Can I give no stars? This is the saddest walmart. Messy, gross, unorganized. It's pathetic

I live in North Reading so this is my Walmart. I never realized how ripped off I was until I started going to other Walmarts and boy I am really getting ripped off. I'm not talking about the prices, I'm talking about the inventory. They do not even have pasta, not a single box. Need I say more? I also love when I check out and never get eye contact from the cashier and never hear single syllable out of them. There are some good cashiers there like Wimmy and Kathy and some others but many times I am never greeted in anyway whatsoever. read more

Walmart just seems so "icky" to me! Target is my go to, but occasionally I do make a stop in a Walmart. This Walmart tends be filled with the most unsavory degenerates, the parking lot is horrible & the staff (the poor things) look so unhappy! I literally feel depressed when I leave this store. Also, there is a Subway in the store, right when you walk in & you get punched in the face with the aroma of gross Subway bread & Walmart scent....bleck!! read more

An awful example of a wal mart, and that's really saying something. I've been here many, many times and have never once been assisted by the staff. Most staff seem unhappy and avoid helping customers. Check out lines are extremely slow. This is not the case at most other department stores. It almost seems like this wal mart goes out of its way to drive away and inconvenience customers. I'm done supporting wal mart in general. read more

We visit this Walmart occasionally as it is the closest and most convenient Walmart to us. The prices of generic prescriptions at Walmart are the lowest we've seen and while we're here, we sometimes buy other brand name items too. This particular Walmart seems average to me when compared with other big boxed stores. While not as impressive as the locations I've seen out West, there is a good selection of items here and the aisles are organized. We've always used their self checkout option and it works out well for us. read more

I was in there today to buy a charger. I couldn't find them in the electronics dept so i sought out an employee to help me . I found Evelyn who was unpacking boxes in main aisle . Politely I said, "Excuse me, could you please show me where the chargers are?" . She just looked at me, and walked over to electronic dept w/out saying a word! I followed her. She looked around for them & when she found them she pointed and said: "there" and walked away. I thanked her but i was floored! So , so rude! I love great c/s & Walmart is not famous for it. I always come to this Walmart and I've never really had a bad experience.... until today. While attempting to check out my items I was faced with an extremely rude employee, I believe her name was Lorraine. I went in to Walmart to buy some mason jars, I found some in the isle neatly displayed on the shelf. When I attempted to buy these items I was rudely told that I cannot be sold these items for they were not in packaging (I was unaware that these items came as a set in a specific package for they were free on the shelf) when I asked if there were any available in packaging I was again told "I can't sell you these". Instead of assisting me with a purchase I was dismissed and flagged away. Before I had even left the check out she was already assisting the next customer. She was extremely rude, unhelpful and completely ignored me when I asked her a question. Normally I would have no problem with this issue but what I did have an issue with was how I was treated by an employee. Not a bad Walmart but they should really consider reevaluating who they hire. Lorraine is rude and should not be working with customers face to face. read more

This is a smaller Walmart, but I can still sometimes find what I need. I do not shop at this location normally, but rather drive to the next location further North, a Super Walmart. For me it is worth the extra drive-time because the store is bigger and has more items, including grocery items. read more

This Walmart has to be in the running for one of the worst on the planet. They never have the basics items on the shelves. Out of soap, out of toilet paper, out of toothpaste. If I am going to rely on this place for my personal hygiene product needs then I will end up a funky hot mess. This being out of products did not happen on just one visit but multiple visits. As a matter of fact, while I was looking for a product and eventually finding that they were out of, another customer was complaining to a store employee that they had been there three times in three weeks looking for the same product and the space that it is suppose to be stocked on the shelf was always empty. I normally love Walmart but this location is pretty dreadful. The selection isn't as good as most of the other stores. But, seriously, WTH is up with the check-out? The lines will be 15 customers deep and they'll only have two registers open. MAYBE after ten or so minutes they'll decide to open one more register. I can understand being short-handed, but this happens all the time, and often there are employees just walking around. I have also never encountered a cashier that was friendly. The store is smaller than many and that is a negative. However, it is fairly well stocked for the size and I have never had a problem with the employees or with returns or exchanges. I live close to the store and am there often, more than once a week. It would be nice to shop local but the prices at Walmart are what attract me more than Target that carries more things. I'm glad that Walmart North Reading is there but it would be nice if they could enlarge the store. There appears to be ample land available. read more

Always a long line. They rip you off with a return if you don't have the receipt even if you bought it on a credit card. The store has a poor selection of stock. Management does not return calls. Avoid this store. read more

Say what you want about Wal Marts, they are still king of all places to go when you want something cheap. Always crowded, always slightly off kilter, this Wal Mart is still my #1 place to when I need a cheap thing. For instance - my work is doing a $10-limit Christmas grab gift thing. And so I thought, of all places to find something cool for only $10, this is the place to go! Found a number of ideas here - and got something very nice. This store seems to be cleaner than the last time I was here - maybe they hired extra help for the Christmas season? Still - it's not a bad place to go when you have a tight budget. read more

