I went here last night about 30 minutes before closing, (8pm Thursday 7/2) and the staff was still super helpful and courteous and gave me their time. Mai in cosmetics was so sweet and helpful and had such a great attitude and a wonderful personality. And a young man in apparel helped me look for some pants I found online, didn't catch his name but he had dark hair, he was also super helpful and gave his full attention. Also as we were leaving the security gal gave a big smile and a hello as well! And the guy at the door when we walked out was friendly with his goodbye. Shame on Walmart! There are dogs all over the store! Dogs jumping on people, dogs barking at people...it's ridiculous. These are NOT legit Service Dogs and the staff needs to learn and enforce the ADA policy on SDs. Even a genuine SD can be removed from the premises if it is disruptive. Customer service SUCKS here. I needed to get ear plugs and lens wipes which are locked up. So you have to press this button that should alert an associate to help you. I ordered a pick up and it said that I could pick it up the same day, however, that wasn't the case. I had to wait a couple days to pick it up and when I went to pick it up they did not have my order prepared. They lost two of propane cylinders that I had ordered, and gave me half of a basic torch kit I ordered as well. I had a horrible experience and waiting and not having my order prepared when they told me they had it. Never coming back here! read more

There's nothing super about this Walmart. I used to love going to the Monterey road location despite the fact that I live 3 mins away from the Almaden store. It seems like ever since Monterey store closed everyone is forced to visit this one. The parking lot is a COMPLETE disaster, trying to find parking sucks and trying to leave is even worse. You would think it was designed by 8 year olds. If you order anything online just pay the extra money to have it shipped to your home, the line to pick up online orders is always long and slow. I bought a package of wall decal (self-stick wallpaper). When I got it home, I realized that it had been opened and most of the decal had been removed. There was only enough left to make the package look like it was full. I took it back and got a refund. So far so good. I went back to the shelf and found the only other package had also been opened and took it to one of the workers, who said she'd take it to loss control or whatever. Still no problem. I went back the next week to see if any new stock had come in and there was one package on the shelf. I decided to open it to make sure that it was a complete package. Nope. The leftovers from the two packages had been combined into one package and the workers had put it back on the shelf. Not good. My second problem is the pharmacy. They don't need a prescription for the meds I need and have refused to look at the RX the doctor sent. Yet every time I go in they give me a hassle about getting the meds and look at me suspiciously. I tried transferring the prescription to CVS but they charge 4x as much so I'm stuck with Walmart. read more

We ordered ahead several days before and were there for a pick up, I think the person in pick up doesn't work; there was 1 person ahead and it took over 1 hour waiting for someone to show up to give us our item. This Walmart is dirty and the parking lot is sketchy and the staff is horrible. People keep trying to steal parking spaces. There is lint and dust everywhere in the store. One of the employees was harassing my son. Another employee ( Walmart Grocery Delivery employee) was driving the grocery delivery cart WHILE ON HER PHONE is driving the cart very fast and wasn't paying attention and almost ran into my daughter riding in the seat. Worst shopping experience ever. No one answers calls at various stores for item availability. Went to the store after website indicated the item I needed was available. There were none. Called another store. Again no one answered and was disconnected. When I purchased 2 twelve ounce cans of drinks and purchased a bag for them to be bagged the cashier would not bag them saying the items were "too heavy"!!! I will never again deal with Walmart. Customer service is the worst in the area. They don't follow Walmart's return policy, and even make up reason to deny your return. When an online Walmart customer service representative was trying to help me, the assistant manager said "I'm not talking to him". Very rude! I went to Walmart Story. They checked the policy and processed my return in 2 minutes. I bought a rainx windshield wiper and when I opened it and installed it, it was a Michelin wiper inside. One that should not happen, two when I went to return it, I waited 20 minutes to ask to replace or switch for an actual rainx wiper. They told me to go get a new one and switch it out. The lady did not tell me to bring the old one back but just to switch it out. So I came back waited in line just for her to ask me where's the old one. I told her she told me to switch it out, and she refutes by saying I need the old one to exchange. Her directions were to switch out for a new one, not bring back the old one. So long story short, waited 30 minutes and ran across the store twice to wait some more. I could've just swapped it myself and saved myself 30 minutes. read more

