I ordered my groceries on the app for curbside pick up. I had to schedule a week in advance, which doesn't make sense with it always being empty, and the app rarely works to check-in. I finally get my order, open the trunk, realize my eggs were turned to the side, and bring everything inside. Once I unpacked my groceries, I found an opened food item that was USED and half empty. The only positive was that corporate refunded my money instantly without having to bring the item into the store. Walmart claims that food safety is their number one concern, but they aren't concerned to give customers who order online open food items or even making sure it isn't an item that has been used or expired. ‍ read more

Watch out if you use the self check-out. When I had rung up my order and pressed the Finish and Pay button the display showed $48, which is what I expected to pay. I slipped my credit card in and the final price jumped to $60 as the crooked machine charged me twice for one of my items. I went to the person overseeing the machines and they refused to make an adjustment and sent me to a regular cashier. I chose the shortest line and had to wait an additional 40 minutes before the line worked its way down to the cashier. I had to wait twice. There was no apology. No offer of compensation. To make matters worse, the prices for the automotive parts I bought were 40% higher than the same items I recently bought at Kmart. I only came here because my friend likes this store. It's a Walmart, and it can get really crazy at times. I called early one day to ask if the had a vaccine in stock cause the website said they have one and sometimes when it's a low number they don't really have it and the system is wrong. Guy on the phone, after 10 minutes of holding, says he just looked it up and "the system says we have 1 in stock" and I said I know the computer says that but can you make sure it's actually there so I don't waste my time? He got mad and said the computer says there's one so there's one! Well guess what? I got there around 30 minutes later and there wasn't any! So I wasted my time. read more

Walmart has developed quite a reputation for itself, over the years.  While I like the lower prices and the savings, one can also expect less in service and cleanliness as well.    Upon walking in, there were no shopping carts available indoor.  We had asked the guy standing at the door about the carts, and he only confirmed that there were no available carts, so we had to go back out to the parking lot to grab a cart.  We were looking specifically for a couple of items - a kid's winter sled being one of them.  First, we were directed to lawn and garden. Once we got to lawn and garden and found no sled, we were then re-directed to toys.  As far as cleanliness goes, the bathroom appears to be newly remodeled, however, they were not being maintained very well.  Upon walking in, you can see toilet tissue strewn all over the bathroom floor. In addition, there were no tissue in the stall that I had entered.  About an hour later I came back to the bathroom.  This time the toilet tissue has been swept up but there were still no toilet tissue in the stalls, so it seems someone did come in to clean it, but they only did half their job. Overall, the prices of merchandise at Walmart MIGHT be a little bit lower than some other stores, but sometimes it's worthwhile to pay a tad bit more for better service and cleaner restrooms. read more

I went in to buy a 43 inch 4K tv today. I stood at the kiosk with 2 employees behind it while none of them even acknowledged my existence for about 10 minutes. Eventually I said "excuse me" with No response from either of them. I eventually finally got their attention and when I asked if I could purchase a tv, the employee was visibly annoyed as she didn't want to do her job. I went to Walmart today. They had everything I needed. The vegetables weren't as high quality as other places but they will do. But that's not what made me want to write a review. It was their excellent customers and their excellent customer service. I evidently dropped my iPhone or left it on a shelf. My whole life is in that phone. I traced my steps and looked everywhere. I remained calm. I checked-out my groceries, hoping it was on the bottom of my cart. It was not. I went to customer service. The manager asked me some questions to identify my phone. Then handed it to me, saying "Is there anything more I can do for you". That's when the tears came. Thank you whoever turned it in and thank you Walmart! You made my day! Please remove. The stores here in WNY don't update their web site or the system in the store . Looked online for ac units the web site says they have them in stock at the Amherst NY location so I called the woman on the phone said yes they have some in stock get there and there's none . Ask a worker and the checked the little computer thing they carry and it said they had some but they don't , So he checked another store and it said the store in Williamsville NY had some so I went there and surprise they don't have any either . Asked a worker and he checked his little computer thing and it said they had 6 but there were none anywhere in the store . Pharmacy: These people take the longest time ever to service you whether it's crowded or not (but usually it's not though). They have really bad customer service. Next time, make sure you call ahead to refill your prescription, if you can't, account for spending at least 15 minutes roaming around the store to kill your time. Vision center: I like the optician here though. He's super friendly and helpful. He makes me feel welcomed and comfortable. Contacts and glasses here are super affordable. If you buy contacts, they usually do more bulk sized purchases (yearly ones). They really do not take too many health insurance (so keep that in mind). Honestly, what keeps me coming back is because it's the closest one near me and it's just convenient because it's opened 24/7. Customer service here truly sucks. Every now and them you will bump into a helpful employee (if you bump into any employee at all-- you have to roam around a decent amount of aisles before you find one; makes me think they're understaffed all the time). Try avoiding here during afternoons-early evenings because it gets super crowded and checking out will take you forever. Self check-out is usually the way to go, but the wait still takes awhile sometimes. read more