I shop here early in am during the week every week. The employees have been great. One year shopping on baby food and formula and they were always in stock. Toys dept is looking a lot better than it used to. Good job for cleaning it up. I always find what I need in cosmetic dept. Love shopping for decorations and the prices are very reasonable. Little kids shoes seems to run out of stock very, very quickly. Still I'd go back and shop for other things. read more

This place is an absolute dump and they go out of their way to hire complete imbeciles. Apparently, it's a job requirement to be either nasty or stupid, or both. I called Walmart Monday evening looking to see if they carried a specific name brand item. The woman on the phone was clearly not interested in helping me but assured me, nevertheless, that they stocked this item and had quite a few left, so, no...they wouldn't put one aside for me. I drove there first thing Tuesday morning to buy it and not only did they not have this particular thing I needed, they NEVER carried it. I spoke to some clown who was an assistant manager who informed me that he would "deal with her"....whatever the hell that means. Since I didn't have her name I doubt they will "deal" with anything. Stay away from this place.....everyone there is completely incompetent. read more

Close this store, please. Then I will not be tempted to try this store one more time. Most recent visit waited in endless line to pay and register broke. Left without my items .. Waste off time. At least twice pharmacy has not had my meds in stock but waited till I arrived next day to tell me. I pointed out once to pharmacy that the new prescription receipt was not being accepted by my insurance and instead of noting this the employee told me it 'was above his pay grade' . Such concern. I think the employes try but it is a losing battle. They have my sympathy, seem as frustrated as the shoppers do. Walmart top brass spend some MONEY. read more

This the only one I've ever been in, so I don't really know how it compares. There is a weird smell and the selection seems fair. The staff have been helpful when I needed to know where something is and there is a lot in the seasonal section for Christmas. read more

I avoid going here at all cost. This place has the worst most useless employees ever! It is impossible to find someone to help you. I use to use the site to store pick up, but now I just pay for the shipping. Every time I went to pick something up it took at least a half hour to even get someone to help me. Also I hate the fact that they no longer have hand held baskets. They should want people to do they're small shopping there too. read more

Customer service is awful and manager's are very unhelpful. I went in there 3 times and all 3 times the employees lied about either a price or return policy. They sold me a popped air bed and wouldn't let me return it then pretty much called me stupid even after i talked to a manager on the phone and said i could return it. There is not 1 good thing about this place and i would have given them 0 stars if i could. STAY OUT OF THIS WALMART. Go to any other Walmart and it is 100% better read more

I really like this Walmart because it's not crazy busy whenever I go. I usually go about 2 hours before they close which means it's not during the busiest times. The clerks @ the service desk seem to know what they are doing which is always a plus. This store is noticeably smaller than other Walmarts but, that's fine...they seem to have the basics of what I need. Also, the store is relatively clean. Unlike the one in Quincy which is usually a nightmare!! read more

i went there last night (12/20/13) 5 days before Christmas and they close at 9PM.... umm wtf not cool at all!!!! VERY UNHAPPY WITH THIS!!!

I love going to this Walmart because it's not rediculously busy like the one in Quincy. Granted they close earlier than the other Walmarts. I usually go later in the day, like after 6pm. The last time, I was there it was a Saturday evening. I couldn't believe the store was practically empty. I imagine since the store isn't as busy as the others, their inventory may be limited. I don't think I've ever seen such an unorganized system of infomation on my photos,prices,products (whether in stock or price).Call in for info. over the phone,forget it!!! Once someone finally answers,they trasner you to someone else that puts you on hold indefinitely or transfers you again,hope you will hang up.At least there hoping.You can call three four five times before they finally tell you that someone must not be at there area to answer the phone.Have yet to call and get answer by phone.Just drive there and ask a simple yes or no question. read more

Having grown up in Reading, for much of my life I thought that all Walmarts were as horrible as this store. It wasn't until recently, when I've had a chance to visit other stores, that I realize how just poorly managed this location is. Granted no Walmart is a great shopping experience, but this store is especially awful, and it is not because it isn't a supercenter. As a former retail clerk myself, the abysmal level of customer service is really astonishing. You have a better chance of running into Bigfoot than finding an employee that can help locate a product. Many of them do not speak English and are not familiar with the layout of the store. Only a few cashiers man the registers at any given time, which probably saves the store a few bucks but the costs are passed to the customer in the form of time wasted standing in line. What should be a quick trip often turns into a 20-30 min affair to locate a few products and then check out. A real shame, because I avoided Walmart for many years (and still do) solely because I always left this store more stressed out than when I entered. read more