Wal-mart = Ghetto-mart! This place earned my coveted GAF badge. For my non Urban followers that stands for, Ghetto as Fuck!) From the ridiculous layout, to the inept employees, this place sucks! I haven't even mentioned the poor quality of the produce or the focus on overly processed, commercial foods. This store is for shoppers who focus on crappy food at cheap prices. This is obvious as they have only a tiny section of healthy food. Four aisles of processed garbage and only 1/4 of one small freezer for Healthy Choice/Smart Ones type foods. You get the point. The mentality seems to be, gear the food selection to families on a budget and just sell crap. This brings a certain type of customer into the store so don't say you weren't warned....lol Lay out - Glad to see they contracted with Ray Charles to design this lame ass store. Most aisles are not big enough for two carts to go by one another and they have displays in the middle of the floor plan that have no business being in that section. It is the most confusing layout for ANY type of store I have been in. It doesn't help that employees who stock the store have these extra large carts that block your way. They will simply look at you when you are trying to get by. BTW, good luck determining which register is open too. They have a small wattage light bulb in the number that you can barely see. Then when you pull your cart up to stand that is closed they give you the same ridiculous look. Employees - Where do I begin? Walmart hired every English second language employee they could find that specializes in ZERO customer service. They get in your way and look at you like you are the idiot. UNREAL! The cashier I had was totally not paying attention to me or what she was doing. Her conversation was so forced and broken that I actually shook my head and laughed. Price - Honestly, I didn't find the prices of the quality items much cheaper if at all versus Target or Safeway/Lucky's. Maybe the ghetto food was cheaper but thats not the crap I buy. Recommendation - I immediately drove to the Target on Hillsdale Ave. in San Jose to finish getting the items I could not get at this ghetto mecca. Target has as good of prices, a SMART design/layout, exceptional selection of all types of food and a fast and easy checkout area. If you are low class and ghetto, shop or apply for a job here. The hate on this place is HARSH! To be honest, I have always been a Target person. But Walmart has it's own purpose for me as well. For example, boneless skinless chicken breast is always $1.97 a lb everyday here..I go through 10lbs a week. Supermarkets like Safeway rarely have it on sale for that cheap, and it's nice for me to just pick up what I need as opposed to having to stock up and clutter my freezer. Eggs are $1.77 for 18, which isn't bad at all either. And bananas are always around 50 cents a lb. See my point? The location to me was interesting. My first thought was that they will need the swat team out there to supervise Black Friday Sales. But because of the Walmart, they added in the option to make a left turn onto Almaden when exiting the plaza. As before, it was just a right turn only, and you had to go all the way down to Blossom Hill to make a U-turn to head back to Pearl/Brahnam area. You may not like Wal-Mart's reputation or business practices, but my wallet doesn't discriminate! I never gotten poor or rude service here. I avoid Story and Monterey because they are always busy and packed. But the one on Almaden is definitley not as hectic. Don't expect a Whole Foods type experience. A Walmart may seem lowly for Almaden Valley, but if you don't like it, don't shop here! simple as that. read more

Haha, lots of negative reviews.... what were these people expecting when going to a Walmart??? Service like Nordstroms? A department store like Macy's? LOL I'll say that the Almaden Exp / 85 area is a mess and it will be that way until they fix the offramp from 85 onto Almaden. Work is underway in the area, we'll see if it helps or not. Knowing that, it's best to come this way during off hours if possible. The store is typical and is a good place for misc items like socks, underwear and misc items for kids. (I have sports socks from Walmart / Starter and they work well for jogging / mtb'ing / hiking) I'm not into heavily processed foods and do my best to stay away from them here or any other store. They have decent produce and pretty good prices. There are many other choices in this area though, Safeway, Costco, Whole Foods, Trader Joe's and the little produce market next to Trader J's. Walmart is just another low end department store that you can add into the mix if your in the area during 'off hours'. Target is right down the street at Oakridge if you prefer your Chinese made items at another store. Finding a parking spot at Oakridge can be a nightmare as well depending on the time you go there. read more

This is one of the wurst Walmart we have visited. They have no concept of Customer service. Today There was a lady with more than 60 item standing in line of 20 items and fewer. When we complained to cashier they were very casual and did not ask lady to move to smother lane. She was not ready to get manager too. When we were pushy, associate manager Justin came with couple of more staff members and shockingly there were rude and were not ready to listen. Justin not even ready to acknowledge that it was a mistake. We were told they it's his store and he knows better.. They did not even once told cashier to take care next time.. Very upset with Justin's on your face attitude.. Have decided not to visit this Walmart anymore, I can see Justin saying "who cares".. read more