Love it. I'm a Walmart girl through and through. Sure it can be annoying to make your way through a Walmart, but this one is no more frustrating than any other. This location is pretty clean, the clientele is decent, and the shelves are fairly well-stocked most of the time. Huge tip at this location...try to avoid it more than other Walmarts when it's back to school time. All of the UB students shop there and it's pretty intense. This location has two self check-out sections, one at each end of the store. If you're confident enough to use the machines, do it. You'll save a ton of time. read more

This is my least fave Walmart in the area, because... (a) they were doing perfectly well right off the 290 on NFB tucked away not bothering anyone. And it was easy access for me. So they closed down that location and moved into one of my fave areas for food in the region, and took up what seems like 17,000 blocks in doing so. (b) they have less friendly, less enthusiastic, less helpful employees than Depew, which have less friendly employees than Thruway Mall and Transit in Clarence, and I don't even know how it's humanly possible for this to be so. (c) The police presence seems to be even greater here than at the Thruway location... probably because it's near a University? No cops on Transit though. (d) I don't think I've ever been cussed at quite as often, by ratio, as when I am in this particular parking lot. Take your meds, Amherstinians. Let me tell you a quick anecdote. BEAUTIFUL girl standing outside this store asking people for a ride. Mostly, asking men for a ride. Was she soliciting, I can't be sure. She didn't ask me for any favours. I had a mega crush on her though. I don't pay for "it" or really have "it" any more but I'd have given her a ride for sure if not for the fact that she was smoking (it's one of my phobias maybe). Cops came. TONS of cops. 3 or 4 cars and 6 or 7 cops all surrounding her. Enjoying the scenery I would imagine. Huge argument. Hands on weapons. Threatening behaviour. She tried to leave. They wouldn't let her. Roughly put her in the back of a car. Took her away. I dunno, it just kind of rubbed me the wrong way. I have friends on the East Side who are afraid to walk to the store at night. Cops don't drive down their back streets and a lot of the lights aren't working or are insufficient. Simple, needed storage containers of different sizes. Could not find matching kids for any of them, asked an associate for help. She tried and admired that it's all screwed up. There is only one person that manages that area, and he is part time, this is a 24/7 store. So I keep matching and finding containers. After 45 minutes and no one to help got what I needed. Came to pick up Xmas photo cards. The person at the counter handed me a packet that wasn't mine. Then he shuffled through several boxes, drawers and shelves. I had given my name multiple times at that point. I then gave him the order # and he went in the back. He returned and asked my name AGAIN because he couldn't find it under the order number. Then he went in the back AGAIN. I'm still waiting here after 20 minutes. There should be better organization! Do NOT order photos from this Walmart!! (Oh and last time I came to pick them up the printer wasn't working). The original person never came back to counter. Someone else did, also with the wrong order. The second person EVENTUALLY found the right cards. Now I am waiting for him to cut them and get the envelopes. read more

I don't shop at Walmart much and one of the main reasons is that if you need to return something you will wait in a ridiculously long line, where usually only two people are doing returns, and they are slower than molasses. My theory is that their products must be of very poor quality and therefore the long line of returns. I literally had one item to return and I waited about 20 minutes and the line didn't move. I got so frustrated that I left the line to return another day. A few days later I went to another location to do my return and ran into the same situation. This time I waited because I figured why not, it doesn't matter which location you go to, you're going to wait forever. I find it funny that this is not a problem and Target or Kohl's or pretty much any store you go to. I have come to realize that any WalMart Supercenter is like concourse B at O'Hare Airport; stay here long enough and you will see someone you know. I keep a PEZ dispenser filled with xanax in my car for trips to Walmart; the place is always packed, and it seems like there a jillion little kids running around unsupervised. However, their prices on items like beans, baking items, and other staples are so good that it is almost worth it. If you don't have a membership to a warehouse club, Walmart may be the place for you. read more

Target should change their motto to you spend a little bit more so you don't have to shop at Walmart. How could all your staff be so rude and still ok with that? Waited in the electronic section for 10 mins asking ever employee for help and they kept saying ask some one else. Finely got some one and I asked if I could get a little bit of a discount on a DVD I found in the racks because the cover was ripped in half. Some of the case is missing. It was a mess but the blue ray seemed ok. The man looked at me and say ya homes I'll hook you up. I thought grate even if I got 10% off I'd be happy. We got up and he asked the manager and the manager said no there's nothing wrong with this. Now the way the product was no way in heck would anyone pay full price for this. Employees: You can tell their employees are SERIOUSLY unhappy. I was in the jewelry department looking at rings and watches and overheard conversations between the staff. I was right in front of them when one women openly complained about customers. Not once did anyone offer to help me find what I was looking for either. I am a Walmart regular. There are several grocery and household items I buy weekly that I cannot find cheaper elsewhere. The location is very convenient for me, too. That pretty much sums up why I keep coming here--despite my qualms with Walmart. Most of the time I can get what I need, but yeah, sometimes items are out of stock. The produce is less than stellar, so I get my fresh foods at Tops. Lines can be ridiculous; unless my life literally depends on it, I'm NOT stepping foot in this store during weekend afternoons. It's a mob scene then. But odd times that you'd think would be dead can still have crazy lines too, so it's really hit-or-miss to avoid the crowd. One thing you can count on, though--the Service Desk line will be huge, no matter the time. Cashiers are usually either apathetic or shooting the breeze with other workers about personal topics, while you are cashing out. I try to only use the self-checkout and avoid cashiers altogether. Even so, unless our household has a big uptick in bottom line, I'll keep coming to Walmart to save money. Three stars is generous from the shopper experience perspective, but the almighty dollar factor cannot be denied. So you'll see me moping my way though the aisles again soon, with best-price cheese sticks, cat food, peanut butter and hairspray in tow. read more

