Walmart to two dead flies. I lost it on these good-for-nothing scumbuckets. I am usually calm, but they took me all out of my element. They tried to kick me out of the store and demanded I leave after all these so-called fake managers couldn't bully me. I come to this location often as it is closest to me. I find the place full of different things that other Walmarts may not have. I like their pet supply area, their homegoods department and baby department. They have a great selection of candles and kitchenware with which I find myself browsing. Their produce can use a little improvement as some of the salad bags are expired and/or wilted. Their bakery is good, in fact I found a delicious strawberry "gourmet-type" cupcake! A lot of people don't understand how hard they work despite not having many people working there all the time. A lot of these people giving bad reviews need to work there to understand. I have been on both sides as a costumer and cashier worker and I understand the amount every person has to do to get that busy store running. People complaining about the bags, I understand it's out of there control, they don't make the bags!!! My wife sent me to pick up an item at the store location. She saw the item in stock online and she sends me a screenshots the item. I get there and I try to find the item. I finally was able to flag down an elderly lady that was working on what it appeared to be restocking merchandise. I smiled and asked her politely if she could help me find a coil mattress that the internet says they have In stock. She quickly says " the Internet lies!" I LOL . She says "We don't carry coil mattress in store," then proceeds to walk away. I say hold on lady I have another question . She helps me find the other item quickly, then says "I have to go." "Walmart" and "Nice" usually don't go together, not that this bothers me. But this is one of the nicer ones. Most Walmarts are visible from the main thoroughfares. Strangely, even though this one is in the vicinity of both Highway 99 and Briggsmore, you wouldn't know that it's here. It's hidden away in the middle of Plaza Parkway. But once you come here, you're in a bargain shopper's wonderland where, with a little walking, you can partake of Walmart, Winco, and Dollar Tree, and park your car only once! Then you can take your savings and eat big at Black Bear Diner, again without moving your car. This one is pretty nice, and seems bigger than most. It has the usual Walmart wares: clothing, household goods, health products, sports equipment, snacks. And ammo, can't forget the ammo (don't forget: the neighborhood violence is increasing and coming to your town soon, be prepared and be armed). Customer service is at a low level. Parking is spacious. I wrote on the other Modesto Walmart, and I'll write here: Go here for December shopping, because you're more likely to find parking here than at the McHenry store. For all the talk about the infamous People Of Walmart, I saw few here. On the other hand, maybe they don't come out on Saturday mornings. On the other hand, I IS a People Of Walmart. I went here to get cleaning supplies & a bike for my son. This place was a complete circus! There was a guy selling fruit in the parking lot, another guy playing and accordion begging for money in the heat with his babies and I'm assuming wife, then another guy walking around taking donations for adopted children & that's all before you ever make it in the store! I made my way to the bikes the stock guy said he was on lunch & took my name and number to build the bike, he called me the next afternoon to say it was ready. I'm definitely not going to get a bike that takes a day to build. Then I got to the front they told me they don't accept cash only cards so I just walked out the store, that should have been posted on the door at the cash register maybe even the service desk!!!! I actually work in the same plaza as this Walmart is located at and one day before work started I thought I'd run some errands. I went into the store and went to the bathroom first. OH MY GOD. let me tell you here... The bathrooms in the front, where you first walk in at, are DISGUSTING. I can't even emphasize that enough to you. It stunk like heck and every single stall either had piss on the part where you sit or didn't even flush. Or there were feisieze in the toilet. I came to this location to pick up a leather phone case for my iPhone 6S. I couldn't find any on the shelf, so I tried locating a store employee in the electronics department. There were literally zero employees on the floor, so I went to another department to find an employee. I asked him if they carried any, and he responded "If we do, they would be in the electronics department" (as if I didn't already know that). I told him there was nobody there to help me, which he responded "Yeah, we're understaffed today." No shit, Sherlock! Anyways, he called for assistance in the electronics department, and I even heard it over the intercom. I waited what seemed like five minutes for a store employee, only to find the only employee they called was checking out customers in line, which consisted of at least five people! Frustrated and tired of waiting, I left. It seems to me they should have more staff during the back-to-school shopping season, but they don't. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm guessing ever since Walmart stores across the nation were forced to pay their employees decent wages and benefits, they decided to cut back on employees to save money. read more

I went there for groceries and all the shopping carts were outside. One of their associates sees me trying to carry a case of water and doesn't ask if I need help or if he can get me a cart. When I went to self checkout, the associate at the register told me all the carts are outside now. That's not helpful when your hands are full.