Worst location for a busy Walmart! There is a one lane exit that leads to a three lane stoplight that gets backed up when there's people coming and going from Walmart, which is all the time. You end up waiting five to ten minutes in line with people cutting in from BestBuy. I think that is ridiculous for something that people flock to like a Walmart Supercenter. The Walmart is next to a BestBuy which are sort of tucked away from the street, so you often miss the entrance unless you see the sign and once you enter, you go down a narrow "corridor" to get to the Walmart in back. This review is nothing about the actual store, departments, services, etc, just the planning of the location and entrance/exit to the parking was very poor! read more

I grew up on Walmart, so I'm vastly familiar with the whole "people of Walmart" vibe. But this was the first time I've been to this location. Mistake #1: going at 9:30PM on a random Tuesday. I got out of my car and it was straight The Walking Dead. A dozen zombie-like crack heads, meth heads, reject hookers, slowly zigzagging between cars in the far parking lot. Aimless, with no shopping bags or carts, just wandering between cars alone and not talking to each other, peering into car windows. I immediately went to check my car, making sure it was empty. Does that water bottle look valuable? Better hide it, you never know what a crack head will think. So I go inside, head straight for my stuff, then get out within 5 minutes. I'm totally cool with the kid licking the ground (he licked the entire aisle while I just stood there), but I ain't cool with people possibly breaking into my car for something worth 2 bucks. read more

I honestly just had the worst experience at this store!!! I went to this location for a refill of my soda stream co2 canister. I patiently waited in the customer service line and was told that they do not have any refills available at this time. I asked if there was a new canister that I could purchase and after looking around bewildered the cashier asked her coworkers and told me that they do not have any new ones. I took this to mean that they are out of stock. When I walked around the store to pick up a few other items I was very amazed to see that they have a full shelf stocked with soda stream co2 canisters. I took a new one to the customer service line and waited again! Once at the front I proceeded to tell the cashier that I was not upset but that they indeed have plenty of new canisters. She had so much attitude and told me that she could not refill (I wanted to tell her that I clearly understand the difference between getting mine refilled and purchasing a new one but I kept my cool). I told her that I simply wanted the customer service department to be aware in case another customer walks in with the same request. She yet again gave me attitude and told me that they knew they had plenty of new canisters for sale. At this point I did loose my cool and told her that they clearly did not know as I was told differently. The worst customer service I have ever experienced and a horribly trained staff.... This new Walmart Supercenter just opened up behind Best Buy off Almaden Expwy near Costco in the old Expo building. Car park is nice and big along with the store. 5 stars for having a large store, easy parking. This store does not have the ghetto car park look as the other stores. 1 star for the experience. Went in today to purchase a kindle 4 for $79 with $30 gift card that was advertised on the front page of their ad on 4/29. Entered store at 6.40am since I knew these Kindles will sell out and they only have less than 10 per store. Melvin in electronics/ entertainment is restocking a shelf so wait 5 minutes for him to finish. He grabs the kindles, rings them up but no gift card is showing. I asked him to check the stores local ad, he goes to his computer but cannot bring up the local ad page, he tries searching for it on walmart.com but cant find it. I tried using their computers but the administrator has disabled WiFi. What a cluster! He then calls over the department manager with an arm in a sling who knows nothing about the sale they are having today on the kindles, or the front page of their ad. I inform her to check the ad, she wanders off and comes back 10 minutes later and says the store manager believes they are having a promotion. She working with Melvin still can't get the gift card to ring up correctly. They call over a CSM (customer service manager), now the three of them surround the cash register like a posse and requires a CSM key for the cash register to offer the $30 gift card without charging for it. Walmart also charges a $6 recycling fee which I have never paid at any other store, plan ridiculous. They offered a 1 year protection which I declined. First kindle purchased, took 50 minutes from walking into the store, getting Melvin to finish restocking a shelf, pull the kindles that I went into purchase and pay. The second transaction for another kindle only took 3 minutes with the CSM and department manager now trained on how to honor their Walmart 4/29 frontpage promotion on a kindle 4. Overall, the worst shopping experience I have ever had at a Walmart store, staff who is unapologetic, not trained to handle their in-store promotions, not educated to read their local ad or sales. Requires a 3 person tag team for 50minutes to complete a 3 minute transaction. What a complete waste of my time for what should have been a simple transaction. I hope the store manager and corporate are reading these Yelp reviews. Walmart superstore experience verdict pathetic. You may have better luck with non sale items or rollbacks. I know that I will be rolling back to Target where I have always have a consistent great service experience. read more