Walmart seems to be a popular place anywhere you go. But this was the worst customer service I have experienced here. I understand its a busy holiday season, but I was looking for an associate to help me for 20 mins. Then when I asked for the price of the item, the associate stated "I dont know, I have only been working here for a 3 weeks now." I had to find the price myself. I also had my nephew with me because we needed to pick up a few pairs of khakis for him. But I wanted him to try them on before I purchased. I once again had to find someone that worked in the department to open the fitting room. However, I was greeted by an unhappy employee who stated that the "fitting room was closed because of high risk of theft". I understand its a busy holiday season but really. I ended up bringing the khakis back because he could not fit them. However, on a positve note there is plenty of parking around the building and the cashiers are pretty fast with checkout. 1 out of 5 stars. read more

If I'm writing this review solely on the items they sell I would give it 4 stars. They have everything you could ever need for your newborn/toddler. Strollers, car seats, gates, bottles, clothes, diapers, wipes, and more can be purchased here for your baby. They have little t shirts for 3.88 that are my favorite to buy for my 2 year old son. Their grocery section is big with a wide variety of items. They don't always have a ton of stocked fruits and veggies but my salad seems to last for a decent amount of time. They sell a ton of different meats too and they are all at a great price. I always go to Walmart to buy my shampoo, sunscreen, etc. The reason I'm giving them 2 stars is for customer service. Returning something to this store is a NIGHTMARE! They always have one person working and it takes them forever. They can't look up something you bought with your credit card like target can. One time the girl even told me they have a terrible computer system for returns that takes forever. I was there last week and the line for returns was ridiculous. We had been waiting awhile when a man yelled out "can we get some help over here". A worker who was standing there got on a register to help. That's great that he did that but did he really need to be asked by a customer to do his job? Wouldn't you just notice the long line and begin helping. They also never have enough regular checkout lines open either. I am constantly waiting in line for well over 15-20 minutes. They need to hire some more cashiers! Honestly, I hate this Walmart out of 3 that are around me (this one sadly being the closest). Not only are there so many fist fights and theft in this store, but there's so many expired food/personal care items. Every single time I go grocery shopping at this one (only been 3 times) I come home and while I'm unpacking my groceries I come across expired things I just bought, cereal, oatmeal packages, kidney beans, meat, etc. I know some of that is my fault because you should look before you purchase, but at the same time that's also not my fault because people shouldn't put expired shit on the shelves of ANY Supercenter. Walmart brings in enough money, the least they can do is give something that's fresh. I can't tell you how disgusting it is to go and get a half gallon of milk, and it's well past it's sell by date, to see applesauce opened and ate out of. My dog got severely sick a few weeks ago and I had no understanding as to why, ate his food for one day and refused to eat it and was exploding all over my home. Sure enough I looked at the food bag and the dog food was expired by 9 months and it caused him to have a stomach infection which landed me $600 out the window for a vet visit and medicine. (I'm just thankful he's okay because I love him dearly) The only 3 times I have been there I see employees roaming around wondering around like their lost, on their phone. This is coming from a store manager, maybe you should tell your employees in all food, and body care sections to check expiration dates if they're just going to linger and be assholes to customers. At least do one part of your job right. If it's expired it shouldn't be out on the floor. Period. I highly recommend Wegmans, Tops, or Walmart in North Tonawanda for FRESH produce, dog food, etc. it may be a bit more expensive, but I'd rather have lettuce that lasts me a week instead of lettuce that rots overnight. I thought that Spot Coffee on Elmwood was the place in Buffalo to people-watch....but nope, this Walmart just upped it. Terribly bad and mismanaged employees.Empty shelves everywhere. Now I know why my stock in this company is doing so well.....because they don't invest any money in management or fair wages to get better quality workers. This location is an absolute joke. I get that it's close proximity to the college, but that's no excuse for staffing it like it's in the boondocks. For the second time in six months, I walked out of this store last night without buying anything (after having a cart full of merchandise) because the lines are AWFUL. The first time was around midnight, and last night was around 9 p.m. Both times were weeknights. The cashiers are slow and terrible, and you can't staff to save your life. I stood in line this time 15 minutes without moving an inch. Absurd. I've worked more than ten years in retail - does this store not understand the concept of "backup cashiers"? I'll drive the extra 15 minutes to the North Tonawanda store rather than shop here again. NT is cleaner, the cashiers know how to do their jobs, and the shelves are actually stocked.