The store leader Maryann "Ann" was the rudest employee and I will never be going back again. Although this is the closest location to me I don't mind going to Gilroy or to the Eastside Walmart. I'm usually not a fan of Walmart, but this one was much different than the others one I've been to. You don't generally set your expectations very high when you go to Walmart, but this one is by far the worst. I had to speak to three different employees before I found one that could speak English well enough to actually help. Don't get me wrong, I understand the importance of a Diverse workforce, but you should set the bar at at least a conversational grasp of the English language. On top of that, the store is always a mess, the employees lack training and the checkout staff always seems to be overwhelmed. My last shopping experience, I went to this Walmart to pick up an item that I purchased online and had to wait over an hour to pick it up because the staff didn't understand how to use the new kiosks. Worst customer service experience in quite some time. I put a layaway pre-order down on an Xbox One for the system's launch in November. Now, when the system launched, there were two versions of the system that you could buy, the Day One Special Edition, and the regular edition. It turns out that the system that they ended up putting on hold for me was the regular edition, so I skipped out on the pre-order. I didn't ask for my money back that day because it was a system launch and most stores are generally busy during that time... So yeah, I held off on attempting to get my money back for a few weeks, no big deal.... right? I went back there a month later and presented them with the receipt, expecting to be refunded right then and there. After waiting for about 30 minutes for a manager to show up at customer service, they told me that I was to receive a postcard in the mail, and if I return that along with the receipt, then I would be refunded my down payment. I asked them why is that the case, given that I have my ID, the receipt and the credit card that I made the purchase on, but they said it was store policy/they were just following the directives passed on by corporate. I was skeptical, but I didn't want to make a scene. So yeah.. no worries, I can always come back later. So I finally get the postcard yesterday, and it states that I only have 12 days to claim my refund. So yeah, I went there earlier today with my ID, the receipt, the credit card that I bought the pre-order with and the postcard. I get there, go to customer service, wait about ten minutes for a manager to show up.... but instead of a manager showing up, an different employee came back and tried to tell me that this location does not offer refunds and I would have to go to another store for a refund. So yeah, I kinda lost my patience at that point. I told them how incredibly stupid their refund policy was and demanded to speak to a real manager. I threw in a few four letters words because I was angry and they deserved it, because I knew from the start that they could offer refunds the first time that I showed up asking for one.... this was just store employees or the management being lazy and spiteful. The employees go off to some random part of the store and I end up waiting an extra 20-30 minutes for the manager to show. During this time, I was able to call my wife, and call their customer service line to tell them about what was currently happening. When the manager showed up, she apparently had the magical ability to issue me my refund for a pre-order. So yeah, they have great prices on a lot of items in the store, but that was some of the worst customer service that I have ever experienced in years. I mean, I was going to buy groceries and end up spending more than the $50 that I spent on the pre-order anyway.... Why make it so difficult? Avoid if possible. read more

I like Wal-Mart for the fun Wal-Mart stuff, but the lines are always soooo long and I hate that you have to stand behind people with a million grocery items. I do not like that Wal-Mart sells groceries. Came here on Friday before Easter and there was literally no Easter Candy left. I absolutely love coming to any of the Walmart Supercenters! I chose to write about this one because it is the closest one to me and the store I frequent most. You can not go wrong with their great prices for their grocery section. From bread to produce, there is a great selection and even better prices. I have tried their red meat and it is definitely better than you would think coming from a WalMart. Their produce is pretty fresh and tasty. They have all the canned/boxed goods and grocery store would carry. I definitely like to come here for good food and to save a buck when I need to shop for groceries. I knocked off a star because I swear every time I go there, I always end up getting the broken cart and it drives me insane when I push it and you hear the damn BAM! (wheel rotates) BAM! Ahhhhhh! More times than not I have picked out the one with a cracked/chipped/half the wheel missing! Also, I was very disappointed to see that they don't sell bullets where the other Super Walmarts I have been to, do sell them. Either way, it's a great store, just need to take better care of their carts and upgrade their outdoorsy section! read more
